Todays’ children are tomorrows’ future leaders of the world. We need to ensure that our children grow up with a good understanding of the seven major Universal laws. This will bring the world’s future to a more peaceful and fulfilling time. By learning and practising these laws you will have an easier and more rewarding life. Without knowing these laws you will probably struggle and make bad life decisions. This book is composed of inspirational information to help young people understand each law. There is a creative story of each law that enhances and helps children learn how this law works I our daily lives. There are pages of beautiful full colour illustrations to help bring these stories to life. This book also includes a glossary for easier comprehension for your child. After reading Deepak Chopra’s “The Seven Spiritual Laws for Parents” I got inspired by teaching these laws to my own children. Spiritual Laws apply to everyone and if everyone practiced these laws it would transform our daily living as we know it. Love and compassion could become enriched in our very existence. Everyone would have a fulfilling and successful life. By successful I mean a success that comes from inner fulfilment. The feeling you get when giving love and compassion for others. Showing joy and sharing it with others. The feeling of knowing your life has a purpose, and having a strong connection to the Universe, where you feel a sense of belonging. I have written a story about life situations for each Spiritual law. By reading about each spiritual law working in different situations, you will better understand the true meaning and value of these Spiritual laws. The inspiring knowledge, creative stories, and beautiful illustrations make this book a shame to miss out on. Radianthealing.ca Email: [email protected]

Book The Measure of a Man

Download or read book The Measure of a Man written by Sidney Poitier and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2009-10-13 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "I have no wish to play the pontificating fool, pretending that I've suddenly come up with the answers to all life's questions. Quite the contrary, I began this book as an exploration, an exercise in selfquestioning. In other words, I wanted to find out, as I looked back at a long and complicated life, with many twists and turns, how well I've done at measuring up to the values I myself have set." In this luminous memoir, a true American icon looks back on his celebrated life and career. His body of work is arguably the most morally significant in cinematic history, and the power and influence of that work are indicative of the character of the man behind the many storied roles. Sidney Poitier here explores these elements of character and personal values to take his own measure--as a man, as a husband and father, and as an actor. Poitier credits his parents and his childhood on tiny Cat Island in the Bahamas for equipping him with the unflinching sense of right and wrong and of selfworth that he has never surrendered and that have dramatically shaped his world. "In the kind of place where I grew up," recalls Poitier, "what's coming at you is the sound of the sea and the smell of the wind and momma's voice and the voice of your dad and the craziness of your brothers and sisters ... and that's it." Without television, radio, and material distractions to obscure what matters most, he could enjoy the simple things, endure the long commitments, and find true meaning in his life. Poitier was uncompromising as he pursued a personal and public life that would honor his upbringing and the invaluable legacy of his parents just a few years after his introduction to indoor plumbing and the automobile, Poitier broke racial barrier after racial barrier to launch a pioneering acting career. Committed to the notion that what one does for a living articulates who one is, Poitier played only forceful and affecting characters who said something positive, useful, and lasting about the human condition. Here, finally, is Poitier's own introspective look at what has informed his performances and his life. Poitier explores the nature of sacrifice and commitment, pride and humility, rage and forgiveness, and paying the price for artistic integrity, What emerges is a picture of a man seeking truth, passion, and balance in the face of limits--his own and the world's. A triumph of the spirit, The Measure of a Man captures the essential Poitier.

Book Life Lessons from 1 and 2 Thessalonians

Download or read book Life Lessons from 1 and 2 Thessalonians written by Max Lucado and published by HarperChristian Resources. This book was released on 2018-11-27 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The church in Thessalonica was a study in contrast. They had been a quiet and holy people. But after a while, they had become restless and impatient. They needed direction on how to live. So Paul wrote the young church two letters. The first commended the believers for their faith and encouraged them to continue living according to the gospel principles he had taught. The second letter was filled with helpful hints that corrected their wrong beliefs, assumptions, and behaviors. Whether we are living a quiet and holy life or one that leaves us restless and impatient, Paul's letters encourage us. They challenge us to remain faithful in a temporary world. As you read, study, journal, and discuss the books of 1 and 2 Thessalonians, watch for these key themes that Max will unpack throughout the book: We should live in preparation for Christ's return. God wants holy and pure worship. The time of Christ's return will be unpredictable. How we live our everyday lives, matters. The Life Lessons with Max Lucado series brings the Bible to life in twelve lessons filled with intriguing questions, inspirational stories, and poignant reflections to take you deeper into God's Word. Each lesson includes: An opening reflection on the Bible book you're studying. Background information to deepen your understanding of the cultural and historical setting. An excerpt of the text (from the NIV and the NKJV). Exploration questions with plenty of room to write your own thoughts and notes. Inspirational thoughts from Max as well as a closing takeaway for further reflection. The Life Lessons series is ideal for use in both a small-group setting or for individual study.

Book Life Lessons from Slasher Films

Download or read book Life Lessons from Slasher Films written by Jessica Robinson and published by Scarecrow Press. This book was released on 2012-06-07 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Horror and slasher films are often dismissed for their apparent lack of sophistication and dearth of redeemable values. However, despite criticism from film snobs who turn up their noses and moralists who look down upon the genre, slasher films are more than just movies filled with gory mayhem. Such films can actually serve a purpose and offer their audiences something more than split skulls and severed heads. In Life Lessons from Slasher Films, Jessica Robinson looks at representative works that have been scaring audiences for decades—from Alfred Hitchcock’s seminal shocker, Psycho, to the cult classic Black Christmas and iconic thrillers like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Scream. In this book, Robinson examines common themes that have emerged in these films, their various sequels, and countless imitators—a maniacal and seemingly indestructible executioner, sexual encounters that invariably lead to death, increasingly gruesome ways to slaughter helpless victims, and a lone female survivor who finds a way to vanquish the killer—and looks beyond such tropes for what these films can teach us about life. From practical advice (listen to your elders) to moral platitudes (teens never learn), each chapter considers a different “lesson” that these films teach. Robinson discusses how the events portrayed in slasher films can resonate with viewers and perhaps offer constructive advice on how to conduct our lives. A fun read for fans and scholars alike, Life Lessons from Slasher Films offers an entertaining and persuasive look at how life can imitate art, and what art can say about life.

Book Adventures of the Spirit

Download or read book Adventures of the Spirit written by Phyllis Sternberg Perrakis and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Adventures of the Spirit, Phyllis Sternberg Perrakis brings together eleven American and Canadian "literary gerontologists" to examine a new kind of adventure for the older woman in literature. This volume of critical essays analyzes recent works by contemporary women writers whose characters' midlife and later life changes are mapped in their narratives.Rather than focusing on the painful losses undergone by women of a certain age, recent narratives explore a new kind of adventure of aging, one that is spiritual in nature, enabling new ways of being and becoming, but open-ended and capable of great variation in practice. In particular, these journeys of the spirit focus on the retrospective movement undergone by a midlife or older woman as she is led by inner or outer forces to assess where she has come from and decipher a shape or pattern to her journey. These journeys do not leave the body behind as they map new spiritual territory. Rather they honor spirit's embrace of the natural world and relationships as well as its aspirations for evolving development and eternal existence. The essays in Adventures of the Spirit employ a wide variety of critical lenses to chart these adventures, including archetypal, Sufi, post-colonial, and feminist analysis; archival research; aboriginal life writing; and trauma theory. These studies bring a new understanding to women's adventure of age in both literary texts and in life.

Book Quickies

Download or read book Quickies written by Don P. Marquess and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2021-05-14 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “These short (very short) stories by Don P. Marquess, I would term “Thurberesque” being very reminiscent of James Thurber. I have used Don’s photos on the covers of 5 of my books, now he is entering into competition with me. He writes just as he speaks, and his writings are all true. Each one caused a big fat grin from me, and a few of them a giant belly laugh” - Rich Wolfe, writer of 50+ Sports related books “When the ordinary isn’t. Just walking through a hotel lobby and passing Henry Mancini, or sitting at a table directly next to Burt Reynolds, or telling stories from Jack Buck (Hall of Fame broadcaster), or the piccolo player from the St. Louis Symphony, Don Marquess captures in a few pages terrific, funny, human and humane stories from his first 80 years. No villains, no politics, just true life experiences that provide us a smile and life philosophies. A delight to read and enjoy." -David I. Berland, MD. “Don Marquess has a special and very unique eye for seeing humor in everyday life situations. His sense of irony and timing is fully realized with his true life twists and pranks that result in very interesting stories. Don’s memory in these comedic anecdotes is flawless." - Jan Gippo...Master Piccoloist and writer for “Flute Talk” “I LOVE IT! It is funny and truly captures my father, Jack Buck. It is so sweet. It brought him back for me for the day. Love that”. Joe Buck, Premium Sportscaster, forthcoming host of “Jeopardy”.
