Download or read book No Spiritual Investment in the World written by Willem Styfhals and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2019-05-15 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout the twentieth century, German writers, philosophers, theologians, and historians turned to Gnosticism to make sense of the modern condition. While some saw this ancient Christian heresy as a way to rethink modernity, most German intellectuals questioned Gnosticism's return in a contemporary setting. In No Spiritual Investment in the World, Willem Styfhals explores the Gnostic worldview's enigmatic place in these discourses on modernity, presenting a comprehensive intellectual history of Gnosticism's role in postwar German thought. Establishing the German-Jewish philosopher Jacob Taubes at the nexus of the debate, Styfhals traces how such figures as Hans Blumenberg, Hans Jonas, Eric Voegelin, Odo Marquard, and Gershom Scholem contended with Gnosticism and its tenets on evil and divine absence as metaphorical detours to address issues of cultural crisis, nihilism, and the legitimacy of the modern world. These concerns, he argues, centered on the difficulty of spiritual engagement in a world from which the divine has withdrawn. Reading Gnosticism against the backdrop of postwar German debates about secularization, political theology, and post-secularism, No Spiritual Investment in the World sheds new light on the historical contours of postwar German philosophy.

Download or read book Soul Currency written by Ernest D. Chu and published by New World Library. This book was released on 2010-11-30 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In tough times, we look outside ourselves for things to change instead of looking inward, where true abundance resides. It’s tempting to downplay important values like generosity, integrity, and intuition. These niceties can take a backseat because we think the world needs to change before we can find wealth. But they are what make it possible to find prosperity, no matter what happens in the world around us. These inner traits help us reach our outer goals. Ernest Chu’s transformational concept of “soul currency” refers to both something we use to exchange value (as with money) and the circulation of a divine force in our lives. Chu’s own example, as an entrepreneur who pulled himself out of crushing debt, shows his practical, ready-to-implement principles in action. Soul currency bridges the material world of finance and the invisible world of Spirit, allowing abundance to come to us and flow through us. When we tap into the creative force of soul currency, we can experience unprecedented abundance and fulfillment.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Integration of Psyche and Spirit presents an interactive model of a new genre of psychology: Integral Psychology. In this genre, all schools and systems of psychology are unified within a single, all-inclusive framework. Psychoanalysis, Behaviorism, Cognitive Psychology, Existentialism, and Transpersonal Psychology all find their rightful place as members in a new "democracy of mind". Building on the pioneering work of Freud, Jung, Kohut, Maslow, and Wilber-as aligned to the spiritual revelation of the Ruchira Avatar, Adi Da Samraj-Burton Daniels has developed a comprehensive theory of psychic structure, personality development, and clinical practice. It is the intent of this work to usher in a new era within professional psychology, where all schools and systems can benefit from a common language and theoretical framework. This breakthrough is made possible by a conception of the psyche that includes every aspect of structure and development within a single, comprehensive theory: The "Apex" Paradox. "The author integrates the Avatar Adi Da's teaching on psychology and spirituality into this analysis, providing a compelling argument for the inclusion of spirituality into psychological theory and a strong argument for the truth of the Avatar Adi Da's teaching." - iUniverse

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Holy Bible is a life-giving collection of sixty-six inspiring literary masterpieces. Hebrews 4:12 states that The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The author has first encountered this life-changing word of God over 40 years ago; his life got drastically changed. This book is a collection of his personal thoughts and experiences compiled daily as he studied the Bible during his devotional time. Indeed, great blessings are experienced when the Bible is studied in its entirety. Yet, even a quick perusal can be spiritually beneficial, too. We may liken a Bible verse merely as a crumb from the whole loaf of Gods word. But they are golden, hence, the title The Golden Crumbs.
