Download or read book Whisperers written by J.H. Brennan and published by ABRAMS. This book was released on 2013-06-13 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “From the hair-raising to the eyebrow-raising, this is a scintillating account of meetings with spirits through history” (Mark Booth, New York Times–bestselling author). It may seem incredible, but as bestselling novelist and occult expert J.H. Brennan reveals in this eye-opening new history, there is a wealth of evidence to suggest that the disembodied voices of spirits may have subtly directed the course of human events. In Whisperers, Brennan explores how the “spirit world”—whether we believe in it or not—has influenced our own since the dawn of civilization. With a novelist’s flair and a scholar’s keen eye, Brennan details the supernatural affinities of world leaders from King Nebuchadnezzar to Adolf Hitler, showing how the decisions and policies of each have been shaped by their supernatural beliefs and encounters. Brennan also examines the impact of visions, from shamanism in native cultures to prophets such as Joan of Arc. Chronicling millennia of contact between the spirit world and our own, Whisperers presents an entirely new and different way to look at history. “Prolific Irish author and lecturer Brennan’s lifelong fascination with psychic phenomena fuels this comprehensive analysis of potential supernatural influences on history. . . . Certain hokum for skeptics, but the more open-minded will savor this chillingly convincing testimonial.” —Kirkus Reviews “J.H. Brennan is an expert storyteller who paints an often terrifying picture of how human destiny has regularly been changed forever by individuals convinced they were in communication with intelligences from beyond. In Whisperers, Brennan has created a unique and timely history of spirit voices that is both brilliant and utterly chilling.” —Andrew Donkin, coauthor of Illegal

Download or read book Spirits in Stone written by Glenn Kreisberg and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2018-04-10 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A ground-breaking study of ceremonial stone landscapes in Northeast America and their relationship to other sites around the world • Features a comprehensive field guide to hundreds of megalithic stone structures in northeastern America, including cairns, perched boulders, and effigies • Details the Wall of Manitou, the Hammonasset Line, landscape astronomy along the Hudson River, and a several-acre area in Woodstock, NY, with large, carefully constructed lithic formations • Analyzes the archaeoastronomy, archaeoacoustics, and symbolism of these sites to reveal their relationships to other ceremonial stone sites across America and the world Presenting a comprehensive field guide to hundreds of lost, forgotten, and misidentified megalithic stone structures in northeastern America, Glenn Kreisberg documents many enigmatic formations still standing across the Catskill Mountain and Hudson Valley region, complete with functioning solstice and equinox alignments. Kreisberg provides a first-person description of the “Wall of the Manitou,” which runs for 10 miles along the eastern slopes of the Catskill Mountains, as well as narratives about related sites that include animal effigies, reproductive organs, calendar stones, enigmatic inscriptions, and evidence of alignments. Using computer software, he plots the trajectory of the Hammonasset Line, which begins at a burial complex near the tip of Long Island and runs to Devil’s Tombstone in Greene County, New York. He shows how the line runs at the same angle that marks the summer solstice sunset from Montauk Point on Long Island, and, when extended, intersects the ancient copper mines of Isle Royal in Upper Michigan. He documents a several-acre area on Overlook Mountain in Woodstock, New York, with a grouping of very large, carefully constructed lithic formations that together create a serpent or snake figure, mirroring the constellation Draco. He demonstrates how this site is related to the Serpent Mount in Ohio and Ankor Wat in Cambodia and reveals how all of the vast, interlocking sites in the Northeast were part of an ancient spiritual landscape based on a sophisticated understanding of the cosmos, as practiced by ancient Native Americans. While modern historians consider these sites to be colonial era constructions, Kreisberg reveals how they were used to communicate with the spirit world and may be remnants of a long-vanished civilization.

As a child, Daniel Sempere discovered among the passageways of the Cemetery of Forgotten Books an extraordinary novel that would change the course of his life. Now a young man in the Barcelona of the late 1950s, Daniel runs the Sempere & Sons bookshop and enjoys a seemingly fulfilling life with his loving wife and son. Yet the mystery surrounding the death of his mother continues to plague his soul despite the moving efforts of his wife Bea and his faithful friend Fermín to save him. Just when Daniel believes he is close to solving this enigma, a conspiracy more sinister than he could have imagined spreads its tentacles from the hellish regime. That is when Alicia Gris appears, a soul born out of the nightmare of the war. She is the one who will lead Daniel to the edge of the abyss and reveal the secret history of his family, although at a terrifying price. The Labyrinth of the Spirits is an electrifying tale of passion, intrigue and adventure. Within its haunting pages Carlos Ruiz Zafón masterfully weaves together plots and subplots in an intricate and intensely imagined homage to books, the art of storytelling and that magical bridge between literature and our lives. 'For the first time in 20 years or so as a book reviewer, I am tempted to dust off the old superlatives and event to employ some particularly vulgar clichés from the repertoire of publishers' blurbs. My colleagues may be shocked, but I don't care, I can't help myself, here goes. The Shadow of the Wind is a triumph of the storyteller's art. I couldn't put it down. Enchanting, hilarious and heartbreaking, this book will change your life. Carlos Ruiz Zafón has done that exceedingly rare thing - he has produced, in his first novel, a popular masterpiece, an instant classic' Daily Telegraph

Download or read book The Secrets of Solomon written by Joseph Peterson and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-06-10 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A witch's handbook from the trial records of the Venetian Inquisition. This grimoire, or handbook of magic, was confiscated by the Venetian Inquisition in 1636 from practicing witches. After decades of searching for this elusive text, I now have the pleasure of presenting and translating it here for the first time. It contains their secret techniques for dealing with the more dangerous spirits or daemons, intentionally scattered and hidden within a collection of "secrets" comprising many detailed examples. Together these provide enough clues to enable practitioners to create their own spells for working with all the spirits cataloged. It distinguishes itself as a supplement to the better known Clavicula or Key of Solomon; whereas that text focuses on aerial spirits, this one focuses on chthonic spirits. This text is one of the primary original sources for the popular Grimorium Verum.

His understanding of mediumship, conjuring, flying, and working with the spirit world displays the truth that he not only talks the talk, but also walks the walk."—Laura Tempest Zakroff, author of Sigil Witchery "The Witch's Book of Spirits is the most complete book on working with the dead ever written for Witches, but it's more than a manual for communicating with souls of the departed. It's also a guide to the worlds which generally lay just outside of our grasp and a thorough look at the beings that live there. I'd also like to add that it's just a damn fine book about witchcraft, filled with advice and some much-needed common sense."—Jason Mankey, author of The Witch's Book of Shadows "Teaching an art requires a delicate brew of guidance, cautions, and encouragement; Devin Hunter's book hits the right recipe. The Witch's Book of Spirits is a book that captures the author's personal vision and process while providing systems and frameworks that can serve the reader in developing their own way with the spirits."—Ivo Dominguez, Jr., author of Practical Astrology for Witches and Pagans "In this book Devin gives not just the rituals necessary to conjure and communicate with spirits, but the tools for building life with them. He uses a method of teaching that alternates between supplying theory and principals that can be applied by almost anyone, with very specific rituals that he has received from the spirits himself. The result is a text that you will return to over and over again whether you are working his rites or developing your own."—Jason Miller, author of The Sorcerer's Secrets

Download or read book Exploring Secrets of the Heavenly Realms written by Bruce Hines and published by Exploring Secrets of the Heave. This book was released on 2019-09-11 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Exploring Secrets of the Heavenly RealmsThis book pictures a vast group of fallen angels that have a very highly structured organization of levels and grades according to numbers. Within this hierarchy they are well organized as a kingdom of four different dimensions in the second heaven. These different kinds of fallen angels within each of the four dimension have descending orders of authorities and different rulers and sub rulers according to grade and number responsible for different areas of authority in the second heaven which rule over the earth through the minds of mankind. This multi-leveled kingdom of fallen angels seeks to bring darkness within their sphere of jurisdiction to dominate by evil, sinfulness, and ignorance of the ways of God. The spheres tiered are over the earth and geographical areas of the earth, including space. The fallen seek to create environments in which they exercise a controlling influence. The Bible speaks of the fallen angels as the corner point or the start of something. Fallen angels are called ancient ones or those that began. This means they were the ones who initiated and action of sin, and work through mental influence to finish a process. The fallen are pictured as military leaders of demonic realms. They are labeled as thrones, dominions, principalities and powers. The fallen angels have far superior power than demonic forces and have some particular role in controlling the destiny and activities of human beings. Paul says it's a corporate wrestling (our). It means to fight, grapple and to engage in intense struggle, involving physical or nonphysical force against strong opposition. Strong's Lexicon defines wrestling as a contest between two in which each endeavors to throw the other, and which is decided when the victor is able to hold his opponent down with his hand upon his neck. This term is transferred to the Christian's struggle with the powers of evil in the heavenly realms. This book is the first of a three part series on who to defeat fallen angels and the demonic forces that work for them.
