Book excerpt: Dynamic, Never-Before-Published Work on the Holy Spirit from A.W. Tozer What does it mean to have the Holy Spirit in our lives? Many look to extraordinary experiences and manifestations as evidence of the Spirit. But what happens when the event is over? How can we experience the Holy Spirit in the ordinary, everyday world? How can we be filled with the Spirit? In this material taken from Tozer's sermons, he answers these questions and explores life in the Spirit from a balanced perspective. The church needs the gifts of the Spirit--all of them--or it will never be what God intends it to be. But this has to happen in wisdom and humility. Many people talk about being filled with the Holy Spirit, but very few accept the conditions for being filled. Tozer lays down requirements for the Holy Spirit to come into our lives and transform us into Spirit-filled people. Though every Christian has the Holy Spirit, not every Christian is filled with the Holy Spirit. He explains the difference and how it could change the evangelical church of today.

Nature, including stars, mountains, rivers, sky, clouds, flowers, trees, seasons, the universe that operates orderly…has been declaring the glory of God and proclaiming the wondrous and mighty works of God. God is spirit. Only those whose spirit is alive to Him can see and perceive God and the things of Him. Since the first man sinned and refused to repent, which caused man’s spiritual death to God, man is no longer spiritual, but worldly. After that, man has been blind and deaf to God and His mighty works. For instance, man takes it for granted that the orderly operated nature came into being by itself.

Book Who Killed God alias Cock Robin

Download or read book Who Killed God alias Cock Robin written by Ian Traill and published by Traillblazer Bookshop. This book was released on 2010 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book you hold in your hands is an ambitious attempt to draw a contrast between the simplicity and certainty of the gospel and the complexity and obscurity of secular philosophies. Some readers may find the sections on philosophy difficult, especially if they have no prior knowledge of the various schools of philosophy. Yet Ian Traill has given a succinct outline of each brand of philosophy, and recourse, say, to the online Wikipedia, will enable any reader to clarify what may at first seem obscure. The apostle Paul boldly declares that philosophers are unable to find God through their arguing because God himself has decreed their failure! (1 Cor 1:19-20) That is why even the most brilliant minds have been unable to penetrate the truth by thought alone. It is why, as the 19th century English jurist, Lord Charles Bowen, once said, philosophers are “like a blind man in a dark room feeling for a black hat – that isn’t there!” But he was preceded, fifty years before Jesus was born, by the Roman orator Cicero: “There is nothing so ridiculous but some philosopher has said it.” Likewise, the intellectual 20th century philosopher and mathematician, Lord Bertrand Russell, talking about the seeming certainties of mathematics, had to confess that “mathematics may be defined as the subject in which we never know what we are talking about, nor whether what we are saying is true.” Human philosophy, despite its fascination and genius, must be included with those uncertainties. In the end, absolute truth rests only in the glorious gospel of Christ. Ian’s book offers a fine explanation of this marvellous reality. Rev Dr Ken Chant (M.R.E., Ph.D) Principal Emeritus, Vision Christian College Inc, Australia.
