Download or read book Spelt Dreams written by K.D. Michaelis and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2022-01-12 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spelt-Dreams is a combined cookery and baking book, whose hand-picked and delicious recipes are divided into the following subgroups: - Breads and Bread Rolls - Dumplings, Spaetzle (Swabian Noodles) - Main Meals - hearty and sweet - from remaining dumplings or spaetzle - with spelt flour - with spelt breadcrumbs - with spelt semolina - Cakes and Pies - Cookies and Biscuits Since self-made things take up time, it often makes sense to make a larger amount of bread or rolls or spaetzle at the same time. As an alternative to freezing, the remaining quantities can be planned sensibly and tasty from the outset. For example, you can use leftover, home-baked spelt rolls to make delicious bread dumplings. Leftover bread dumplings can be transformed into particularly tasty main dishes, such as roasted dumplings or sour dumplings. The same applies to homemade spelt spaetzle, which not only make a great roast side dish, but also cut a particularly good figure as cheese spaetzle with a side salad. For all those who like southern German or Austrian specialties. With many delicious recipes from the Alpine region. Of course, there are also delicious examples of sweet main meals, such as spelt semolina porridge and many other sweet delicacies such as cookies, biscuits, cakes and tarts. Everything prepared with spelt flour or spelt semolina - just spelt dreams! All ingredients are converted into cups or teaspoons etc. The baking temperature is shown in 3 different ways: in °F top/bottom heat as well as in °C top/bottom heat or in °C convection.

Download or read book Real Cities written by Steve Pile and published by SAGE Publications Limited. This book was released on 2005-05-01 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is real about city life? Real Cities shows why it is necessary to take seriously the more imaginary, fantastic and emotional aspects of city life. Drawing inspiration from the work of Walter Benjamin, Sigmund Freud and Georg Simmel, Pile explores the dream-like and ghost-like experiences of the city. Such experiences are, he argues, best described as phantasmagorias. The phantasmagorias of city life, though commonplace, are far from self-evident and little understood. This book is a path-breaking exploration of urban phantasmagorias, grounded empirically in a series of unusual and exciting case studies. In this study, four substantial phantasmagorias are identified: dreams, magic, vampires and ghosts. The investigation of each phantasmagoria is developed using a wide variety of clear examples. Thus, voodoo in New York and New Orleans shows how ideas about magic are forged within cities. Meanwhile vampires reveal how specific fears about sex and death are expressed within, and circulate between, cities such as London and Singapore. Taken together, such examples build a unique picture of the diverse roles of the imaginary, fantastic and the emotional in modern city life. What is "real" about the city has radical consequences for how we think about improving city life, for all too often these are over-looked in utopian schemes for the city. Real Cities forcefully argues that an appreciation of urban phantasmagorias must be central to what is considered real about city life.

Download or read book Dream Tonight of Peacock Tails written by Umberto Rossi and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2015-09-04 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dream Tonight of Peacock Tails marks the first in-depth examination of Pynchon’s debut novel, which was immediately recognized as a breakthrough masterpiece. The eight essays collected in the volume provide both scholars and avid readers with new and original insights into a too-often underestimated work that, probably even more than Gravity’s Rainbow, established Pynchon as one of the great masters of twentieth-century American literature. This book deliberately privileges a multidisciplinary and transnational approach, encompassing collaborations from a particularly international and diverse academic context. As such, this volume offers a multifaceted pattern of expanding investigation that tackles the novel’s apparently chaotic but meticulously organized structure by rereading it in the light of recent US and European history and economics, as well as by exploring its many real and imagined locations. Not only are the essays brought together here revelatory of Pynchon’s way of working, but they also tell us something about our own ways of approaching his fiction.
