Book A Random Preferences Model for the Estimation of Consumer Demand Systems with Binding Nonnegativity Constraints

Download or read book A Random Preferences Model for the Estimation of Consumer Demand Systems with Binding Nonnegativity Constraints written by Terence J. Wales and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt:

Book Demand System Specification and Estimation

Download or read book Demand System Specification and Estimation written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study of demand analysis links economic theory to empirical analysis. It demonstrates how theory can be used to specify equation systems suitable for empirical analysis, and discusses demand systems estimation using both per capita time series and household budget data.

Book Demand System with Binding Non negativity Constraints and the Effect of Product Quality on Net Trade

Download or read book Demand System with Binding Non negativity Constraints and the Effect of Product Quality on Net Trade written by Xiaonan Liu and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second study investigates consumers' demand for fresh and processed fruit by applying a two-step estimation procedure to a Quadratic Expenditure System. Using homescan data, we find that household size, income, region, and price significantly affect fruit purchases. We estimate own-price and cross-price elasticities and expenditure elasticities for 18 categories of fruit. More processed fruits serve as substitutes for fresh fruits than complements. Often fresh fruits act as normal goods, and processed fruits as inferior goods. Providing a retail subsidy for fresh fruit or imposing a tax on canned and (or) dried fruit could promote fresh fruit consumption for a healthier diet.

Book On Dual Approaches to Demand Systems Estimation in the Presence of Binding Quantity Constraints

Download or read book On Dual Approaches to Demand Systems Estimation in the Presence of Binding Quantity Constraints written by Channing Arndt and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Binding quantity constraints, especially non-negativity constraints, appear frequently in micro-level data sets. Two dual approaches to demand systems estimation in the presence of binding non-negativity constraints are reviewed. It is demonstrated that, in a demand systems context, the more commonly used approach for treating binding non-negativity constraints is incompatible with economic theory and thus produces inconsistent estimates of price response. Furthermore, Monte Carlo experiments indicate that bias can be substantial even if limit observations comprise a relatively small portion of the sample. The alternative, a direct maximum likelihood estimation approach, has desirable properties; however, analytical and computational difficulties severely hamper application. The numerical integration approach, employed here for direct maximum likelihood estimation, is presented. It is believed that this integration approach facilitates direct maximum likelihood estimation for some problems. Nevertheless, the ability to estimate complex demand systems remains constrained.

Book Proceedings of the 2023 4th International Conference on Big Data and Social Sciences ICBDSS 2023

Download or read book Proceedings of the 2023 4th International Conference on Big Data and Social Sciences ICBDSS 2023 written by Xiaofeng Ding and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-11-25 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an open access book. As a leading role in the global megatrend of scientific innovation, China has been creating a more and more open environment for scientific innovation, increasing the depth and breadth of academic cooperation, and building a community of innovation that benefits all. Such endeavors are making new contributions to the globalization and creating a community of shared future. The 4th International Conference on Big Data and Social Sciences (ICBDSS 2023) was held on August 18 - 20, 2023, in Changsha, China. In order to allow more scholars to have the opportunity to participate in the conference to share and exchange experience. This conference mainly focused on "big data", "social science" and other research fields to discuss. At present, my country has entered the era of "big data cloud migration", that is, the era of big data, the Internet of things, cloud computing and mobile Internet. The market demand for big data talents is also increasing day by day. The purpose of the conference is to provide a way for experts, scholars, engineering technicians, and technical R&D personnel engaged in big data and social science research to share scientific research results and cutting-edge technologies, understand academic development trends, broaden research ideas, strengthen academic research and discussion, and promote the academic achievement industry Platform for chemical cooperation. The conference sincerely invites experts, scholars from domestic and foreign universities, scientific research institutions, business people and other relevant personnel to participate in the conference.

Book Functional Form And Utility

Download or read book Functional Form And Utility written by Arthur Goldberger and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-04-23 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a review of classical consumer demand theory, emphasizing the form of utility and demand functions. The theory is developed in general terms with reference to the linear expenditure system and with reference to alternative specifications of complete sets of demand functions.
