Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of the workshops associated with the ER'99 18th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling is to give participants access to high level presentations on specialized, hot, or emerging scientific topics. Three themes have been selected in this respect: — Evolution and Change in Data Management (ECDM'99) dealing with han dling the evolution of data and data structure, — Reverse Engineering in Information Systems (REIS'99) aimed at exploring the issues raised by legacy systems, — The World Wide Web and Conceptual Modehng (WWWCM'99) which ana lyzes the mutual contribution of WWW resources and techniques with con ceptual modeling. ER'99 has been organized so that there is no overlap between conference ses sions and the workshops. Therefore participants can follow both the conference and the workshop presentations they are interested in. I would like to thank the ER'99 program co-chairs, Jacky Akoka and Mokrane Bouzeghoub for having given me the opportunity to organize these workshops. I would also like to thank Stephen Liddle for his valuable help in managing the evaluation procedure for submitted papers and helping to prepare the workshop proceedings for publication. August 1999 Jacques Kouloumdjian Preface for ECDM'99 The first part of this volume contains the proceedings of the First International Workshop on Evolution and Change in Data Management, ECDM'99, which was held in conjunction with the 18th International Conference on Conceptual Modehng (ER'99) in Paris, France, November 15-18, 1999.

This book was released on 1999-08-20 with total page 1123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Database and Expert Systems Applications (DEXA) conferences bring together researchers and practitioners from all over the world to exchange ideas, experiences and opinions in a friendly and stimulating environment. The papers are at once a record of what has been achieved and the first steps towards shaping the future of information systems. DEXA covers a broad field, and all aspects of database, knowledge base and related technologies and their applications are represented. Once again there were a good number of submissions: 241 papers were submitted and of these the programme committee selected 103 to be presented. DEXA’99 took place in Florence and was the tenth conference in the series, following events in Vienna, Berlin, Valencia, Prague, Athens, London, Zurich, Toulouse and Vienna. The decade has seen many developments in the areas covered by DEXA, developments in which DEXA has played its part. I would like to express thanks to all the institutions which have actively supported and made possible this conference, namely: • University of Florence, Italy • IDG CNR, Italy • FAW – University of Linz, Austria • Austrian Computer Society • DEXA Association In addition, we must thank all the people who have contributed their time and effort to make the conference possible. Special thanks go to Maria Schweikert (Technical University of Vienna), M. Neubauer and G. Wagner (FAW, University of Linz). We must also thank all the members of the programme committee, whose careful reviews are important to the quality of the conference.

Download or read book WORK LIFE BALANCE OF MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS IN CORPORATE HOSPITALS written by Dr M Kavitha and published by Zenon Academic Publishing. This book was released on with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book “Work life balance of medical professionals in corporate hospitals “chooses medical professionals who take the responsibility of health of human lives every day and play a very vital role in maintaining healthy society. Indeed they too need to be healthy not only physically but socially in the context of family, friends and also relatives. The growing stress due to medical practice has been the significant phenomenon observed in medical professionals which leads to imbalance of health and wellbeing. The critical issues of not maintaining health and wellbeing of Medical Professionals may lead to decrease in productivity. The study focuses upon analyzing the health and wellbeing through variables viz self-satisfaction, professional satisfaction and family satisfaction. The study intends to identify the impact of the three different variables upon the overall health and wellbeing through application of statistical technique i.e. Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results reflected the strength of assessing the health and wellbeing from the chosen variable data. The analysis has clearly shown that the overall satisfaction level of medical professional comprises of the personal satisfaction (63%), satisfaction from the family (59%) and satisfaction levels from the clients (62%). 37% of the professionals who had professional satisfaction were having negative impact on overall health and wellbeing of Medical Professionals. As per SEM Model, the professionals who were having satisfaction with their family life and with their patients were found to have positive impact on their health , whereas professionals having satisfaction with their profession only were having negative impact on health.

Download or read book Transactions on Large Scale Data and Knowledge Centered Systems XXI written by Abdelkader Hameurlain and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-07-16 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The LNCS journal Transactions on Large-Scale Data- and Knowledge-Centered Systems focuses on data management, knowledge discovery, and knowledge processing, which are core and hot topics in computer science. Since the 1990s, the Internet has become the main driving force behind application development in all domains. An increase in the demand for resource sharing across different sites connected through networks has led to an evolution of data- and knowledge-management systems from centralized systems to decentralized systems enabling large-scale distributed applications providing high scalability. Current decentralized systems still focus on data and knowledge as their main resource. Feasibility of these systems relies basically on P2P (peer-to-peer) techniques and the support of agent systems with scaling and decentralized control. Synergy between grids, P2P systems, and agent technologies is the key to data- and knowledge-centered systems in large-scale environments. This volume, the 21st issue of Transactions on Large-Scale Data- and Knowledge-Centered Systems, focuses on Data Warehousing and Knowledge Discovery from Big Data, and contains extended and revised versions of eight papers selected as the best papers from the 14th International Conference on Data Warehousing and Knowledge Discovery (DaWaK 2012), held in Vienna, Austria, during September 3-6, 2012. These papers cover several advanced Big Data topics, ranging from data cube computation using MapReduce to multiple aggregations over multidimensional databases, from data warehousing systems over complex energy data to OLAP-based prediction models, from extended query engines for continuous stream analytics to popular pattern mining, and from rare pattern mining to enhanced knowledge discovery from large cross-document corpora.
Download or read book Foundations of Data Organization written by Sakti P. Ghosh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 615 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Foundations of data organization is a relatively new field of research in comparison to, other branches of science. It is close to twenty years old. In this short life span of this branch of computer science, it has spread to all corners of the world, which is reflected in this book. This book covers new database application areas (databases for advanced applications and CAD/VLSI databases), computational geometry, file allocation & distributed databases, database models (including non traditional database models), database machines, query processing & physical structures for relational databases, besides traditional file organization (hashing, index file organization, mathematical file organization and consecutive retrieval property), in order to identify new trends of database research. The papers in this book originally represent talks given at the International Conference on Foundations of Data Organization, which was held on May 21-24, 1985, in Kyoto, Japan. This conference was held at Kyoto University, and sponsored by the organizing committee of the International Conference on Foundations of Data Organization and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. The conference was in cooperation with: ACM SIGMOD, IEEE Computer Society, Information Processing Society of Japan, IBM Research, Kyushu University, Kobe University, IBM Japan, Kyoto Sangyo University and Polish Academy of Sciences. This Conference was the follow-up of the first conference, which was hosted by the Polish Academy of Sciences and held at Warsaw in 1981. The Warsaw conference focused mainly on consecutive retrieval property and it's applications.
