Book Spatial Expression in Caac

Download or read book Spatial Expression in Caac written by Aurélie Cauchard and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2018-07-09 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this study, the author describes the linguistic expression of space in Caac, an endangered and under-documented Oceanic language spoken in New Caledonia, from both a descriptive and theoretical perspective. Part I provides a concise description of Caac grammar, presenting a first formal portrait of this language to the reader. Part II describes the formal and semantic features of the linguistic resources available in Caac to encode spatial relationships. Part III presents the theoretical framework based on and exploring further the vector analysis developed by Bohnemeyer (2012) and Bohnemeyer & O'Meara (2012). In particular, the author proposes an additional sub-category of vectors (Head-unspecified Vectors) which accounts for the uses of centrifugal forms in Caac. The resulting framework provides a systematic account of expressions of orientation as well as location and motion, and to combine the Frames of Reference typology (Pederson et al. 1998; Levinson, 1996, 2003; Bohnemeyer & Levinson, not dated) with an analysis of deictic expressions within a single framework. Special attention, moreover, is given to the use of Caac absolute and deictic directionals in spatial constructions involving Fictive Motion. The analysis of Caac data leads us to introduce an additional category of Fictive Motion beyond those previously recognised in the literature, labelled here "Anticipated Paths", which in turn shed new light on the nature of vectors and the relationship between location, motion and orientation.

Book Computational Methods for Multi Omics Data Analysis in Cancer Precision Medicine

Download or read book Computational Methods for Multi Omics Data Analysis in Cancer Precision Medicine written by Ehsan Nazemalhosseini-Mojarad and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-08-02 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cancer is a complex and heterogeneous disease often caused by different alterations. The development of human cancer is due to the accumulation of genetic and epigenetic modifications that could affect the structure and function of the genome. High-throughput methods (e.g., microarray and next-generation sequencing) can investigate a tumor at multiple levels: i) DNA with genome-wide association studies (GWAS), ii) epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation, histone changes and microRNAs (miRNAs) iii) mRNA. The availability of public datasets from different multi-omics data has been growing rapidly and could facilitate better knowledge of the biological processes of cancer. Computational approaches are essential for the analysis of big data and the identification of potential biomarkers for early and differential diagnosis, and prognosis.

Book Women in Gynecological Oncology Vol III 2023

Download or read book Women in Gynecological Oncology Vol III 2023 written by Priya Ranjit Bhosale and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-09-18 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are delighted to present the Frontiers in Oncology "Women in Gynecological Oncology” Volume III series of article collections. At present, less than 30% of researchers worldwide are women. Long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are discouraging girls and women away from science-related fields, and STEM research in particular. Science and gender equality are, however, essential to ensure sustainable development as highlighted by UNESCO. In order to change traditional mindsets, gender equality must be promoted, stereotypes defeated, and girls and women should be encouraged to pursue STEM careers. Therefore, Frontiers in Oncology is proud to offer this platform to promote the work of women scientists, across all fields of Oncology. The work presented here highlights the diversity of research performed across the entire breadth of Oncology research and presents advances in theory, experiment, and methodology with applications to compelling problems.

Book Biomarkers and Immunotherapy of Hepatic Biliary Pancreatic Cancers

Download or read book Biomarkers and Immunotherapy of Hepatic Biliary Pancreatic Cancers written by Yunfei Xu and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-02-29 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hepatic-biliary-pancreatic cancers, mainly including hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, gallbladder cancer, are highly aggressive malignancies with few treatment options and poor prognoses. Effects of the traditional systemic treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy, are quite limited to hepatic-biliary-pancreatic cancers. For the patients who suffer from hepatic-biliary-pancreatic cancer and lose the opportunity of radical surgery, few targeted drugs are available. Even for the drugs in clinical trial, potential drug targets and prognostic biomarkers for hepatic-biliary-pancreatic cancer are less studied compared to other common cancers such as lung cancer. Prognostic biomarker study is the initiation to explore new drug targets and revelation of the underlying mechanisms of tumor progression.

Book N Heterocyclic Carbenes

    Book Details:
  • Author : Silvia Diez-Gonzalez
  • Publisher : Royal Society of Chemistry
  • Release : 2016-11-04
  • ISBN : 1782626816
  • Pages : 637 pages

Download or read book N Heterocyclic Carbenes written by Silvia Diez-Gonzalez and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2016-11-04 with total page 637 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In less than 20 years N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) have become well-established ancillary ligands for the preparation of transition metal-based catalysts. This is mainly due to the fact that NHCs tend to bind strongly to metal centres, avoiding the need of excess ligand in catalytic reactions. Also, NHC‒metal complexes are often insensitive to air and moisture, and have proven remarkably resistant to oxidation. This book showcases the wide variety of applications of NHCs in different chemistry fields beyond being simple phosphine mimics. This second edition has been updated throughout, and now includes a new chapter on NHC‒main group element complexes. It covers the synthesis of NHC ligands and their corresponding metal complexes, as well as their bonding and stereoelectronic properties and applications in catalysis. This is complemented by related topics such as organocatalysis and biologically active complexes. Written for organic and inorganic chemists, this book is ideal for postgraduates, researchers and industrialists.
