Book The Sovereignty of God in Salvation

Download or read book The Sovereignty of God in Salvation written by E. Earle Ellis and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2011-11-03 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his new work The Sovereignty of God in Salvation E. Earle Ellis sets out to explore God's sovereign purpose both in individual salvation and in the salvation history within which the Bible has been authored, transmitted, interpreted and communicated. In the process he touches on such themes as the nature of free will; the manifestation God's sovereignty in the life and ministry of the Apostle Paul; the presence of God's hand in the transmission and interpretation of the biblical texts; and new perspectives on both the modern inclination to emphasise Paul's use of Graeco-Roman rhetoric as well as the contemporary reception of the biblical message. The sovereignty of God forms an overarching theme throughout.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Salvation and Sovereignty, Kenneth Keathley asks, “What shall a Christian do who is convinced of certain central tenets of Calvinism but not its corollaries?” He then writes, “I see salvation as a sovereign work of grace but suspect that the usual Calvinist understanding of sovereignty (that God is the cause of all things) is not sustained by the biblical witness as a whole.” Aiming to resolve this matter, the author argues that just three of Calvinism’s five TULIP points can be defended scripturally and instead builds on the ROSES acronym first presented by Timothy George (Radical depravity, Overcoming grace, Sovereign election, Eternal life, Singular redemption). In relation, Keathley looks at salvation and sovereignty through the lens of Molinism, a doctrine named after Luis Molina (1535-1600) that is based on a strong notion of God’s control and an equally firm affirmation of human freedom.

Download or read book Sovereignty of God written by Arthur W. Pink and published by Sovereign Grace Publishers,. This book was released on 2008-08 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pink (d. 1953) is noted for his independent thinking. He was so well read, and had such a photographic memory, that he could give you the page and column in a host of reference works and commentaries. This book shocked the Christian world in 1919 when he published it. He fiercely defends the sovereignty of God, and all the cognate doctrines such as the Doctrines of Grace. It is THE book to give to those just after conversion, and a prime book to give to anyone who defends the free will of man. Pink was a Baptist preacher who held pulpits in England, America, and Australia. His early training was in scientology. His conversion was instant, and complete dedication to the cause of God and truth quickly became evident. This early book by Pink lays Scripture end to end to prove God's control over all persons and events. It is uncompromising, and as such it raises the hackles on the necks of many new students of this doctrine. Persons who knew Pink seldom objected to anything he taught, because he could literally quote hundreds of verses of Scripture verbatim on the subject under discussion. This book may be overwhelming, but it is certain that its many printings have been used of God to convince people of His sovereignty. The Banner of Truth has an edition of this book, but they have abridged their edition by deleting the chapter on Reprobation. If Pink were still alive, he certainly would not have allowed this misrepresentation of his doctrinal belief: that God both elects and reprobates, as Romans 9:21?23 clearly teaches. It is an important stone to guide the steps of those who are not yet convinced of God's absolute sovereignty over all persons and events.

This excellent work is from the pen of one of the world's leading theologians, Jonathan Edwards. Edwards deals with the definition, scope and working of God's sovereign decision-making in his plan to save a people for Himself. After reading this historical work you will have no doubt that salvation is entirely a work of the good-pleasure of God and that we as men cannot contribute to our justification.

Pink unpacks the theology of the sovereignty of God for us in a way few others have before or after him. Pink dives into Scripture not only to define the sovereignty of God; he goes on to help us apply the doctrine to various aspects of our lives. Book The Sovereignty of God

Download or read book The Sovereignty of God written by Arthur Pink and published by DigiCat. This book was released on 2022-05-17 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sovereignty of God is a religion classic by English Bible teacher Arthur Pink who articulates and relates the Biblical truths of God's absolute Sovereignty with the main goal to exalt God solely from the pages of Scripture. Pink attempts to draw closer the tension between the sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man, an eternal question that remains debated even though it's seemingly plainly taught in the Scripture. The author's focus is on the divine side of the issue, defining God's sovereignty and presenting the different spheres that it works and operates. Further on he turns to the tension between the sovereignty of God and human will and responsibility.

Book The Sovereignty of God in Salvation

Download or read book The Sovereignty of God in Salvation written by Frederick William Grant and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who do you side with--Calvin or Arminius? Are we saved by God's sovereign grace or by our own choosing? For centuries, this question has divided many Christians into two camps: the Calvinists and Arminians. This pamphlet, including excerpts from F.W. Grant and C.H. Mackintosh, shows that though each system has elements of truth, the mind and ways of God cannot be contained in such narrow doctrinal confines. Rather, it is only when God's Word is allowed to speak for itself that we begin to see God's sovereign grace and man's responsibility, not as contradictory ideas which preclude the existence of the other, but rather as complementary aspects of His full and free salvation.

Book The Sovereignty of God in Our Daily Lives

Download or read book The Sovereignty of God in Our Daily Lives written by David R. Rosen and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2023-01-30 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. -Psalms 139:3-5 The sovereignty of God. Actively working. Every day. In every way. And He is actively working in you - you who believe in Jesus! The Gospel of Christ, seeing God’s sovereignty within salvation and now also within our lives, this study should help you see the glory of Christ in your daily walk of faith. Salvation is not a one-time event, and I challenge conventional wisdom -- it is not solely because of your or my efforts. For it is a gift of grace through faith given by God. For beneath our faith in Jesus is God’s active working within our hearts. Now with the Holy Spirit living within us, He works daily in us to the council of His will toward, in, and through us - giving us His grace, wisdom, and comfort each day. This book, with the Bible in hand, highlights scriptures - with my comments as a flashlight - to showcase the glory of God and to help reveal to believers and seekers alike the high value of Jesus!

This book was released on 2017-08-04 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the early church began to establish as institutional churches, it became necessary to make it clear what Christianity means. One of the major problem they faced was the problem of God's sovereignty, the freedom of will of man and how salvation of man is related to them. If God alone existed with total sovereignty over all with the Omni properties, it leaves no place for a human (for that matter for any being) to exist If God is Omni-Present and He fills all dimensions of existence, where will man exist? If God is Omni-Scient, If He knows the past, present and the future and everything must be predestined even long before you were born, then where is the freedom of choice. If there is no freedom of choice that leaves no responsibility on man with respct to his action. Even every act including sin is determined before all creation, leaves no responsibility on on the person who does it -(He has to do it) and it will be injustice to punish the person for something on which he had no power. It is the Omni-potent God who does everything including sinning; indirectly through his creation. God will then become the author of sin even though it is done by man. Thus we see that if God is Sovereign with all the Omni, then humans are simply robots and are not really responsible to their actions. It is all preprogrammed into the creation, planned even before creation by the creator. If this is the reality, then the whole story of human fall, cross, resurrection, heaven and hell are only a child play. God himself turns into a cruel monster and the creation reduces to a machine. The bible, the Christian scripture as we have it today, defined through generations, do support both the sovereignty of God and the freewill of man. Bible is clear that "We move and have our being in Him." It is this paradox that was being grapled by theologians through the ages. They form two groups: Predestinarians and Freewillians. If God is real and the creation is real how can we maintain sovereignty of God and Freedom of the real Sons of God?. It is this struggle that is being traced in this book.

The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century. ++++ The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title.
