Book Soul Culture Practical Psychology

Download or read book Soul Culture Practical Psychology written by Arthur Adolphus Lindsay and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-26 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Soul-Culture (Practical Psychology): Scientific Prayer (Religious Suggestion), Religion (Attitude Toward Spirit), Theology (Conception of Supreme Power and Intelligence) The compound word, Soul-Culture, is made up of "Soul," which brings us at once to the religious phase of man, and "Culture," which belongs to the mental and physical. I will use these terms to comprehend all that man is, and since I am defining my words I cannot imagine the presumption of student or critic who would insist there is something yet in man beyond and over all that of which I speak. I have always defined Psychology as the science of the Soul, then proceeded to show the relationship of man's will, reasoning or sense mind, and his body to the Soul. Both my books, "The New Psychology" and "Mind the Builder" are faithful to that order, definition, and relationship. All of my lecturing, writing, and suggesting have been preparatory to a large conception of the whole subject of Man Building, under the title of Soul-Culture - Soul, the religious side, and Culture, the physical and mental. Book excerpt: Reconnect to your soul’s innate wisdom with ancient healing practices, nature-based wisdom, and psychological principles--live authentically, nourish your inner power, and be a force for personal and collective liberation. If you’ve ever wondered what was missing--or felt out of step with the social and cultural programming of the westernized worldview--Soul Authority will empower you to find balance, build your soul sanctuary, and become a powerful agent of positive transformation. There is a soul authority that exists in all of us, a higher knowing that connects us to each other, the living Earth, and back to ourselves--even as we live in a world that sows division, destruction, and uncertainty. Shamanic eco-psychologist Loraine Van Tuyl, PhD, shows you how to tap into this innate wisdom, giving you the tools to trust its insights, hear its voice, and come home to our interrelated collective soul. Interwoven with stories from the author’s personal journey from growing up in Suriname during a military coup to pursuing her doctorate in clinical psychology amid a profound spiritual awakening, Soul Authority is an inspiring alchemical exploration of rekindling the deep knowing that’s accessible to all of us. Through exercises, reflections, and concrete action steps, you’ll discover: • How to find your own True North, the guiding compass aligned with your inner truth • Practical skills for combatting the burnout, overwhelm, and disconnection that prevents us from making a bigger impact in the world • How to tap into the soul mission that nourishes your purpose • How your healing journey and collective liberation are interconnected • How to heal the “ancestral deficit” and “nature deficit” that leave you overwhelmed • Strategies for grounding, clearing, visibility, and creativity

Book The Oxford Handbook of Culture and Psychology

Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of Culture and Psychology written by Jaan Valsiner and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2012-03-08 with total page 1149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The goal of cultural psychology is to explain the ways in which human cultural constructions -- for example, rituals, stereotypes, and meanings -- organize and direct human acting, feeling, and thinking in different social contexts. A rapidly growing, international field of scholarship, cultural psychology is ready for an interdisciplinary, primary resource. Linking psychology, anthropology, sociology, archaeology, and history, The Oxford Handbook of Culture and Psychology is the quintessential volume that unites the variable perspectives from these disciplines. Comprised of over fifty contributed chapters, this book provides a necessary, comprehensive overview of contemporary cultural psychology. Bridging psychological, sociological, and anthropological perspectives, one will find in this handbook: - A concise history of psychology that includes valuable resources for innovation in psychology in general and cultural psychology in particular - Interdisciplinary chapters including insights into cultural anthropology, cross-cultural psychology, culture and conceptions of the self, and semiotics and cultural connections - Close, conceptual links with contemporary biological sciences, especially developmental biology, and with other social sciences - A section detailing potential methodological innovations for cultural psychology By comparing cultures and the (often differing) human psychological functions occuring within them, The Oxford Handbook of Culture and Psychology is the ideal resource for making sense of complex and varied human phenomena.
