This book was released on 1993 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains two fundamental papers. The first is, in essence, a short monograph devoted to the theory of periodic motions in singularly perturbed systems. The second deals with structural properties of the solutions of a system having infinitely many switchings on a finite time interval to Hamiltonian systems with discontinuous right-hand side.

Book Matrix Completions Moments and Sums of Hermitian Squares

Download or read book Matrix Completions Moments and Sums of Hermitian Squares written by Mihály Bakonyi and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2011-07-18 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intensive research in matrix completions, moments, and sums of Hermitian squares has yielded a multitude of results in recent decades. This book provides a comprehensive account of this quickly developing area of mathematics and applications and gives complete proofs of many recently solved problems. With MATLAB codes and more than 200 exercises, the book is ideal for a special topics course for graduate or advanced undergraduate students in mathematics or engineering, and will also be a valuable resource for researchers. Often driven by questions from signal processing, control theory, and quantum information, the subject of this book has inspired mathematicians from many subdisciplines, including linear algebra, operator theory, measure theory, and complex function theory. In turn, the applications are being pursued by researchers in areas such as electrical engineering, computer science, and physics. The book is self-contained, has many examples, and for the most part requires only a basic background in undergraduate mathematics, primarily linear algebra and some complex analysis. The book also includes an extensive discussion of the literature, with close to 600 references from books and journals from a wide variety of disciplines.

Book Operator Theory and Related Topics

Download or read book Operator Theory and Related Topics written by V.M. Adamyan and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present book is the second of the two volume Proceedings of the Mark Krein International Conference on Operator Theory and Applications. This conference, which was dedicated to the 90th Anniversary of the prominent mathematician Mark Krein, was held in Odessa, Ukraine from 18-22 August, 1997. The conference focused on the main ideas, methods, results, and achievements of M. G. Krein. This second volume is devoted to operator theory and related topics. It opens with the bibliography of M. G. Krein and a number of survey papers about his work. The main part of the book consists of original research papers presenting the state of the art in operator theory and its applications. The first volume of these proceedings, entitled Differential Operators and related Topics, concerns the other aspects of the conference. The two volumes will be of interest to a wide-range of readership in pure and applied mathematics, physics and engineering sciences. Book Multivariable Operator Theory

Download or read book Multivariable Operator Theory written by Raúl E. Curto and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1995 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a collection of papers presented at a conference on multivariable operator theory. The articles contain contributions to a variety of areas and topics which may be viewed as forming an emerging new subject. This subject involves the study of geometric rather than topological invariants associated with the general theme of operator theory in several variables. This collection will spur further discussion among the different research groups.

Book The Classical Moment Problem and Some Related Questions in Analysis

Download or read book The Classical Moment Problem and Some Related Questions in Analysis written by N.I. Akhiezer and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2020-12-01 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mathematical theory for many application areas depends on a deep understanding of the theory of moments. These areas include medical imaging, signal processing, computer visualization, and data science. The problem of moments has also found novel applications to areas such as control theory, image analysis, signal processing, polynomial optimization, and statistical big data. The Classical Moment Problem and Some Related Questions in Analysis presents a unified treatment of the development of the classical moment problem from the late 19th century to the middle of the 20th century. Important connections between the moment problem and many branches of analysis are presented. In this self-contained text, readers will find a unified exposition of important classical results, which are difficult to read in the original journals, as well as a strong foundation for many areas in modern applied mathematics. Researchers in areas that use techniques developed for the classical moment problem will find the book of interest.

Book Questions of Time and Tense

Download or read book Questions of Time and Tense written by Robin Le Poidevin and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 1998 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These essays broaden the debate on the nature of time. They provide an outline to the debate, presenting rival theories which demonstrate that such questions are intimately connected with issues in other fields of philosophy.

Book Flat Extensions of Positive Moment Matrices Recursively Generated Relations

Download or read book Flat Extensions of Positive Moment Matrices Recursively Generated Relations written by Raúl E. Curto and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1998 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, the authors develop new computational tests for existence and uniqueness of representing measures $\mu$ in the Truncated Complex Moment Problem: $\gamma {ij}=\int \bar zizj\, d\mu$ $(0\le i+j\le 2n)$. Conditions for the existence of finitely atomic representing measures are expressed in terms of positivity and extension properties of the moment matrix $M(n)(\gamma )$ associated with $\gamma \equiv \gamma {(2n)}$: $\gamma {00}, \dots ,\gamma {0,2n},\dots ,\gamma {2n,0}$, $\gamma {00}>0$. This study includes new conditions for flat (i.e., rank-preserving) extensions $M(n+1)$ of $M(n)\ge 0$; each such extension corresponds to a distinct rank $M(n)$-atomic representing measure, and each such measure is minimal among representing measures in terms of the cardinality of its support. For a natural class of moment matrices satisfying the tests of recursive generation, recursive consistency, and normal consistency, the existence problem for minimal representing measures is reduced to the solubility of small systems of multivariable algebraic equations. In a variety of applications, including cases of the quartic moment problem ($n=2$), the text includes explicit contructions of minimal representing measures via the theory of flat extensions. Additional computational texts are used to prove non-existence of representing measures or the non-existence of minimal representing measures. These tests are used to illustrate, in very concrete terms, new phenomena, associated with higher-dimensional moment problems that do not appear in the classical one-dimensional moment problem.

Book Sum of Even Powers of Real Linear Forms

Download or read book Sum of Even Powers of Real Linear Forms written by Bruce Arie Reznick and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1992 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work initiates a systematic analysis of the representation of real forms of even degree as sums of powers of linear forms and the resulting implications in real algebraic geometry, number theory, combinatorics, functional analysis, and numerical analysis. The proofs utilize elementary techniques from linear algebra, convexity, number theory, and real algebraic geometry and many explicit examples and relevant historical remarks are presented.
