In a systematic and scientifically rigorous manner, the author has examined nutrition problem in seventeen purposely selected villages of 542 families and 1,084 children in different income groups. The author has critically analysed the existing nutrients availability, food habits, nutrients supply, actual nutrients intake, malnutrition and deficiency disease problems in the central part of India.

Those disparities are caused not only by fundamental differences in health status across segments of the population, but also because of inequities in factors that impact health status, so-called determinants of health. Only part of an individual's health status depends on his or her behavior and choice; community-wide problems like poverty, unemployment, poor education, inadequate housing, poor public transportation, interpersonal violence, and decaying neighborhoods also contribute to health inequities, as well as the historic and ongoing interplay of structures, policies, and norms that shape lives. When these factors are not optimal in a community, it does not mean they are intractable: such inequities can be mitigated by social policies that can shape health in powerful ways. Communities in Action: Pathways to Health Equity seeks to delineate the causes of and the solutions to health inequities in the United States. This report focuses on what communities can do to promote health equity, what actions are needed by the many and varied stakeholders that are part of communities or support them, as well as the root causes and structural barriers that need to be overcome.

Consequently, they are likely to have impaired immune systems, poor cognitive development, low productivity as adults, and susceptibility to diet-related chronic diseases such as hypertension and coronary heart disease later in life. Undernourished female preschoolers are likely to grow into undernourished young women who are more likely to give birth to babies who are undernourished even before they are born, thus perpetuating the intergenerational transmission of deprivation. This report sheds light on some of the main causes of child malnutrition, projects how many children are likely to be malnourished in the year 2020 given current trends, and identifies priority actions for reducing malnutrition most quickly in the coming decades.

To function as effectively as expected, BRIN has launched 12 research organizations with each is accountable for a specific research field as reflected by the expertise of the pertinent researchers. Among those, Research Organization for Health was established as an answer to the major challenge of overcoming national burdens which are holistically captured as the roadmaps of SDG’s Indonesia where Health stands specially as the top three priority and regarded as Good Health-Wellbeing. It is clear that what have been produced through long chain of processes in the research chambers must be driven forward and translated accordingly to reach downstream utilizations in such a way that the good health and well-being are reachable in any levels. As to manifesting these goals into realization, knowledge sharing is deemed to be a plausible vehicle. This enables disseminations of most current research projects related to health across research institution, regionally or globally. Therefore, we see the need to organize our very first international conference that is, further, set as one of our annual events with contemporary umbrella themes. We welcome researchers, scholars, and practitioners in health and health-related fields to share their insightful research results in our conference. The general objective of BRIN’s 1st International Conference for Health (ICHR) is to facilitate dissemination and exchange of most recent progresses made across research institutions and to promote prospectus multi-nationals and or multi-institutional collaborations to achieve the good-health and well-being.

The slow pace of any upward movement in terms of various development indicators in low-income Indian states is due to a number of factors, including their historical disadvantages. The book provides a holistic, yet critical, region-wise analysis of the achievements of Uttar Pradesh compared to other states and to India as a whole, in the context of indicators of inclusive development, namely, growth, employment, poverty, infrastructure, agriculture, industry, education and health.
