Book Entrepreneurship and Well being

Download or read book Entrepreneurship and Well being written by Slavica Singer and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-02-15 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contributing to the targets of SDG #17, this book interrogates how the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) and other indicators are (or can be) relevant for entering the global discussion on UN SDGs. By highlighting the topic of 'well-being' as a major connecting point between the SDGs, the GEM and other surveys the book has three main purposes: firstly, it shows that GEM data can contribute significantly to the monitoring process of the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals; secondly it analyses the survey’s capacity to add value to the global discussion on well-being; thirdly, the book places emphasis on the pressing need for data in order to monitor the achievement of the SDGs. Ultimately, the book provides sound research that can serve as a basis for discussion with the UN on potential partnerships within the framework of SDG 17. The authors encourage GEM and other researchers to ensure that their data serves as a reliable partner to the UN in building a better world, based on well-being for everyone.

Book Sustainability the Circular Economy and Consumer Law in Slovenia

Download or read book Sustainability the Circular Economy and Consumer Law in Slovenia written by Petra Weingerl and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sustainability goals and the circular economy have been high on the list of priorities of the EU and its Member States over the past few years. In Slovenia, they have found their way into the Constitution and into the key strategic national documents, including the Slovenian Development Strategy 2030 and the Roadmap for the Transition to the Circular Economy. Though consumers play a crucial role as enablers of the circular economy, there has been tension between the sustainability aims and aims of consumer law, which are not always aligned. As provided by the EU's Circular Economy Package, '[t]he choices made by millions of consumers can support or hamper the circular economy'. The integration of environmental policy into consumer law is pursued through regulation on the supply and on demand side of the market, i.e. it is aimed at stimulating sustainable production and consumption. While the traditional consumer law paradigm envisages balancing of interests of consumers as the weaker parties on the one hand and businesses on the other, sustainability can be one aspect that is weighed in this balancing exercise, and thus contributes to the paradigm shift in accordance with horizontal clauses found in Articles 11 TFEU (environmental protection) and Articles 12 TFEU (consumer protection), as well as in accordance with Articles 37 and 38 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, respectively. This contribution will assess whether and how sustainability goals and the circular economy are internalized in consumer law and policy in Slovenia, with an emphasis on civil law rights and obligations.

Book School Policy Reform in Europe

Download or read book School Policy Reform in Europe written by John Benedicto Krejsler and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-07-31 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses national school policy reforms in a number of key European countries and shows how these are framed in transnational collaborations that meet with national particularities and contestations. It gives an overview of school policy developments that represents the diversity of Europe within a comparative framework. It takes point of departure in the fact that European countries in their school and education policies have been increasingly aligning with each other, mostly via transnational collaborations, the OECD, EU, and the Bologna Process. Even the IEA has been instrumental to motivate alignments by means of influential surveys, knowledge production and methodological development. This alignment in terms of common standards, social technologies, qualification frameworks and so forth have aimed at facilitating mobility of students, workers, business and so forth as well as fostering a European identity among citizens from Europe’s patchwork of small and medium-size countries, representing a patchwork of different languages, cultures and societal contexts. In national recontextualizations, however, alignments have been continuously contested according to the particularities of what has been possible educationally and politically in the different national contexts. Furthermore, the return of national(isms) as well as the rise of edubusiness and digitalization have been increasingly influential. This book thus concludes that increasing transnational alignments have to be observed with meticulous attention to different national contexts that matter greatly.

Book excerpt: Intersectoral cooperation is key to identifying and reducing health inequalities, which are result of complex problems at the global and national level. In order to achieve our common goal, to identify, reduce and prevent inequalities, we must bring all stakeholders together and encourage their cooperation. This will enable us to design adequate (indeed the most optimal) proposals for decision makers for developing health policies that improve health and reduce health inequalities. The Slovenian Development Strategy 2030 points out health as one of the main focuses of the strategy. Reducing health inequalities is one of the key contemporary challenges to creating the conditions for a high quality of life. The aim is to improve the population's health in all regions, particularly among the elderly, the socially deprived and the less educated.
