Book Sliding Down the Mountain in a Basket

Download or read book Sliding Down the Mountain in a Basket written by Bronwyn Wilson and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2022-10-25 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Finding wonder and humor in a journey to live free of anxiety Out of anxious childhood beginnings, Bronwyn Wilson developed an anxiety disorder. She worried about things that would never happen. She traveled no further than the grocery store. She quit driving over bridges, riding in elevators, entering parking garages, going out at night, and refused to ever board an airplane. As she worried about possible dangers, her world grew smaller while physical ailments grew larger. Doctors couldn’t find a biological cause for her hives, dizziness, and intestinal issues. Searching for answers led her to ask, how has this happened? What is anxiety? Where does it come from? Where does it lead? In her memoir, Wilson travels through the Mediterranean using the new coping skills she has learned. How does she handle dangling in a gondola high above the town of Funchal, Portugal? How will she cope when she discovers herself sliding down a mile-long road in a wicker basket? What happens when she wanders the streets of Barcelona searching for underwear? Wilson’s story offers a message of hope and humor for those suffering from anxiety, or for those who know someone living with it, or for those simply wanting an inspiring read. In addition, she offers nine recovery steps that helped her break free of anxiety’s grip and led her to physical and emotional well-being.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contemplating the multitude of facets that are required to sustain a flourishing of mankind on earth, the author contends that Divine Providence should be accepted as an undeniable reality. Such being the case, it follows that the Hand Of The Creator would be essential in directing events that would consequentially become influential within that flourishing. This novel depicts the development of characters and events, and the manner in which their significance may have culminated at the Battle of Glorieta Pass in New Mexico. It describes how their presence could have directed the unfolding of this highly significant and influential Civil War battle. Though molded into the context of a novel, historical reference is followed to a large degree in this novel, in order to present the reader with the experience of this incomparable faction of American history. The Western Expansion encompassed the Mormon migration, the buffalo migration, The Pony Express, Wells Fargo, the Telegraph, The Butterfield Stage Line, the railroad, the Indian campaign, the slavery question, and the Civil War. The reader can reflect on the experiences of a youth engulfed in this environment as the youth encounters and contemplates the wild western territories. Olof Swenson believes that at sixteen years of age, a man should be making his own way in life. Unfortunately, his father has been dictating his and his brothers paths ever since he decided to unsuccessfully follow the wealth of California gold prospectors. Now it is the Rocky Mountain gold rush and Olof does not want to abandon the two men he loves most. Seemingly with no other choice, he leaves everything behind once again and embarks on yet another gold adventure with his family without any idea of what lies ahead. As they journey across a dangerous wilderness inhabited by Native Americans and other pioneers, Olof becomes embroiled in a series of internal struggles as he fights to survive the hardships of the trip, attempts to decide what to do about the potential wife patiently waiting for him back home, and fends off attacks from Native American warriors. But when an unfortunate mishap suddenly draws him into the Civil War, Olofs determination and lifelong convictions are challenged like never before as the battle of Glorieta Pass begins. In a Buffalo Robe shares the gripping tale of a young mans experiences as a journey for gold with his family unwittingly leads him straight into a historical Civil War battle.

Charles Dickens, Robert Louis Stevenson, Theodore Roosevelt, Mark Twain, Walt Whitman, Frances Elizabeth Willard, John Muir, Jack London, Zane Grey, Ernest Hemingway, Ring Lardner, Bill Tilden, Bobby Jones, Helen Mills, Paul Gallico, and many more prowled America's sporting grounds with pen in hand in a time when, as Grantland Rice put it, "a flame...lit up the sporting skies and covered the world."

Book SUPERNATURAL EVENTS ON PLANET ZENIA

Download or read book SUPERNATURAL EVENTS ON PLANET ZENIA written by Karmen Worden and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-11-03 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mera, Matt, and David are sixth graders who won first place in a State Contest of the Arts. The prize is a week on Planet Zenia. What a surprise when they hear about strange things that happen when Earth kids come to Zenia: a talent, skill, or an unusual interest of a child suddenly becomes enhanced. The rangers have screens in the Control Center where they watch students for unexpected behaviors. On the swamp boat Mera screams at a hawk that grabs a baby croc by the tail. When she yells, "Drop the croc" three times, an unusual thing happens: the hawk drops the croc. She says she mind-connected to the hawk, but her friends won't believe it - unless it happens again with another creature in the jungle. Mera loves making and flying her skyplane, activated by a remote control, and the group use it to fly David's tree house and place it in a tree across the river from the dragon's cave. All three of the friends want to be the first to release the dragon from the cave in the mountains. Matt doesn't care about danger when he walks in the jungle alone. When a panther attacks, he jumps to a limb of a tree and finds himself sitting on the top branch. Later, when they visit the Weejees, the native people on the land, he rushes to save a child who climbs on Mera's skyplane and smashes it into a tree in the dragons' grazing field. The village people watch Matt save Leema, and they say, "Must be miracle. Who can jump that high?" When David visits the native people, they discover he has communication abilities that will change the people's lives forever.
