Download or read book Maestro written by Melissa Rea and published by Satin Romance. This book was released on 2021-11-16 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gabriella stands on a gallows one day before her 19th birthday in 1718. She tells her story to a young blacksmith, a surly milkmaid, and a mute dwarf who is much more than the muckraker he seems. The pampered daughter of a count, Gabriella’s entire existence has been her music, until one afternoon’s sensual exploration leads to the shame of two noble families and her exile to a convent school for orphan girls, the Ospedale della Pieta in Venice, Italy. Antonio Vivaldi, the school’s Maestro of the Concerto, teaches the students and composes. She tells of her friend, Veronica, a sublimely talented violinist whose cold eyes hide tragic secrets and of whose murder she now stands convicted. With tears in her eyes, she speaks of her love, Raphael, the handsome overseer whom she had planned to marry. The story of her desperate attempt to learn the truth of a terrible curse that took her own child’s life, and save Veronica from a dark affair, holds the crowd’s rapt attention. Now she must escape with the help of her friends, from the Ospedale, and perhaps those in the crowd assembled to watch her hang.

Download or read book Natural Born Gangster written by C. J. H. MOORE and published by Page Publishing, Inc. This book was released on 2020-03-09 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chris Bell was born on the West Side of Chicago and attended Catholic elementary school on the South Side. He was an unusual and gifted star child who was beyond his mother's understanding. His gang activities kept him out of the regular sequential leap from grade to grade. He joined his first martial arts gang, GGWB (Good Guys Wear Black), just after kindergarten, because he was being bullied everyday by an older kid. He earned his high school diploma by challenging the GED at his mother's behest, after reading books on math, language arts, classics, and Aesop's Fables, which he loved the most, in local libraries day and night, well before his eighteenth birthday, and earned the title "the richest man in the world" by working and fighting in the underground. In his youth, he consolidated the dangerous Black Disciples and Vice Lord gangs of Chicago and all their subdivisions to complete his dream in building another Black Wall Street on the West Side. After he met Madi, Derek Jenkins, and the Stepfather, he moved closer to his dreams. When the Shadow of Knights confiscated sixty tons of drugs and guns off the Chicago streets and placed them on the FBI's doorstep, the ghetto ninjas were a marked group.
Download or read book Cold War Fighter Pilots Songbook written by Fortuna Call Sign: and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2024-01-26 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The compilation of the book contains not all the songs Fighter Pilots sung during the Cold War era, but quiet a lot. The sources were exclusively my collection of unpublished Squadron Songbooks throughout the english speaking Fighter Pilots Community. They reflect the sheer emotions, the black humors of ill fated conflicts and the absence of women during their deployments. At the time the compilation is published, most of the songs are already banned from the Squadrons and O-Clubs and within short time they will be forgotten as a Social Squadron Part of a special Breed of Aviators during the 60s trough 90s. Some songs contain words, which were used only at the bar after some beer.

Download or read book Life s Little Ironies written by Thomas Hardy and published by 谷月社. This book was released on 2015-12-28 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CHAPTER I To the eyes of a man viewing it from behind, the nut-brown hair was a wonder and a mystery. Under the black beaver hat, surmounted by its tuft of black feathers, the long locks, braided and twisted and coiled like the rushes of a basket, composed a rare, if somewhat barbaric, example of ingenious art. One could understand such weavings and coilings being wrought to last intact for a year, or even a calendar month; but that they should be all demolished regularly at bedtime, after a single day of permanence, seemed a reckless waste of successful fabrication. And she had done it all herself, poor thing. She had no maid, and it was almost the only accomplishment she could boast of. Hence the unstinted pains. She was a young invalid lady—not so very much of an invalid—sitting in a wheeled chair, which had been pulled up in the front part of a green enclosure, close to a bandstand, where a concert was going on, during a warm June afternoon. It had place in one of the minor parks or private gardens that are to be found in the suburbs of London, and was the effort of a local association to raise money for some charity. There are worlds within worlds in the great city, and though nobody outside the immediate district had ever heard of the charity, or the band, or the garden, the enclosure was filled with an interested audience sufficiently informed on all these.
