Book Six New Choral Pieces for Youth and Children s Choirs

Download or read book Six New Choral Pieces for Youth and Children s Choirs written by Matt Walker and published by . This book was released on 2020-04-19 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains six original songs for youth and children's choirs, in SA, SSA, SAB or SATB format, with piano accompaniment. Most amateur choral societies are under continuous financial pressure. For this reason, you may photocopy any or all of this publication for your own use and the use of any choir or choral society you are associated with. Also included is an unlimited performance licence; you are free to perform any of these pieces at any time and in any setting. You are also able to record (both audio and video) any of the pieces here - but please credit me. 'The Eyes Of A Child', 'Forever' and 'I Am Tomorrow' are written for SA. 'Nil Desperandum' (yes, it's in Latin, sorry) is written for SSA. There are three different arrangements of 'We Believe': SSA, SAB and SATB. 'Go On Living' (which is my favourite of this collection) is arranged for Upper and Lower Voices. You can adapt any of the pieces to suit your choir. If you are lucky enough to have some tenors and basses, the tenors can sing the soprano part an octave lower and the basses can sing the alto part an octave lower. CONTENTS: The Eyes Of A Child - Forever - Go On Living - I Am Tomorrow - Nil Desperandum - We Believe (SSA, SAB & SATB)

Book Words with Wings Instructor Guide

Download or read book Words with Wings Instructor Guide written by Wilko Brouwers and published by . This book was released on 2018-10-17 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The instructor guide for Wilko Brouwers' Gregorian chant instruction program for children. Twenty lessons to introduce Gregorian chant to children's choirs: music educator Wilko Brouwers has put together this program based on a lifetime of learning and reflection on the past century of music education. The result is nothing short of brilliant. The program is simple, short, and focused, leading children to sing chant one step at a time. Words with Wings is a gigantic breakthrough for the future of Catholic children's choirs. At last now, the parish will have a place to begin, a method for getting started, a goal in mind, and materials that pull all of this together. This is more than a work of cultural reconstruction, though it is that. This is about the future of art in the liturgy, which is to say, the future of art and faith. It has to begin with the young if it is going to really take root in Catholic life. But the usefulness goes beyond the Catholic parish. Since the ancient world, people have understood that music is an essential part of education. This simple and clear program of 20 lessons allows this wisdom to enjoy a new life within any educational context. This instructor guide is a perfect-bound softcover, 69 pages. The student workbook and the demonstration CD are also available, and supplementary material is available on-line.

Book Evangelical Worship

    Book Details:
  • Author : Melanie C. Ross
  • Publisher : Oxford University Press
  • Release : 2021-09-17
  • ISBN : 019753077X
  • Pages : 321 pages

Download or read book Evangelical Worship written by Melanie C. Ross and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2021-09-17 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Say the words "evangelical worship" to anyone in the United States -- even if they are not particularly religious -- and a picture will likely spring to mind unbidden: a mass of white, middle-class worshippers with eyes closed, faces tilted upward, and hands raised to the sky. Yet despite the centrality of this image, many scholars have underestimated evangelical worship as little more than a manipulative effort to arouse devotional exhilaration. It is frequently dismissed as a reiteration of nineteenth-century revivalism or a derivative imitation of secular entertainment -- three Christian rock songs and a spiritual TED talk. But by failing to engage this worship seriously, we miss vital insights into a form of Protestantism that exerts widespread influence in the United States and around the world. Evangelical Worship offers a new way forward in the study of American evangelical Christianity. Weaving together insights from American religious history and liturgical studies, and drawing on extensive fieldwork in seven congregations, Melanie C. Ross brings contemporary evangelical worship to life. She argues that corporate worship is not a peripheral "extra" tacked on to a fully-formed spiritual, political, and cultural movement, but rather the crucible through which congregations forge, argue over, and enact their unique contributions to the American mosaic known as evangelicalism.

Book The Columbia Guide to the Holocaust

Download or read book The Columbia Guide to the Holocaust written by Donald L. Niewyk and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2012-07-24 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Offering a multidimensional approach to one of the most important episodes of the twentieth century, The Columbia Guide to the Holocaust offers readers and researchers a general history of the Holocaust while delving into the core issues and debates in the study of the Holocaust today. Each of the book's five distinct parts stands on its own as valuable research aids; together, they constitute an integrated whole. Part I provides a narrative overview of the Holocaust, placing it within the larger context of Nazi Germany and World War II. Part II examines eight critical issues or controversies in the study of the Holocaust, including the following questions: Were the Jews the sole targets of Nazi genocide, or must other groups, such as homosexuals, the handicapped, Gypsies, and political dissenters, also be included? What are the historical roots of the Holocaust? How and why did the "Final Solution" come about? Why did bystanders extend or withhold aid? Part III consists of a concise chronology of major events and developments that took place surrounding the Holocaust, including the armistice ending World War I, the opening of the first major concentration camp at Dachau, Germany's invasion of Poland, the failed assassination attempt against Hitler, and the formation of Israel. Part IV contains short descriptive articles on more than two hundred key people, places, terms, and institutions central to a thorough understanding of the Holocaust. Entries include Adolf Eichmann, Anne Frank, the Warsaw Ghetto, Aryanization, the SS, Kristallnacht, and the Catholic Church. Part V presents an annotated guide to the best print, video, electronic, and institutional resources in English for further study. Armed with the tools contained in this volume, students or researchers investigating this vast and complicated topic will gain an informed understanding of one of the greatest tragedies in world history.
