This book was released on with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Una tendencia al alza / The Teaching of Spanish in the UK. A Growing Demand.

Book excerpt: For anyone wishing to understand the process of transforming education in Spain, Inmaculada Egido has presents a detailed and encyclopedic description of events. Against historic background, this book discusses the impact of recent and current change, a process which has transformed education from a very centralised to a decentralised and democratic system. As the author indicates :In the last three decades education in Spain has been characterised by a profound transformation. Practically, there is no aspect of the educational system that has not been modified during this period, including both the administration and government of education and the structure and content of educational levels, the education financing and the training and work conditions of teachers... despite the delay in the starting point the achievements of the Spanish educational system in the last years are undeniable'. The autonomy of schools receives much attention not the least because of the changes which affect school governance, the participation of parents and the role of the school principal. The author concludes that, despite democratisation, there remains the need to further this process in relation to the internal functioning of schools and especially in relation to the actual participation of parents and pupils. PARTIAL CONTENTS: Acknowledgements; The Spanish Educational System; Historical Overview of the Spanish Educational System; Key Features of the Educational System; Legislation, Principles and Administration of the Educational System; Structure of the Spanish Educational System; Teaching Staff; An Overview of the Spanish Educational System: Light and Shade; School Management: Meeting the Challenges of the New Millennium.

Book Decentralisation and Privatisation in Education

Download or read book Decentralisation and Privatisation in Education written by Joseph Zajda and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-11-29 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Decentralisation and Privatisation in Education explores the ambivalent and problematic relationship between the State, privatisation, and decentralisation in education globally. Using a number of diverse paradigms, ranging from critical theory to globalisation, the authors, by focusing on privatisation, marketisation and decentralisation, will attempt to examine critically both the reasons and outcomes of education reforms, policy change and transformation and provide a more informed critique on the Western-driven models of accountability, quality and school effectiveness. We want to demonstrate that claims of advantages in ‘efficiency’ brought about by privatisation in education are not always supported empirically as proposed by proponents. The book examines the overall interplay between privatisation, decentralisation and the role of the state. The authors draw upon recent studies in the areas of decentralisation, privatisation and the role of the state in education. By referring to Bourdieu’s call for critical policy analysts to engage in a ‘critical sociology’ of their own contexts of practice, and poststructuralist and postmodernist pedagogy, this collection of book chapters demonstrate how central discourses surrounding the debate of privatisation, decentralisation and the role of the state are formed in the contexts of dominant ideology, power, and culturally and historically derived perceptions and practices. The authors discuss the newly constructed and re-invented imperatives of privatisation, decentralisation and marketisation and show how they may well be operating as an educational model of a new global ‘master narrative’— playing a hegemonic role within the framework of economic, political and cultural hybrids of globalization.

Book Evaluation of Schools Providing Compulsory Education in Europe

Download or read book Evaluation of Schools Providing Compulsory Education in Europe written by EURIDICE. and published by Ministerio de Educación. This book was released on 2004 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Improving the quality of education is a constant concern of national policy-makers. Evaluation of the education offered pupils is one of the means by which this aim may be achieved. Such evaluation may assume several forms depending on the components subject to investigation, whether they be the processes activated by teachers, the tasks assumed by schools, local authority school management and administration, the functioning of the education system as a whole, or the performance of pupils who may be examined by individual teachers or schools, a local education authority or a national body. All such aspects might be the focus of a comparative study. However, the present study concentrates solely on approaches to the evaluation of schools providing compulsory education. The decision to proceed in this way reflects the terms of the Recommendation of the European Parliament and of the Council (12 February 2001) on European Cooperation in Quality Evaluation in School Education. It is clear from the Recommendation that improvements in quality evaluation in education ultimately hinge on developments at school level. The Recommendation emphasises the interrelation between external and internal evaluation, and calls on the Member States to 'encourage school self-evaluation as a method of creating learning and improving schools, within a balanced framework of school self-evaluation and any external evaluations' (page 60/53 of the Recommendation). The present introduction is in two parts. The first establishes the general framework for this comparative investigation by indicating the focus of the study (schools as entities), along with its analytical unit (the approach to evaluation), its methodology, scope, overall structure and content. The second part contains diagrams that provide a general outline of evaluation systems. These diagrams will enable readers who so wish to understand how the evaluation of schools is situated in relation to a country's entire system of educational evaluation. The diagrams may vary considerably from one country to the next both from the perspective of the evaluators and in terms of the components evaluated (whether pupils, teachers, schools, local educational providers or the education system overall). The second part of the introduction will also provide some insight into the position of each of the different countries vis-̉-vis the study as a whole.

Book Libertad de emprender

Download or read book Libertad de emprender written by Daniel M. Mondéjar and published by Editorial Almuzara. This book was released on 2012-03 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
