Book Vehicle Power Management

Download or read book Vehicle Power Management written by Xi Zhang and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-08-12 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vehicle Power Management addresses the challenge of improving vehicle fuel economy and reducing emissions without sacrificing vehicle performance, reliability and durability. It opens with the definition, objectives, and current research issues of vehicle power management, before moving on to a detailed introduction to the modeling of vehicle devices and components involved in the vehicle power management system, which has been proven to be the most cost-effective and efficient method for initial-phase vehicle research and design. Specific vehicle power management algorithms and strategies, including the analytical approach, optimal control, intelligent system approaches and wavelet technology, are derived and analyzed for realistic applications. Vehicle Power Management also gives a detailed description of several key technologies in the design phases of hybrid electric vehicles containing battery management systems, component optimization, hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop. Vehicle Power Management provides graduate and upper level undergraduate students, engineers, and researchers in both academia and the automotive industry, with a clear understanding of the concepts, methodologies, and prospects of vehicle power management.

Book Modeling and Control of Engines and Drivelines

Download or read book Modeling and Control of Engines and Drivelines written by Lars Eriksson and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-04-07 with total page 589 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Control systems have come to play an important role in the performance of modern vehicles with regards to meeting goals on low emissions and low fuel consumption. To achieve these goals, modeling, simulation, and analysis have become standard tools for the development of control systems in the automotive industry. Modeling and Control of Engines and Drivelines provides an up-to-date treatment of the topic from a clear perspective of systems engineering and control systems, which are at the core of vehicle design. This book has three main goals. The first is to provide a thorough understanding of component models as building blocks. It has therefore been important to provide measurements from real processes, to explain the underlying physics, to describe the modeling considerations, and to validate the resulting models experimentally. Second, the authors show how the models are used in the current design of control and diagnosis systems. These system designs are never used in isolation, so the third goal is to provide a complete setting for system integration and evaluation, including complete vehicle models together with actual requirements and driving cycle analysis. Key features: Covers signals, systems, and control in modern vehicles Covers the basic dynamics of internal combustion engines and drivelines Provides a set of standard models and includes examples and case studies Covers turbo- and super-charging, and automotive dependability and diagnosis Accompanied by a web site hosting example models and problems and solutions Modeling and Control of Engines and Drivelines is a comprehensive reference for graduate students and the authors’ close collaboration with the automotive industry ensures that the knowledge and skills that practicing engineers need when analysing and developing new powertrain systems are also covered.

Book Electric Vehicle Design

Download or read book Electric Vehicle Design written by Krishan Arora and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2024-04-18 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ELECTRIC VEHICLE DESIGN This book will serve as a definitive guide to conceptual and practical knowledge about the design of hybrid electrical vehicles (HEV), battery electrical vehicles (BEV), fuel cell electrical vehicles (FCEV), plug-in hybrid electrical vehicles (PHEV), and efficient EV charging techniques with advanced tools and methodologies for students, engineers, and academics alike. This book deals with novel concepts related to fundamentals, design, and applications of conventional automobiles with internal combustion engines (ICEs), electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), and fuel cell vehicles (FCVs). It broadly covers vehicle performance, configuration, control strategy, design methodology, modeling, and simulation for different conventional and hybrid vehicles based on mathematical equations. Fundamental and practical examples of conventional electrical machines, advanced electrical machines, battery energy sources, on-board charging and off-board charging techniques, and optimization methods are presented here. This book can be useful for students, researchers, and practitioners interested in different problems and challenges associated with electric vehicles. Furthermore, in explaining the design methodology of each drive train, design examples are presented with simulation results.

Book Vehicle Dynamics

Download or read book Vehicle Dynamics written by Dieter Schramm and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-07-03 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors examine in detail the fundamentals and mathematical descriptions of the dynamics of automobiles. In this context, different levels of complexity are presented, starting with basic single-track models up to complex three-dimensional multi-body models. A particular focus is on the process of establishing mathematical models based on real cars and the validation of simulation results. The methods presented are explained in detail by means of selected application scenarios. In addition to some corrections, further application examples for standard driving maneuvers have been added for the present second edition. To take account of the increased use of driving simulators, both in research, and in industrial applications, a new section on the conception, implementation and application of driving simulators has been added.

Book The Simulation of Vehicle Performance in Surf

Download or read book The Simulation of Vehicle Performance in Surf written by and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study is part of an overall program on the interpretation of performance tests of amphibious vehicles in surf. By 'surf' is meant the zone near-shore wherein waves are actually breaking--that is, the zone where the analytical treatment of water waves is least tractable and, consequently, least satisfactory. By 'simulation' is meant the production of 'surf' in a tank facility and the operation of a model vehicle in this surf. The report is presented in two parts: Part One is a survey of available knowledge of surf, the implications for model simulation and a preliminary application to existing Davidson Laboratory facilities. Part Two is a presentation of results of initial experiments on model surf generation at the Davidson Laboratory.
