Download or read book Stochastic Tools in Turbulence written by John L. Lumley and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This accessible treatment offers the mathematical tools for describing and solving problems related to stochastic vector fields. Advanced undergraduates and graduate students will find its use of generalized functions a relatively simple method of resolving mathematical questions. It will prove a valuable reference for applied mathematicians and professionals in the fields of aerospace, chemical, civil, and nuclear engineering. The author, Professor Emeritus of Engineering at Cornell University, starts with a survey of probability distributions and densities and proceeds to examinations of moments, characteristic functions, and the Gaussian distribution; random functions; and random processes in more dimensions. Extensive appendixes—which include information on Fourier transforms, tensors, generalized functions, and invariant theory—contribute toward making this volume mathematically self-contained.

Download or read book Cleaner Treatment Technologies and Productions in The Energy Industry 2nd edition written by Jiang Bian and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-04-29 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: s the rapid development of the world's economy brought serious environmental problems, the economy must accelerate industrial structure adjustment and development mode transformation to achieve sustainable development. A cleaner production mode based on cleaner technology is a crucial way to solve the conflict between economic growth and environmental protection effectively. In essence, cleaner production is a kind of production mode in which the environmental strategy of overall prevention is adopted for the production process to reduce or eliminate their possible harm to human beings and the environment while fully meeting human needs and maximizing social and economic benefits. Fossil energy and renewable energy have promoted the development of many emerging industries, such as the automobile industry, aerospace technology, modern production and processing, and modern transportation industry, and preventing waste production while increasing efficiencies in the uses of energy is a crucial issue. Specific measures include: • Using clean energy and raw materials; • Adopting advanced technology and equipment; • Comprehensive utilization; • Reducing pollution from the source; • Improving utilization efficiency; • Reducing or avoiding the generation and emission of pollutants in the process of production. This Research Topic aims to report the most important and latest technological advances in cleaner treatment technologies of fossil energy (such as oil and natural gas) and renewable energy (such as hydrogen energy and geothermal energy) and serves as a platform for addressing and discussing theoretical and practical cleaner production.

Download or read book Modeling and Practice of Erosion and Sediment Transport under Change written by Mohamed Meddi and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-09-17 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Climate and anthropogenic changes impact the conditions of erosion and sediment transport in rivers. Rainfall variability and, in many places, the increase of rainfall intensity have a direct impact on rainfall erosivity. Increasing changes in demography have led to the acceleration of land cover changes in natural areas, as well as in cultivated areas, and, sometimes, in degraded areas and desertified landscapes. These anthropogenized landscapes are more sensitive to erosion. On the other hand, the increase in the number of dams in watersheds traps a great portion of sediment fluxes, which do not reach the sea in the same amount, nor at the same quality, with consequences on coastal geomorphodynamics. This book is dedicated to studies on sediment fluxes from continental areas to coastal areas, as well as observation, modeling, and impact analysis at different scales from watershed slopes to the outputs of large river basins. This book is concentrated on a number of keywords: “erosion” and “sediment transport”, “model” and “practice”, and “change”. The keywords are briefly discussed with respect to the relevant literature. The contributions in this book address observations and models based on laboratory and field data, allowing researchers to make use of such resources in practice under changing conditions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the wake of energy crisis due to rapid growth of industries, urbanization, transportation, and human habit, the efficient transfer of heat could play a vital role in energy saving. Industries, household requirements, offices, transportation are all dependent on heat exchanging equipment. Considering these, the present book has incorporated different sections related to general aspects of heat transfer phenomena, convective heat transfer mode, boiling and condensation, heat transfer to two phase flow and heat transfer augmentation by different means.
