Book excerpt: The mission of this book is to spread positive thoughts to others. I encourage each of you to do the same, so, whether you buy my book or not, try to give each person you meet a small part of yourself in a positive way. You will find that through giving, your life is more worth living. My alter ego is called Stargazer III. He says things that get your attention in ways that I might not. I use him a lot in this book. In this book you will find many varied short sayings that encourage you through wit and wisdom to enjoy life to the fullest. Some bits of advice are given in a totally serious and sometimes blunt way, while others are delivered with a humorous zing! In some places you will find poetry that delivers the point better. Aphorisms are my favorite tool to use. They are very short wise or witty sayings that leave an indelible print on your mind and memory. These are the shortest sayings that pack a mighty punch. For instance: "Don't fold just cause you're old!" "It's up to us to make it positive!" "A short fuse doesn't Give you much time to think! I have also included a few short stories that deliver an underlying point to ponder as you begin to live your life to the fullest. Frequently, I employ an unexpected twist to surprise the unsuspecting reader. Whether or not you are familiar with the Mayan Calendar and it's end in December 2012, It is my premise that we will survive it.

Book excerpt: A series of random murders, each increasing in size and scope, has the police baffled. More concerning, each crime has been committed by a law-abiding citizen, and afterward, the offender has no memory of their actions, nor are they willing to talk. A wealthy powerbroker, whose son is among the suspects, hires RDC Investigations in hopes of finding mitigating evidence and clearing his son. This puts private detectives Robert Raines, Dale Gamble, and Ashe squarely in the middle of the action, and in danger, as the crime wave continues to heat up across Chicago. Chasing down leads, it's not long before they learn of a central figure, a mysterious puppet master, working behind the scenes, pulling the strings and unleashing a surge of violence on the city. But to what end? The answer to that very question could prove fatal for Robert Raines and his team because when Simon Sez...someone must die! "Crisp, polished...a keen sense of tension keep[s] this thriller moving along at a steady, inexorable pace towards a dramatic conclusion." -- The BookLife Prize

Book How To Slay a Dragon

Download or read book How To Slay a Dragon written by Bill Allen and published by BelleBooks. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Greg Hart can't slay a dragon. He'd be lucky to win a fight against one of the smaller girls at school. His only real skill is that he can run faster than any other twelve-year-old boy in his class, a necessity, since that's who he's usually running from. Oh, it's not like he's never been the hero at the center of an adventure. It's just the kind of adventures he's been involved with have always been the made-up kind he's written about in his journal. Now the magicians of Myrth have yanked Greg into a strange new world, where the monsters he must run from are far scarier--and hungrier--than anything he's ever run from before. He tries to tell everyone there's been a mistake. Ruuan is a very large dragon, while Greg, on the other hand, is neither large nor a dragon. He's barely much of a boy. Unfortunately, such trivialities could never stop the people of Myrth from believing Greg will rescue King Peter's daughter from Ruuan. After all, Greg has been named in a prophecy, and no prophecy has ever been wrong before. Why, Greg wonders, does he have to be at the heart of the first one that is?

Book An American Love Story

Download or read book An American Love Story written by Rona Jaffe and published by Dell. This book was released on 2014-11-26 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Four smart women . . . and their foolish choice. In love with the same man. The wrong man. Women found him so easy to love. Clay Bowen had it all—charisma, good looks, and power in the glamorous world of television. Laura, the delicate dancer, gave up her dazzling career to marry him and have his child. Nina excelled at everything—except capturing her father’s complete attention. Bambi, his ruthless young “assistant,” thought she was using him. And Susan, a brilliant writer, couldn’t bear to think their twenty-year bicoastal romance was too good to be true. In her most riveting novel since The Best of Everything, Rona Jaffe weaves a compelling story of passion and obsession. Moving from the glittering capitals of the world and the epicenter of the TV and movie industries to the darkest depths of the human heart, she holds her readers captive to the very last page. Praise for An American Love Story “Jaffe comprehends the ambivalence of women in love like few other contemporary novelists.”—New Woman “Compelling . . . a novel of growth, despair, destruction and realization—a novel to read and have a daughter read.”—UPI “Savvy and sharp.”—St. Petersburg Times “Thoughtful, provocative.”—San Antonio Express-News
