Download or read book La Santa Cruzada de la Salvaci N written by El Pensador and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2012-05 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Amen, Aleluya El Pensador
Download or read book An Immigration of Theology written by Simon C. Kim and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2012-05-03 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theological reflections of Virgilio Elizondo and Gustavo Gutierrez are examples of the ecclesial fruitfulness of the second half of the twentieth century. Following the directives of Pope John XXIII and the Second Vatican Council, Elizondo and Gutierrez present the Gospel message in relevant terms to their own people by engaging the world as the Church of the poor. Inspired by this moment in Church history, while at the same time recognizing the plight of their people in their poor and marginal existence, Elizondo and Gutierrez discovered a new way of doing theology by asking a specific set of questions based on their local context. By investigating where God is present in the border crossers of the southwestern United States and the poorest of the poor in Latin America, both theologians have uncovered a hermeneutical lens in rereading Scripture and deepening our understanding of ecclesial tradition. Elizondo's mestizaje and Gutierrez's preferential option for the poor arose out of a theology of context, a theological method that takes seriously the contextual circumstances of their locale. By utilizing the common loci theologici of Scripture and tradition in conjunction with context and their own experience, Elizondo and Gutierrez illustrate through their theologies how every group must embrace their own unique theological reflection.

Download or read book Follow Me written by David Platt and published by Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.. This book was released on 2013-02-05 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2014 “Christian Retailing’s Best” award finalist! What did Jesus really mean when he said, “Follow Me”? In this new book, David Platt, author of the New York Times bestselling book, Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream, contends that multitudes of people around the world culturally think they are Christians yet biblically are not followers of Christ. Scores of men, women, and children have been told that becoming a follower of Jesus simply involves believing certain truths or saying certain words. As a result, churches today are filled with people who believe they are Christians . . . but aren’t. We want to be disciples as long as doing so does not intrude on our lifestyles, our preferences, our comforts, and even our religion. Revealing a biblical picture of what it means to truly be a Christian, Follow Me explores the gravity of what we must forsake in this world, as well as the indescribable joy and deep satisfaction to be found when we live for Christ. The call to follow Jesus is not simply an invitation to pray a prayer; it’s a summons to lose your life—and to find new life in him. This book will show you what such life actually looks like.

Download or read book Ignacio Ellacuria written by Ignacio Ellacura and published by Orbis Books. This book was released on 2013 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Essays by a modern Jesuit martyr challenge the way that theology should be done and the gospel should be lived. Ignacio Ellacur a, a Spanish Jesuit theologian, philosopher, and rector of the University of Central America in San Salvador, was one of the key intellectual authors of liberation theology. On November 16, 1989 he and other members of the Jesuit community of the university were massacred by Salvadoran army troops. This volume offers twelve important essays by Ellacur a, at last providing English-speaking readers with a comprehensive introduction to his theological thought. Traditional topics such as Christology, ecclesiology, theological method, and spirituality are interwoven with reflections on colonialism, liberation, religion and politics, the philosophy of Xavier Zubiri, and the legacy of Archbishop Oscar Romero in a volume that not only chronicles the thought of one of the most fertile minds of the last century, but challenges the way theology should be carried out for the century to come.

Download or read book Comuni n y comunidad Introducci n a la espiritualidad Cristiana AETH written by Giacomo Cassese and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2004-11-01 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book My 15 Year Journey in Africa written by Sister Mary Angelita Molina Osf and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2010-06 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, Sister Angelita tells her story of those 15 years in Nigeria. Sister Angelita did all this missionary activity while constantly begging for prayers and financial support to carry on her work. Her love of God shines through in everything that Sister Angelita accomplished. During her worst tribulations, and there were many, her constant prayer was "God is Good". Indeed, each of the stories Angelita relates in her little book radiates her dependence on Divine Providence. The chapters show how God worked through her to ease the afflictions of body, soul, and spirit of the people she loved so much. Because of her, their lives became a little more bearable. This little dynamo of a person never takes "no" for an answer. When the going gets tough, she works all the harder to accomplish her objectives. I know of no one with a more determined spirit. Sister Angelita and I have known each other for 45 years and this is my testimony to a woman of God who radiates the words of Jesus: "Live in Me as I do in you ... those who live in Me and I in them will bear much fruit." Download or read book The Option for the Poor in Christian Theology written by Daniel G. Groody and published by University of Notre Dame Pess. This book was released on 2007-04-01 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the publication of Gustavo Gutiérrez's 1973 groundbreaking work, A Theology of Liberation, much has been written on liberation theology and its central premise of the preferential option for the poor. Arguably, this has been one of the most important yet controversial theological themes of the twentieth century. As globalization creates greater gaps between the rich and the poor, and as the situation for many of the world’s poor worsens, there is an ever greater need to understand the gift and challenge of Christian faith from the context of the poor and marginalized of our society. This volume draws on the thought of leading international scholars and explores how the Christian tradition can help us understand the theological foundations for the option for the poor. The central focus of the book revolves around the question, How can one live a Christian life in a world of destitution? The contributors are concerned not only with a social, economic, or political understanding of poverty but above all with the option for the poor as a theological concept. While these essays are rooted in a solid grounding of our present “reality,” they look to the past to understand some of the central truths of Christian faith and to the future as a source of Christian hope. Following Gustavo Gutiérrez's essay on the multidimensionality of poverty, Elsa Tamez, Hugh Page, Jr., Brian Daley, and Jon Sobrino identify a central theological premise: poverty is contrary to the will of God. Drawing on scripture, the writings of the early fathers, the witness of Christian martyrs, and contemporary theological reflection, they argue that poverty represents the greatest challenge to Christian faith and discipleship. David Tracy and J. Matthew Ashley carry their reflection forward by examining the option for the poor in light of apocalyptic thought. Virgilio Elizondo, Patrick Kalilombe, María Pilar Aquino, M. Shawn Copeland, and Mary Catherine Hilkert examine the challenges of poverty with respect to culture, Africa, race, and gender. Casiano Floristán and Luis Maldonado explore the relationship between poverty, sacramentality, and popular religiosity. The final two essays by Aloysius Pieris and Michael Signer consider the option for the poor in relationship to other major world religions, particularly an Asian theology of religions and the meaning of care for the poor within Judaism.
Download or read book Popular Religion and Liberation written by Michael R. Candelaria and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 1990-07-10 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Liberation theologians either argue for the liberating character of popular religion or they vilify it as alienating and otherworldly. This book takes a comprehensive and in- depth look at the issues, questions, and problems that emerge from the debate among liberation theologians in Latin America. The heart of the book consists of a comparative analysis of two prominent theologians, Juan Carlos Scannone from Argentina, and Juan Luis Segundo from Uruguay, who take opposite positions. Scannone sees popular religion as essentially liberating because it is from the people. Segundo disparages popular religion as a mass phenomenon incapable of revolutionary change and looks forward to its demise. Candelaria synthesizes these contrary positions into a new paradigm for examining the question of popular religion and liberation. On the basis of this synthesis, he formulates a principle for articulating the relationship between popular religion and liberation and with special reference to the situation of Hispanics in the United States.
Download or read book The Liberating Mission of Jesus written by Dario Andres Lopez Rodriguez and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2012-06-14 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Liberating Mission of Jesus deals with the central message of the Gospel of Luke, provocatively arguing that the liberating mission of Jesus has two central themes: the universality of the love of God and the special love God has for the defenseless of society. Both of these pillars form the bedrock of Luke's theological vision, animate his Gospel throughout, and summarize the good news of the reign of God in subversive and radical form. This book shows how the liberating message announced by Jesus, as well as his liberating practice, is manifested throughout the Gospel and its implications for Christian life today. Through this thorough treatment, the full depth of Luke's vision of the liberating mission of Jesus is shown to be a paradigm for the personal and collective witness of believers, regardless of the social, political, cultural, or religious boundaries that try to inhibit them from giving witness to the God of life.
