Book Tratado del signo visual

Download or read book Tratado del signo visual written by Groupe M. and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Signos s mbolos marcas se ales written by Adrian Frutiger and published by Editorial Gg. This book was released on 2000-07 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first part of this book analyzes how signs are recognized in order to better understand how communicative signs are configured--through simple formal constants that make up basic signs (triangles, crosses, arrows) in successive communication. The analysis of formal aspects is also broadened to incorporate cultural and psychological parameters. In the second part, the author provides a history of the sign systems used in major cultures to fix their language in time.

Book The Visual Legacy of Alexander the Great from the Renaissance to the Age of Revolution

Download or read book The Visual Legacy of Alexander the Great from the Renaissance to the Age of Revolution written by Víctor Mínguez and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-12-01 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an analysis of the diverse facets of Alexander the Great’s image from the Renaissance era through the Baroque into the nineteenth century. Perceived as the first sovereign ruler of the world, for centuries Alexander became an exemplar for the most ambitious kings and emperors. This cultural phenomenon flourished above all in the Renaissance while extending into the nineteenth century. Early modern monarchs’ identification with Alexander associated them with ideas of kingly wisdom. Yet this admiration waned on occasions. Napoleon was Alexander of Macedonia’s most ardent critic. During the nineteenth century, the Macedonian hero was viewed as an individual who won control of the Achaemenid empire, but also underwent a progressive moral decline that converted him into a tyrant. The book will be of interest to scholars working in art history and iconography.

Book excerpt: Discover the fascinating origins and meanings of over 2,000 signs and symbols from mythology and religion to astrology and ancient tribes in this comprehensive guide. For centuries, symbols have been imperative throughout the world, signifying ideas, relationships, and objects across different cultures. Find out why a flag at half mast is a symbol of mourning, why toads have got a bad name while frogs turn into princes, and why a heart pierced by an arrow is a classic symbol of love. Delve into the meaning of each symbol and investigate how they have been interpreted in myth, religion, folklore, and art over time, with authoritative text from experts in the field and striking line drawings and photography that emphasize the visual strength and beauty of signs. Divided into six thematic sections - the cosmos, the natural world, human life, myths and religions, society and culture, and symbol systems - this guide to the secret language of signs and symbols is a must-have for those who want to understand the world around them.

Book Form and perception in visual poetry

Download or read book Form and perception in visual poetry written by Laura López-Fernández and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: FORM and PERCEPTION IN VISUAL POETRY one of the first serious monographs in English that explores what is defined as Visual Poetry. This intermediate genre has its own characteristics. It demands inclusion of a number of disciplines: philosophy, psychology, neurobiology, literature, painting and graphic design, etc. As with many an emergent area of study an interdisciplinary approach takes into account new perspectives of analysis while maintaining respect for traditional methods of approach to poetry. This work discusses the increasing techno-visual elements of poetry creation and by studying the possible mechanisms of perceptions helps the reader/researcher understand the complex artistic and cultural paradigm thus presented. Material is developed that helps the "reading" and "decoding" process stimulated by an unusual combination of elements in poetic discourse and example. There is research work on the semantics of verbal and visual images, color and form. General Gestalt Theory is employed in discussions of form, rhythm, representation, projection and interpretation. A number of poems and poets are discussed from the Anglosphere as well as Spanish language traditions of Spain and Latin America.
