Book Drug like Properties Concepts Structure Design and Methods

Download or read book Drug like Properties Concepts Structure Design and Methods written by Li Di and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2010-07-26 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of the thousands of novel compounds that a drug discovery project team invents and that bind to the therapeutic target, typically only a fraction of these have sufficient ADME/Tox properties to become a drug product. Understanding ADME/Tox is critical for all drug researchers, owing to its increasing importance in advancing high quality candidates to clinical studies and the processes of drug discovery. If the properties are weak, the candidate will have a high risk of failure or be less desirable as a drug product. This book is a tool and resource for scientists engaged in, or preparing for, the selection and optimization process. The authors describe how properties affect in vivo pharmacological activity and impact in vitro assays. Individual drug-like properties are discussed from a practical point of view, such as solubility, permeability and metabolic stability, with regard to fundamental understanding, applications of property data in drug discovery and examples of structural modifications that have achieved improved property performance. The authors also review various methods for the screening (high throughput), diagnosis (medium throughput) and in-depth (low throughput) analysis of drug properties. Serves as an essential working handbook aimed at scientists and students in medicinal chemistry Provides practical, step-by-step guidance on property fundamentals, effects, structure-property relationships, and structure modification strategies Discusses improvements in pharmacokinetics from a practical chemist's standpoint

Book Marx s Economics

Download or read book Marx s Economics written by Michio Morishima and published by CUP Archive. This book was released on 1973 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Professor Morishima concentrates on the three volumes of Das Kapital and their contributions to the major topics of traditional Marxian economics. He provides a rigorous mathematisation of the labour theory of value, the theory of exploitation, the transformation problem, the reproduction scheme, the law of relative surplus population, the falling rate of capital and the turnover of capital. After proving Marxian propositions in a rigorous way, he argues that in order to combine Marx's model with von Neumann's in a new growth theory it is necessary to abandon the labour theory of value. Professor Morishima feels that this sacrifice is well worth making, because it enables Marxian economics to be integrated with orthodox theory into a new Marx-von Neumann theory of growth, and this to make an important contribution to the development of the subject.

Book Progress in Basic and Clinical Immunology

Download or read book Progress in Basic and Clinical Immunology written by Andrzej Mackiewicz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-12-31 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress in Basic and Clinical Immunology is a result of the 14th European Immunology Meeting - EFIS 2000, held in Poznan, Poland, on 23-27 September 2000. EFIS 2000 gathered over 1400 immunologists from all over the world. It was an exceptionally memorable meeting for a number of reasons: 1) it was held in the last year of the century and the millennium, thus provoking conclusions of past achievements of immunology and projections for the future; 2) it was held in Poland, a country that is a symbol of struggle for freedom for a large number of scientists originating from the `Eastern Bloc' countries; and 3) EFIS celebrated its 25th anniversary at this occasion. This comprehensive volume contains 62 chapters grouped into 11 sections: T-cells, Immune Receptors, Antigen Presentation/Dendritic Cells, Cytokines, Immunodeficiencies, Autoimmunity, Allergy/Inflammation, Immunotherapy, Vaccines, Tumor Immunology, and Cancer Immunotherapy.

Book Physical Layer Security in Random Cellular Networks

Download or read book Physical Layer Security in Random Cellular Networks written by Hui-Ming Wang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-10-04 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book investigates key security issues in connection with the physical layer for random wireless cellular networks. It first introduces readers to the fundamentals of information theoretic security in the physical layer. By examining recently introduced security techniques for wireless point-to-point communications, the book proposes new solutions to physical layer security based on stochastic geometric frameworks for random cellular networks. It subsequently elaborates on physical-layer security in multi-tier heterogeneous networks. With the new modeled settings, the authors also verify the security performance with the impact of the full-duplex transceivers. The specific model design presented here offers a valuable point of reference for readers in related areas. In addition, the book highlights promising topics and proposes potential future research directions.

Book Biology of Skates

    Book Details:
  • Author : David A. Ebert
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2008-12-25
  • ISBN : 1402097034
  • Pages : 242 pages

Download or read book Biology of Skates written by David A. Ebert and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-12-25 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Skates have become a concern in recent years due to the preponderance of these elasmobranchs that are caught as bycatch or as a directed fishery. This has raised concern because skates have life history characteristics that may make them vulnerable to over-exploitation. It was due to this concern that prompted Drs. David Ebert and James Sulikowski to organize an international symposium on the “Biology of Skates”. The aims and goals of the symposium were to bring together an international group of researchers to meet, discuss, perhaps develop collaborations, and present their most recent findings. The symposium was held over two days, on 13-14 July, 2006, in conjunction with the 22nd annual meeting of the American Elasmobranch Society in New Orleans, LA. A total of 31 authors from four countries contributed 16 papers that appear in this volume. The papers are broadly arranged into four separate categories: systematics and biogeography, diet and feeding ecology, reproductive biology, and age and growth. This is the first dedicated book on the biology of skates. We hope that readers will find this volume of interest and that it helps encourage and stimulate future research into these fascinating fishes.
