Book Brazzleton s Adventures

Download or read book Brazzleton s Adventures written by Mary Mayers and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2002-07-17 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Brazzleton is in appearance a fictional character. Having a rooster-like tail, purple spots from his head to his toes, and a nose so very long. However, as a living Being, given life by his adventurous stories, Brazzleton takes the form of so many young children who find themselves in real life situations. He knows how it feels to be a new kid in town, and how it feels not to be accepted and understood because of his odd and very different physical appearance. Brazzleton knows how difficult it can be to make new friends and how scarey responsibility can be. In the book, 'Brazzleton's Adventures', Brazzleton learns how to accept and to overcome his fears and weaknesses. He learns to succeed by not giving up and through friendship, he learns to have confidence in himself. He learns the importance of accepting others as they are, and learns the importance of friendship. Some of his adventures are written to twist the tongues with flowing rhymes from beginning to end, while some are straight forward with simple fun stories, an eager ear to bend. The goal of each of Brazzleton's Adventure, of this you can be sure, is that there is a moral to be learned, with every last page that is turned.

Book American Prince

Download or read book American Prince written by Tony Curtis and published by Crown Archetype. This book was released on 2008-10-14 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “All my life I had one dream and that was to be in the movies.” He was the Golden Boy of the Golden Age. A prince of the silver screen. Dashing and debonair, Tony Curtis arrived on the scene in a blaze of bright lights and celluloid. His good looks, smooth charm, and natural talent earned him fame, women, and adulation—Elvis copied his look and the Beatles put him on their Sgt. Pepper album cover. But the Hollywood life of his dreams brought both invincible highs and debilitating lows. Now, in his captivating, no-holds-barred autobiography, Tony Curtis shares the agony and ecstasy of a private life in the public eye. No simple tell-all, American Prince chronicles Hollywood during its heyday. Curtis revisits his immense body of work—including the unforgettable classics Houdini, Spartacus, and Some Like It Hot—and regales readers with stories of his associations with Frank Sinatra, Laurence Olivier, director Billy Wilder, and film industry heavyweight Lew Wasserman, as well as paramours Natalie Wood and Marilyn Monroe, among others. As forthright as he is enthralling, Tony Curtis offers intimate glimpses into his succession of failed marriages (and the one that has endured), his destructive drug addiction, and his passion as a painter. Written with humor and grace, American Prince is a testament to the power of living the life of one’s dreams.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A wildly colorful, darkly comic, and ultimately sinister tale of madness and murder” from the award-winning master of Southern fiction (Library Journal). “Set in a lake community in the vicinity of Vicksburg, Miss., the story revolves around a fellow named Man Mortimer, a thief, pimp and murderer—and those are his good qualities—who physically resembles the late country singer Conway Twitty. On his trail are Byron Egan, a somewhat reformed biker-turned-preacher and prophet, and Max Raymond, a former doctor who plays saxophone in a bar band and has an attractive Cuban wife who sings, sometimes for the band, sometimes nude in her backyard. Meanwhile, the young town sheriff, distrusted since he hails from the North, manages to shock even the most degenerate denizens of the area with his affair with a luscious 72-year-old widow. The plot is kaleidoscopic, with flashes and slashes of wonder, humor and the macabre expertly mixed…Reading today's fiction is too often like eating stale bread. With Hannah, just imagine your most mouthwatering meal, take a double helping and you've come close to the pleasure of reading this book.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review) “Maddeningly brilliant…a stunning assemblage of characters: ruffians, high rollers, heartbroken lushes, prostitutes, bikers-turned-preachers, dead ringers, drug addicts, third-rate porn stars, lounge lizards…They do not so much interact as collide, like atomic particles in a cyclotron.”—The Hartford Courant “An electrifying prose style, memorable characters, plot lines laced with violence and absurdity, and humor as black as an Ace comb…an expert navigator of the back roads of the human heart.”—The Denver Post “Like moonshine whisky, [Hannah’s fiction] packs quite a wallop.”—The Wall Street Journal

Book Two American Boys in the War Zone

Download or read book Two American Boys in the War Zone written by Levi Worthington Green and published by DigiCat. This book was released on 2022-07-21 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After the Porter brothers, Sidney and Raymond, had escaped from Mexico in their flight from Mexican rebels, they proceeded as rapidly as possible to their El Paso home. There they found their father, who had succeeded, several weeks before, in reaching El Paso from Chihuahua. Mrs. Porter declared that the boys should then remain at home, at least until they had ceased to be boys. She said that her nerves were not equal to another such strain as they had endured while the boys were in the wilds of Mexico, and that she would have no more wandering in dangerous foreign lands. Her husband reminded her, however, that there seemed to be nothing in the boys' recent adventure that would justify so drastic a prohibition. The boys had successfully made a difficult journey without harm, and had proved that they were quite able to take care of themselves under unusual conditions of great danger, as he had all along maintained that they were. There was no question, though, of their going back to the Mexican mine. The entire State of Chihuahua was so unsettled by the frequent changes of the revolution that even Mr. Porter admitted it would be the wildest folly to attempt to return there. So the boys entered the El Paso High School for the rest of that year and the next, and their father gradually reconciled himself to the idea of losing his entire Mexican investments.
