Download or read book Short Stories and Questions for All Teenagers and Young Adults to Read and Enjoy written by Geoff Daniel and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-07 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My main aim here is in fact to encourage teenagers and young adults to Read, Write and Learn a wide variety of things which hopefully will help them a lot further along in life. The fi fteen ( 15 ) Short Stories are completely different, but all have a strong positive Hidden meaning in order to help those struggling a little in life, for whatever reason. But however it is also to give any student/reader ( no matter what their background is ) various concepts to really think about, and improve on, if they are lacking in one area or another. This book shows that an average person if they are willing to adopt the Three main phrases contained within this particular Shield being -: 1/ Fully Focussed 2/ Positive Thinking and 3/ Room For Improvement - That anything can become quite possible to achieve None of us are perfect, but if we are willing to try certain things, they can often fall our way and pleasantly surprise us sometimes. Most importantly however, I hope that all those who read the book get some real enjoyment and satisfaction from it, because personally I have thoroughly enjoyed writing this fi rst series of Short Stories.

By contrast, her sister Ami is an eternal champion...she even managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a slew of contests. Unfortunately for Olive, the only thing worse than constant bad luck is having to spend the wedding day with the best man (and her nemesis), Ethan Thomas. Olive braces herself for wedding hell, determined to put on a brave face, but when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. Suddenly there’s a free honeymoon up for grabs, and Olive will be damned if Ethan gets to enjoy paradise solo. Agreeing to a temporary truce, the pair head for Maui. After all, ten days of bliss is worth having to assume the role of loving newlyweds, right? But the weird thing is...Olive doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, the more she pretends to be the luckiest woman alive, the more it feels like she might be. With Christina Lauren’s “uniquely hilarious and touching voice” (Entertainment Weekly), The Unhoneymooners is a romance for anyone who has ever felt unlucky in love.

Book excerpt: "Adults squirm when the big questions come up, especially the big spiritual ones. They don't want their kids to worry, so they give answers that all say one thing: 'Don't worry. It's all okay.' "And yet the big questions still keep coming up. At every age we all need to know what life is really all about. Not just on the surface, but deep down. "Teenagers are no exception. They deserve a spiritual life all their own. One that offers the kind of comfort we hope to give our children, but is different at the same time. More full of ideas. More mature. More fitting for the whole wide future that lies ahead. "That's what I've tried to do in this book, as fully and as honestly as possible." -- Deepak Chopra

Louie’s life is great! A walk on the leash every morning, ice cream on Sundays, snuggling in bed at night with Mom and Dad. Even the playdates with Mom’s friends — despite their little crawling creatures who pull Louie’s ears — aren’t all that bad. But then things get weird: cold food on the floor, no room in the bed, and lots of new stuff coming into the house in pairs — two small beds, two little sweaters, two seats in the stroller. Does that bode double trouble ahead, or could there be a happier surprise in store for Louie? With perfect visual pacing, Tony Fucile takes a familiar story and gives it a comic spin.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In these changing times of global flows of media and technologies and reports of declining reading enjoyment, researchers, policymakers and educators need to engage anew with essential issues of what counts as reading, what kinds of reading matter and how to support teen reading engagement in school and out-of-school settings. Bringing together contributions from well-known and emerging adolescent literacy researchers from different disciplinary perspectives, this edited collection consolidates contemporary research on teens’ volitional print and digital reading, whether in school or out-of-school contexts. The first part of the book offers overviews of what teens are reading, followed by chapters on community support on reading and new ways of researching teen reading. With chapters from North America, Europe, Australia, Asia and the Middle East, the collection will offer multifaceted and complex insights into what, how and why teens read in different contexts. Reflection questions at the end of each chapter encourage readers to consider how the research can be applied in their own research, policy and practice contexts. This book will be of interest to researchers, policymakers and educators who are invested in supporting adolescent-engaged reading with evidence- based policies and strategies.
