Download or read book SHERLOCK HOLMES IN THE FULLNESS OF TIME written by Thomas Kent Miller and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2016-08-28 with total page 574 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Umberto Eco, author of The Name of the Rose and Foucault's Pendulum, said: It's only publishers and some journalists who believe that people want simple things. People are tired of simple things. They want to be challenged. SEE THE GREAT DETECTIVE MATCH WITS WITH THE SON OF GOD ON THE ROOF OF THE WORLD. SEE HIS COVER BLOWN BY THE MOTHER OF GOD AT THE CRUCIBLE OF LIFE. SEE HIM SOLVE THE MYSTERY OF GOD AT THE DAWN OF TIME. With this trilogy, Thomas Kent Miller is for the first time publishing in one volume the wide variety of millennia- and centuries-old lost manuscripts that he has serendipitously unearthed over 30 years. These writings are all linked by their featuring characters introduced by H. Rider Haggard, prime mover of the lost race literary genre, over the course of sixteen books written from 1885 through 1927 and, to a lesser extent, indeed, only referenced obliquely, The Great Detective, over three decades!

Book Sherlock Holmes and the Law

Download or read book Sherlock Holmes and the Law written by Henrik Fibæk Jensen and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2024-04-22 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When a person has solved an enigmatic mystery by creating a connection between a series of seemengly unrelated and inexplicable events, we often say admiringly: "Well I must say you are a real Sherlock Holmes!"The name alone has become synonymous with brilliant acumen. The private detective Sherlock Holmes was created by the English author Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930), who from 1887 to 1927 wrote 4 novels and 56 short stories about him, collectively known as the Conan. Of these, "The Hound of the Baskervilles" is the most famous, and it has time and again been named the world's best crime novel, just as Holmes has been hailed as the world's greatest detective. "Sherlock Holmes and the Law" is about the relationship between crime and punishment. The whole of the Conan is reviewed with this issue in mind. When Holmes has uncovered a culprit, he as a general rule hands him over to the police. Sometimes, however, he makes an exception, in that he either punishes the guilty himself or lets him escape further prosecution. Ultimately, he puts his own sense of justice above English law, and he does so based on his inner moral compass. To find out about, describe and understand this compass is the task and goal of this book. In addition, "Sherlock Holmes and the Law" also contains a section on Arthur Conan Doyle's life, an overview of the Conan, a description of Holmes and Watson's personalities and friendship, an introduction to Holmes' working method and his relationship with the police. Henrik Fibæk Jensen (born 1954). A Danish writer. Master of Arts in Danish, history and philosophy from Aarhus University. He has written books about the authors Johannes Buchholtz, Jeppe Aakjær, Søren Kierkegaard and Hans Peter Kofoed-Hansen, the private detective Sherlock Holmes, the robber Jens Langkniv (a Danish Robin Hood-figure), and the serial killer John Christie. In addition magazine articles about Hans Scherfig, N.F.S. Grundtvig, Jack the Ripper, Emil Boesen and local history subjects from the Skive region in Jutland, Denmark.

Book Sherlock Holmes and the Needle s Eye

Download or read book Sherlock Holmes and the Needle s Eye written by Len Bailey and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2013-05-06 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Embark on a journey through the Old and New Testament with Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson as they explore exotic and spice-laden places in search of clues. The detective and the doctor travel back in time with the help of a Moriarty-designed time machine to investigate ten Bible destinations, unlocking clues to ten Bible mysteries. The most fascinating crime cases are those that are already solved, those that have been investigated by the police and brought to a swift, satisfying, and almost inevitable conclusion. So it is with Bible stories which the reader may consider familiar and unremarkable. But under close scrutiny these stories give up their hidden clues, their long kept secrets. Like a jewel newly polished, they sparkle and shine with a fresh, introspective light. While traveling back in time to witness certain scenes, Holmes and Watson unravel ten different Biblical mysteries, including the following: · The Hanging Tree: Why did Ahithophel hang himself? · Righteous Blood is Red: Is Zechariah the son of Berekiah or Jehoiada in Matthew 23? · You Miss, You Die: Why did David take five stones against Goliath? · Dead Man Walking: Why did Jesus delay in coming to Lazarus in John 11?

Book excerpt: An instant classic, Modern Paladin (a holy warrior for todays world) combines the best of Bible commentary and church-leader discipleship. This work is as comprehensive and detailed as any program for leadership development could be. It begins with the discovery that the ancient city of Ephesus is the only church location to receive both an epistle from Paul and a letter in Revelations. This city and church are proven to be perfect representatives of the modern church and a line-by-line analysis of Ephesians uncovers over a hundred bullet-point lessons for modern church leaders. This in-depth commentary then evolves into an actual system, the modern paladin system, wherein a reader can analyze themselves, their small groups, and even whole churches, with an eye toward the biblical lessons of leadership. Absolutely required reading for any church leader that wants to improve or any scholar or student that wants to know more about Ephesians or what the Bible has to say about leadership. Dive in and discover how you can strengthen yourself, your small groups, and your church, striving through the Word of God to become a modern paladin!
