Book She Yelled I Screamed She Pulled My Hair

Download or read book She Yelled I Screamed She Pulled My Hair written by Tracy Leshay and published by Again Again Books. This book was released on 2015-02-10 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is author/photographer Tracy Leshay's debut book about sharing. Written in rhyme, we hear Phoebe tell her humorous taking-turns-tale of woe. Determined to get along with her little sister Audrey, Phoebe follows the advice of a helpful fairy. It is a mean-hot summer though, and temperatures and tempers are running high. Phoebe will need more than a day to make Audrey share. Time will pass - seasons will change, and until Phoebe and Audrey do magically share, SHE YELLED. I SCREAMED...SHE PULLED MY HAIR! In the end, this universal story gets to the heart of how one learns to share. If you want a turn with the teapot, the car, or the bike, persistence, politeness, and patience will be key. A print series of Tracy Leshay's daughter's hair inspired this modern-day fairy tale. Leshay's words provide a learning to share tool, but her 35mm pictures create a unique art-book experience. Phoebe and Audrey resemble your friends - real with real issues - ones that every child experiences. The visuals make the story enjoyable to eyes of all ages, while the topic and the telling make it just perfect for those ages 3-8.

Forced to become street smart after being a ward of the courts for eight years, Alex thought things could not get any worse. Not surprisingly, they did. After trusting someone that she thought had her best interests at heart, she soon finds herself married and pregnant at the age of fifteen, and now a domestic violence victim. Determined not to let her present dictate her future, she began to reach out to God, with writing as her key to all her misery. With faith and strong determination, she changed her life path from being an abused child sexually and physically. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents." The classic American horror author H. P. Lovecraft coined the term weird fiction in the 1920s. Even today, in our rational world of wonder, his legacy of cosmic horror slumbers on. Deep in the recesses of our unconscious minds, we suspect its truth - that as we puzzle out the shape of true reality, we'll find it is not to our liking. Not one bit. Modern science, with its experts and specialties, is a fragmentary thing. In this, it reflects the human mind. We keep our thoughts in boxes, broken into digestible shards. It is safer. Cosmic horror warns us that what we fondly imagine to be reality is just a thin skin of light and substance over endless gulfs of insanity. Gather too much knowledge, make the wrong connections, and the truth can no longer be denied. The amazing tales lovingly collected in Cthulhu Lies Dreaming are fragments of that truth. Treat them with the caution that they deserve. Each will offer you glimpses behind the skin of the world, leading you closer and closer to the edge of the abyss. Knowledge may bring wisdom, but it also offers far darker gifts to the curious. The truth is indeed out there, and it hungers. Book The Shamanic Themes in Armenian Folktales

Download or read book The Shamanic Themes in Armenian Folktales written by Michael Berman and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2009-03-26 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “In Marxist anthropological theory, shamanism represented one of the early forms of religion that later gave rise to more sophisticated beliefs in the course of human advancement … The premise of Marxism was that eventually, at the highest levels of civilization, the sacred and religion would eventually die out” (Znamenski, 2007, p.322). Though history has of course since disproved this, the theory clearly had a great bearing on what was written in the former Soviet Union about shamanism, and also on people’s attitudes in the former Soviet Republics towards such practices. On the other hand, it has been suggested that “all intellectuals driven by nationalist sentiments directly or indirectly are always preoccupied with searching for the most ancient roots of their budding nations in order to ground their compatriots in particular soil and to make them more indigenous” (Znamenski, 2007, p.28). Although this might apply to searching for the roots of Christianity in Armenia, when it comes to searching for the roots of pagan practices, interest on the part of the people of Armenia is generally speaking not so forthcoming. This impasse, coupled with the effects of the repressions against religions, including shamanism, unleashed by the Soviet government between the 1930s and 1950s, along with the recent surge of interest in the Armenian Orthodox church, a backlash to the seventy years of officially sanctioned atheism, makes research into the subject no easy business. However, hopefully this study will at least in some small way help to set the process in motion.
