Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can you imagine going to a music performance tonight, (any type will do) and the musicians are not playing together? Each of them is engaged in their own musical performance while wearing sound canceling headphones. They are each playing every note perfectly using their own tempo and volume - but they're not in sync with any of the other musicians. Does this sound like something you would want to spend your evening listening to? Unfortunately, this same situation occurs in many workplaces. Every day companies fail to compete in the market and grow because of a poor Project Portfolio Management culture. Culture Is The Bass: 7 Principles For Developing A Culture That Works, walks you through how organizations can achieve balance, harmony and a unified vision. Culture is the Bass helps organizations create a true competitive advantage that delivers a standard of excellence in strategy implementation and execution that consistently produces and exceeds stakeholder expectations. Creating a culture that works is a multi-step process. These seven principles provides an insightful and unique way of combining the author's experience and expertise as a professional musician and certified Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP). This book reveals: -How companies can perform like a World Class Orchestra and receive a standing ovation from their employees and customers. -How to create a shared vision for your team. -An 8 step process for implementing change and creating buy-In. -A 9 step process for developing stories that will touch your staff's heart, head, and hands. "Love the analogy/metaphor of music being compared to business. There are lots of similarities, as you show us. As a musician myself, I've often thought about how the two are similar - and how interesting it would be to create a speech, or in your case a book, around the topic." Shep Hyken - Customer Service Expert, Keynote Speaker & New York Times and Wall Street Journal Best-Selling Author of Amaze Every Customer Every Time and The Amazement Revolution "I've had the privilege of hearing Gerald Leonard speak half a dozen times, and his ideas are insightful, actionable, and energizing. I think the analogy with music works very well in this new book, and it adds a new perspective to looking at PPM." Mitzi Perdue - Author of TOUGH MAN, TENDER CHICKEN, Business and Life Lessons from Frank Perdue "Gerald, I enjoyed reading the metaphor of how a great culture is like an orchestra. You can't make beautiful music and enjoy harmony without a commitment from all to play their part. You must have the right leadership, and the right players, playing to their strengths." Shirley Davis, Ph.D., CSP, SPHR, SHRM-SCP President of SDS Global Enterprises, Inc.; Business Executive; Workforce Management Expert, Author of Reinvent Yourself: Strategies for Achieving Success in Every Area of Your Life

Book Travels in Beloochistan and Sinde

Download or read book Travels in Beloochistan and Sinde written by Sir Henry Pottinger and published by . This book was released on 1816 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Travels in Beloochistan and Sinde is a first-hand account of a journey taken in 1810-11 through parts of present-day India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, and Iraq. The author, Henry Pottinger (1789-1856), was a lieutenant in the East India Company who, along with a friend and fellow officer, Captain Charles Christie, volunteered to undertake a mission to the region between India and Persia (present-day Iran), about which the East India Company at that time had little knowledge. The two men journeyed from Bombay (present-day Mumbai) to Sind (present-day southeast Pakistan) from where, disguised as Indians, they traveled overland to Kalat. They were quickly recognized as Europeans, but they were able to continue their journey to Nushki, near the present-day border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. There the men separated. Pottinger continued westward to Persia, through Kerman to Shiraz and Isfahan. Christie traveled north from Nushki into Afghanistan, through Helmand to Herat and from there into Persia to Yazd and Isfahan, where he rejoined Pottinger. Christie was directed to remain in Persia, where in 1812 he was killed in a Russian attack. Pottinger returned to Bombay via Baghdad and Basra. The book is in two parts. The first is a detailed account of Pottinger's journey, with observations on climate, terrain, soil, plants and animals, peoples and tribes, customs, religion, and popular beliefs. The second is an introduction to the history and geography of the provinces of Baluchistan and Sind. An appendix reproduces part of the journal kept by Christie on his travels through Afghanistan. The book contains one colored illustration at the front and a large fold-out map after the end of the text. Pottinger went on to have a distinguished career with the East India Company and the British government. In April 1843 he was appointed the first British governor of Hong Kong.

Book Lectures on the Origin and Growth of Religion as Illustrated by the Religion of the Ancient Babylonians

Download or read book Lectures on the Origin and Growth of Religion as Illustrated by the Religion of the Ancient Babylonians written by Archibald Henry Sayce and published by . This book was released on 1888 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Lectures on the Origin and Growth of Religion: As Illustrated by the Religion of the Ancient Babylonians A word of apology is needed for the numerous repetitions in the following chapters, which are due to the fact that the chapters were written and delivered in the form of Lectures. I cannot guarantee the exactness of every word in the trans lations of the cuneiform texts given in them. The meaning of individual words may at times be more precisely defined by the discovery of fuller materials, even where it has been supposed that their signification has been fixed with certainty. The same fate has befallen the interpretation of the Hebrew Scriptures, and is still more likely to befall a progressive study like Assyrian.
