Book Bulgari Serpenti Il potere delle metamorfosi The power of metamorphosis Ediz illustrata

Download or read book Bulgari Serpenti Il potere delle metamorfosi The power of metamorphosis Ediz illustrata written by Alba Cappellieri and published by Silvana Editoriale. This book was released on 2021 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metamorphosis is a central theme of contemporary creativity, investigated by artists, stylists, designers, philosophers and craftsmen who have crossed the rigid fences of their respective disciplines in search of their changing inclusiveness. With a pioneering spirit, Bulgari also explores them in their different meanings: symbolic, creative and artistic. The protagonist of the narration is the snake, an emblem of regeneration in all cultures and an icon of the goldsmith mastery of the Rome maison from the 1940s to today.0In symbolic metamorphoses, the reptile embodies the archetype of transformation and renewal that refers to the dualism of life, while in the creative ones its seductive spell has deeply inspired material culture, from ancient clothing to contemporary fashion, from primitive jewelry to the Bulgari collections which celebrate it as a symbol, myth, creative theme, and personal ornament.0Lastly, on the artistic side, Bulgari asked five artists to represent their own idea of ??metamorphosis: Refik Anadol, Ann Veronica Janssens, Azuma Makoto, Daan Roosegaard, and Vincent Van Duysen have thus interpreted them through the poetics of their respective artistic languages, with surprising, heterogeneous and powerful results, further proof of their being the most revolutionary and profound act in the life of a person, a society or a culture. 00Exhibition: Galleria d'Arte Moderna, Milan, Italy (04.-10.092.2021).

  • Pages : 120 pages

Download or read book Bulgari written by Marion Fasel and published by Editions Assouline. This book was released on 2013 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the 1940s, with the creation of bracelet-watches in the form of a snake, the serpent has been one of Bulgari's most emblematic and eternal symbols. Representing everything from birth, rebirth, beauty, sex appeal, and wisdom in Greek mythology and Roman civilization, the snake motif also alludes to founder Sotirio Bulgari's Greek heritage and adopted home of Rome. This new tome explores the Serpenti collection's rich heritage, distinguished elegance, and status as one of the Roman jewelry house's contemporary icons. Featuring imagery of Elizabeth Taylor, who famously sported a serpent-shaped watch while filming Cleopatra in 1962; Marisa Berenson; and Diana Vreeland, who, in one of her legendary Vogue memos, declared her fascination for the snake motif, this oversize book speaks to the timelessness, sensuality, and beauty of Bulgari's Serpenti collection.

Book Technological Choices

Download or read book Technological Choices written by Pierre Lemonnier and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-10-15 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Technological Choices applies the critical tools of archaeology to the subject of technology and its impact on humankind throughout the ages. An examination of the challenges technological innovations present to various cultures, Technological Choices asserts that in any society, such choices are made on the basis of cultural values and social relations, rather than on the inherent benefits in technology itself. Of course, this revolutionary viewpoint has critical implications for contemporary Western societies. Based on case studies covering a wide range of chronologies and geographies, Technological Choices moves rapidly from Neolithic Europe to the modern industrial age, stopping on the way to examine the tribes of Papua, New Guinea, rural Indian and North African societies as well as several European peasant communities. The techniques studied range from the manufacture of stone implements to the development of high-tech transportation devices. With its breadth of subject matter and multidisciplinary approach, Technological Choices offers new insight into the interrelationship between technology and society. Also unprecedented is the book's emphasis on the functional aspects of material culture.

Book excerpt: A thrilling sequel from an exciting new voice in middle-grade sci-fi tracks two ocean-born children braving the dangers of the Above World. The desert is no place for ocean-dwelling Kampii like Aluna and Hoku, especially now that Aluna has secretly started growing her tail. But the maniacal Karl Strand is out to conquer the Above World, and the horselike Equians are next on his list. Aluna, Hoku, and their friends — winged Calli and Equian exile Dash — race to the desert city of Mirage, intent on warning the Equians. When they arrive, Strand’s clone, Scorch, has gotten there first. Now the Equian leader has vowed to take all his people to war as part of Strand’s army. Any herd that refuses to join him by the time of the desert-wide competition known as the Thunder Trials will be destroyed. To have any chance of defeating Scorch and convincing the Equians to switch sides, the four friends must find a way to win the Trials. The challenge seems impossible. But if they fail, the desert — and possibly all of the Above World — will be lost to Karl Strand forever. Here is the action-packed follow-up to Above World, which Kirkus Reviews called “a thrilling sci-fi adventure. Imaginative and riveting.”

Book Costruirono i primi templi

Download or read book Costruirono i primi templi written by Klaus Schmidt and published by Oltre edizioni. This book was released on 2012-01-03 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
