Download or read book Television Drama in the Age of Streaming written by Vilde Schanke Sundet and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-02 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines television drama in the age of streaming—a time when television has been reshaped for national and international consumption via both linear ‘flow’ and on-demand user modes. It builds on an in-depth study of the Norwegian public service broadcaster (NRK) and some of its game-changing drama productions (Lilyhammer, SKAM, blank). The book portrays the formative first decade of television streaming (2010-2019), how new streaming services and incumbent television providers intersect and act in a new drama landscape, and how streaming impacts existing television production cultures, publishing models and industry-audience relations. The analysis draws on insight gained through more than a hundred interviews with television experts and fans, hundreds of hours of observations, and unique access to industry conferences, meetings, working documents, and ratings. The book combines perspectives from production studies, media industry studies, and fan studies to inform its analysis.
Download or read book Serializing Age written by Maricel Oró-Piqueras and published by transcript Verlag. This book was released on 2015-12-31 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Serialized storytelling provides intriguing opportunities for critical representations of age and aging. In contrast to the finite character of films, television narratives can unfold across hundreds of episodes and multiple seasons. Contemporary viewing practices and new media technologies have resulted in complex television narratives, in which experimental temporalities and revisions of narrative linearity and chronological time have become key features. As the first of its kind, this volume investigates how TV series as a powerful cultural medium shape representations of age and aging, such as in »Orange Is The New Black«, »The Wire« or »Desperate Housewives«, to understand what it means to live in time.

Download or read book Serial Electrocardiograms written by William R. Harlan and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The reliability and prognostic validity of serial electrocardiograms were determined in a group of young men who were followed from 24 to 49 years of age. Electrocardiographic durations, amplitudes, and vectoral orientations at each of the four evaluations were similar to values from cross-sectional surveys of men at the same ages. The pattern of QRS deflections did not change although there were changes in the amplitude of these deflections. A significant decrease in QRS and T amplitude (Sigma QRS and Sigma T) was found with increasing aging and did not correlate significantly with weight and blood pressure. The QRS axis moved leftward as the group became older and the change in QRS axis was related to interval weight changes and to blood pressure. The T axis and the QRS-T angle did not change during the 24 years of study. The group in whom coronary heart disease subsequently developed had a greater decrease in QRS amplitude and tended to have a greater leftward movement of the QRS vector. The resting electrocardiogram is a reliable measurement despite minor serial changes in amplitude and vectoral orientation, but has limited predictive value in men below the age of 50 years.
