La literatura científica ha logrado presentar que el sentido del trabajo está vinculado a un mayor bienestar personal y significado en la vida, más satisfacción en el trabajo, mayor engagement y compromiso laboral, participación social positiva y mejor desempeño. En la presente investigación se pretende auscultar si el sentido del trabajo tiene efectos significativos en la relación entre la afinidad persona-organización, la afinidad persona-puesto y la intención de abandono en una muestra (N=397) de empleados y voluntarios de organizaciones sin fines de lucro en Puerto Rico. Se puso a prueba un modelo de mediación para explorar el posible rol mediador del sentido del trabajo con las otras variables bajo estudio. Los resultados demostraron que el sentido del trabajo es un elemento mediador en la relación entre la afinidad persona-organización y la afinidad persona-puesto con la intención de abandono. Se concluye el estudio con las aportaciones prácticas y teóricas del tema.
