Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Melissa was growing up, she valued her family, until things abruptly changed. She lost her father, and her cousin became a consistent part of her life (against her will, might I add). Now, several years later, she learns from her unbelievably attractive professor, Mr. Lorenzo Angelo, that her deceased father left a mess for her to clean up. Unfortunately, this mess, so to speak, puts her family in the line of fire, as Mr. Angelo knows just who to target to get what he wants. Melissa realizes soon that she is in way over her head. Thus, in her desperation to survive and fear of losing the family she has left, she concocts a rather seductive plan that results in a battle of wits, gunfire, and exposure to secrets that her mother kept from her since she was a little girl. Confident Sensuality is a novel of rediscovery, unexpected love, and self-confidence.

Download or read book Sense and Sensuality written by Ravi Zacharias and published by Multnomah. This book was released on 2010-01-05 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: WHY versus WHY NOT? Why did God place us in a world full of pleasures if we aren’t meant to pursue them all? In an imaginative dialogue, Oscar Wilde asks Jesus Christ to respond to this question about critical lifestyle choices. Their talk vividly illustrates the arguments for both sensual pleasure-seeking and moral moderation. Playwright, dramatist, poet, critic—Wilde openly defied the mores of Victorian society. His literary repartee fueled an “if it feels good, do it” humanistic philosophy that is still prevalent in the world today. SO WHAT does JESUS SAY?

Download or read book Sensual Excess written by Amber Jamilla Musser and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2018-11-06 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reimagines black and brown sensuality to develop new modes of knowledge production In Sensual Excess, Amber Jamilla Musser imagines epistemologies of sensuality that emerge from fleshiness. To do so, she works against the framing of black and brown bodies as sexualized, objectified, and abject, and offers multiple ways of thinking with and through sensation and aesthetics. Each chapter draws our attention to particular aspects of pornotropic capture that black and brown bodies must always negotiate. Though these technologies differ according to the nature of their encounters with white supremacy, together they add to our understanding of the ways that structures of domination produce violence and work to contain bodies and pleasures within certain legible parameters. To do so, Sensual Excess analyzes moments of brown jouissance that exceed these constraints. These ruptures illuminate multiple epistemologies of selfhood and sensuality that offer frameworks for minoritarian knowledge production which is designed to enable one to sit with uncertainty. Through examinations of installations and performances like Judy Chicago’s The Dinner Party, Kara Walker’s A Subtlety, Patty Chang’s In Love and Nao Bustamante’s Neapolitan, Musser unpacks the relationships between racialized sexuality and consumption to interrogate foundational concepts in psychoanalytic theory, critical race studies, feminism, and queer theory. In so doing, Sensual Excess offers a project of knowledge production focused not on mastery, but on sensing and imagining otherwise, whatever and wherever that might be.

It highlights visual art and the written word as media for representing human desire's relationship with the dream-state, make-believe, and symbolism. The title of the book is inspired by The Yellow Book, the periodical published in the 1890s and initially art directed by Aubrey Beardsley. While the color yellow represented the daringly salacious in the 1890s, today the color purple is synonymous with opulence and sensuality.

Book excerpt: Placed in a historical context, sexuality was once so prominent in psychoanalytic writing that sexual drive and psychoanalysis were synonymous. The exciting discovery of childhood sexuality filled the literature. Then other discoveries came to the fore until sexuality slipped far in the background. This book evokes the excitement of the original discoveries of childhood sexual experience while linking childhood sensuality and sexuality to adult attachment, romantic, and lustful love. This revised perspective offers the general reader insight into contemporary psychoanalytic thought, and presents clinicians with a perspective for exploring their patients sensuality and sexuality with renewed interest and knowledge.
