Download or read book Advances in Algebra and Analysis written by V. Madhu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-01-23 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is the first of two containing selected papers from the International Conference on Advances in Mathematical Sciences, Vellore, India, December 2017 - Volume I. This meeting brought together researchers from around the world to share their work, with the aim of promoting collaboration as a means of solving various problems in modern science and engineering. The authors of each chapter present a research problem, techniques suitable for solving it, and a discussion of the results obtained. These volumes will be of interest to both theoretical- and application-oriented individuals in academia and industry. Papers in Volume I are dedicated to active and open areas of research in algebra, analysis, operations research, and statistics, and those of Volume II consider differential equations, fluid mechanics, and graph theory.

Download or read book Extended Abstracts Spring 2015 written by Dolors Herbera and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2016-11-30 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book includes 33 expanded abstracts of selected talks given at the two workshops "Homological Bonds Between Commutative Algebra and Representation Theory" and "Brave New Algebra: Opening Perspectives," and the conference "Opening Perspectives in Algebra, Representations, and Topology," held at the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (CRM) in Barcelona between January and June 2015. These activities were part of the one-semester intensive research program "Interactions Between Representation Theory, Algebraic Topology and Commutative Algebra (IRTATCA)." Most of the abstracts present preliminary versions of not-yet published results and cover a large number of topics (including commutative and non commutative algebra, algebraic topology, singularity theory, triangulated categories, representation theory) overlapping with homological methods. This comprehensive book is a valuable resource for the community of researchers interested in homological algebra in a broad sense, and those curious to learn the latest developments in the area. It appeals to established researchers as well as PhD and postdoctoral students who want to learn more about the latest advances in these highly active fields of research.
Download or read book Ischia Group Theory 2010 written by Mariagrazia Bianchi and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2012 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers in this volume represent the proceedings of the Conference entitled "Ischia Group Theory 2010," which took place at NH Ischia Thermal SPA Resort, Ischia, Naples, Italy, from April 14 to April 17, 2010. The articles in this volume are contributions by speakers and participants of the Conference. The volume contains a collection of research articles by leading experts in group theory and some accessible surveys of recent research in the area. Together they provide an overview of the diversity of themes and applications that interest group theorists today. Topics covered in this volume include: finite p-groups, character and representation theory, combinatorial group theory, varieties of groups, profinite and pro-p-groups, linear groups, graphs connected with groups, subgroup structure, finiteness conditions, radical rings, conjugacy classes, automorphisms.
Download or read book Commutative Ring Theory written by Paul-Jean Cahen and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-06-14 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents the proceedings of the Second International Conference on Commutative Ring Theory in Fes, Morocco. The text details developments in commutative algebra, highlighting the theory of rings and ideals. It explores commutative algebra's connections with and applications to topological algebra and algebraic geometry.
Download or read book Representation Theory of Finite Groups and Related Topics written by Irving Reiner and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1971 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This symposium, on Representation Theory of Finite Groups and Related Topics, was held in conjunction with a sectional meeting of the American Mathematical Society, and in honor of professor Richard Brauer. Dr. Brauer's fundamental work in representation theory is at the heart of many further developments in the topic. These proceedings contain the articles of participants, based on their symposium presentations, and indicate the scope of current research in representation theory.
Download or read book Semi algebraic Function Rings and Reflectors of Partially Ordered Rings written by Niels Schwartz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-13 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book lays algebraic foundations for real geometry through a systematic investigation of partially ordered rings of semi-algebraic functions. Real spectra serve as primary geometric objects, the maps between them are determined by rings of functions associated with the spectra. The many different possible choices for these rings of functions are studied via reflections of partially ordered rings. Readers should feel comfortable using basic algebraic and categorical concepts. As motivational background some familiarity with real geometry will be helpful. The book aims at researchers and graduate students with an interest in real algebra and geometry, ordered algebraic structures, topology and rings of continuous functions.
Download or read book Cohen Macaulay Representations written by Graham J. Leuschke and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2012-05-02 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a comprehensive treatment of the representation theory of maximal Cohen-Macaulay (MCM) modules over local rings. This topic is at the intersection of commutative algebra, singularity theory, and representations of groups and algebras. Two introductory chapters treat the Krull-Remak-Schmidt Theorem on uniqueness of direct-sum decompositions and its failure for modules over local rings. Chapters 3-10 study the central problem of classifying the rings with only finitely many indecomposable MCM modules up to isomorphism, i.e., rings of finite CM type. The fundamental material--ADE/simple singularities, the double branched cover, Auslander-Reiten theory, and the Brauer-Thrall conjectures--is covered clearly and completely. Much of the content has never before appeared in book form. Examples include the representation theory of Artinian pairs and Burban-Drozd's related construction in dimension two, an introduction to the McKay correspondence from the point of view of maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules, Auslander-Buchweitz's MCM approximation theory, and a careful treatment of nonzero characteristic. The remaining seven chapters present results on bounded and countable CM type and on the representation theory of totally reflexive modules.
