Book Ion Exchange Resins and Adsorbents in Chemical Processing

Download or read book Ion Exchange Resins and Adsorbents in Chemical Processing written by Emmanuel J. Zaganiaris and published by BOD GmbH DE. This book was released on 2013-09-06 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses various examples on the use of ion exchange in chemical processing, mainly in aqueous systems but also in non-aqueous systems and in gas streams. The theory behind these examples is briefly discussed in order to make the subjects better understood. The focus is on ion exchange rather than on chemical processing, it is therefore addressed to all those working in chemical processing industries or in parallel industries for whom ion exchange is not their primary field of experience.

Book HDBK OF ION EXCHANGE RESINS

Download or read book HDBK OF ION EXCHANGE RESINS written by Johann Korkisch and published by Springer. This book was released on 1988-12-31 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The six-volume CRC Handbook of Ion Exchange Resins reviews the application of ion exchange resins to inorganic analytical chemistry. Extracted from over 6,000 original publications, it presents the information in over 1,000 tables complemented by concise descriptions of analytical methods involving virtually all the elements of the periodic table. Also, the ion exchange characteristics of the elements, as well as other important information required by analysis using ion exchange resins, are presented in separate tables. The methods that allow the multi-element analysis of complex matrices are emphasized. This work includes a general discussion of the theoretical, instrumental, and other principles underlying the various applications of ion exchange resins in inorganic analytical chemistry with special attention focused on techniques based on ion chromatography.

Book Selective Ion Exchange Media

Download or read book Selective Ion Exchange Media written by and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This invention relates to ion exchange resins of the type exhibiting selectivity towards certain metal ions over others present in the same solution, and a method of using the resins for the extraction of nickel and copper. The resins provide a method of extracting nickel and/or copper from aqueous solutions as well as certain complex ions of the PGM group. Further features of the invention are stripping using ammonia or acid solutions and where both Ni and Cu are present separating them by precipitating the Cu out of the NH3 solution with SO2. Dry co-extracted iron on the resin can be removed by an acid strip. By varying stripping procedures Cu and Ni may be selectively removed from the resin. The functional groups of the resin are one of the formulae ACN-R-CNB-Z where A + B independently of each other represent groups forming, together with the attached carbon and nitrogen atoms, a substituted five of six membered heterocyclic ring which may embody a further hetero atom and where at least one of such heterocyclic rings is an aromatic ring. R may be absent or may represent a substituted alkyl radial and Z represents a resin to which the functional groups are attached. The heterocyclic rings may be pyridyl, imidazolyl or imidazoline groups either pyridyl and imidazolyl or pyridyl and imidazoline. The heterocyclic rings may be substituted by one or more of the groups methyl, chloro, bromo or methoxy. The resin itself is a styrene matrix cross linked with divinyl benzene. The resin has a high selectivity for Cu over Fe3, Cu over nickel and nickel over cobalt.
