People want to believe they know what is best for themselves and for others. So, how would you become wise? If you could be guaranteed that you could possess wisdom, would you do what it takes? What if gaining wisdom is easier than you think to obtain? The Bible is full of examples of those that were wise and had wisdom. In fact, most of those mentioned with having wisdom and being wise were the same individuals that spoke to God and prophesied about a Messiah. Those that seek Jesus can ask for and are given wisdom from God. It is that simple. But beyond having wisdom, you can find your purpose, leave a legacy that matters, and have an eternal destiny in Heaven. It’s a win, win, win!!!

Author Chess Britt shares a delightful personal collection of down-to-earth maxims with one clear agenda: to inspire us to search for truth and wisdom. If we actively seek wisdom, says Britt, we're bound to live our happiest and most productive lives. The best part is that we don't have to look far. Britt believes in us and in our ability to carry out the search, and his encouraging words and (often humorous) stories contain an uplifting message about recognizing, embracing, and valuing those searches. The maxims with titles like ''Live to Love and Love to Live'' and ''It's Going to Be Okay'' explore topics such as making the most of our time with other people, why anger is our enemy, the importance of patience, and even why we shouldn't waste precious time lying in bed when there are things to be done guide with a gentle hand. Britt's suggestions are offered without judgment and have something to say to people of all ages, from all walks of life. If after reading the maxims, we want to alter our present course, the author offers questions to ponder on how to move forward. Book Wise Men Still Seek Him Pack Of 25

Download or read book Wise Men Still Seek Him Pack Of 25 written by Clyde H. Dennis and published by . This book was released on 2005-10-01 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shepherds gathered their flowing robes to hurry to Him; the Magi braved deserts and mountains to find Him; in the blazing noonday sun a defeated Samaritan woman came to Him; a skeptic exclaimed, "my Lord and my God" when he found Him. And today millions on every continent acknowledge with the Apostle Paul that He is "the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me" (Galatians 2:20). Wise men still seek Him; and those who seek find more than they ever imagined. For in Jesus Christ, and Him alone, are to be found forgiveness, inward peace, joys in life today, the promises of life eternal. The Magi found Him as a young child with Mary His mother. We find Him today as the living Christ, clothed with glory and honor and seated at the right hand of His Father in heaven. He is there because He finished the work He came to do on earth. Of His coming the Bible says, "He was made in the likeness of men: and... He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him... that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow... and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord" (Philippians 2:7-11). While it is true that wise men still seek Him, it is more wonderfully true that He still seeks us-whoever we may be. Now, today, from His place in the heavenlies comes His divine invitation: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him and he with Me" (Revelation 3:20). If the President sent you an official invitation, you would surely accept. The Babe of Bethlehem who is now the Christ of Glory is inviting you today. The door is the door of your heart. May you know what it is to respond; and may all His spiritual blessings be yours this Christmas.

Be Wise guides us through Paul's first letter to the Corinthians, where he encourages his fellow believers to embrace a life of wisdom and truth. Part of Dr. Warren W. Wiersbe's best-selling "BE" commentary series, Be Wise has now been updated with study questions and a new introduction by Ken Baugh. A respected pastor and Bible teacher, Dr. Wiersbe shares a wealth of insights on living wisely.

Book The Words of the Wise Are like Goads

Download or read book The Words of the Wise Are like Goads written by Mark J. Boda and published by Penn State Press. This book was released on 2013-03-12 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Meaningless, meaningless, everything is meaningless.” The word “meaningless” (hebel) appears more than 40 times in the book of Ecclesiastes and raises the question why a book that appears to deny meaning or purpose is included in the Bible. Many questions of interpretation as well as relevance surround the book of Ecclesiastes, including indeed the proper translation and understanding of the word hebel. If, after all, the book does examine the question of the meaning of life, what could be more important? The present volume explores Ecclesiastes/Qohelet on many different levels: linguistic, text-critical, theological, historical, and literary. The contributors, chosen from many of the leading and emerging experts on the book, present both the state of the field and their own assessment of the varied interpretive issues of Ecclesiastes. They include scholars, preachers, and philosophers. It should be helpful not only to scholars but also to all who want to study this book seriously. The first section of this volume deals with the history of interpretation. The second section is concerned with issues of history, form, and rhetoric. Section three is about key concepts and passages. The fourth section focuses on the language and grammar of Qohelet. The last section engages practical issues of interpretation. The volume is designed to provide exposure to a variety of readers who seek to engage Qohelet in fresh ways in the twenty-first century—from historians of interpretation to biblical exegetes to linguists to theological students.

Book excerpt: In this substantial volume, Thomas Schreiner takes up the study of New Testament theology, looking for the themes that emerge from a detailed reading of the whole rather than considering the individual writings separately. Two themes in particular emerge. The first concerns redemptive history and the kingdom of God. The New Testament writers adopt the Old Testament vision of God's reign and affirm that it has come in Jesus Christ, although final fulfillment is yet to come. Second, the ultimate goal of the kingdom is God's glory. Schreiner goes on to relate these themes to the life of the believer and the community of faith. Pastors and students will find this a comprehensive and illuminating survey of the unifying themes found throughout the New Testament.

Book Seeking Wisdom

Download or read book Seeking Wisdom written by Peter Bevelin and published by Texere. This book was released on 2004-03-01 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Peter Bevelin begins this quest for wisdom by embarking on an ambitious journey into the Darwinian forces at the reins of human decision-making, illustrating just how our pre-agrarian genetic hard-wiring all too-often leads us into disastrous lapses in judgement, whether in financial transactions, business decisions or in everyday life, and ultimately offering us methods to sidestep error and enhance success. Bevelin argues that by being aware of the driving forces behind human nature, we can then more effectively approach our responsibilities in the workplace by conditioning ourselves to approach everyday problems through the logistical anchors of mathematical and scientific thinking. The philosophy of Berkshire Hathaway's Director and Vice-Chairman Charles Munger is offered as counterpoint to the notion that we are simply pawns of our own nature; instead, by actively engaging our knowledge of the natural determinants - biology, math, physics, etc. - and through studying diligently the philosophies of those who have weathered the storm and emerged victorious, we can use this knowledge to our distinct advantage in not only business but in all walks of life."

Book The Evidential Power of Beauty

Download or read book The Evidential Power of Beauty written by Thomas Dubay and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 1999-01-01 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While everyone is delighted by beauty, and the more alive among us are positively fascinated by it, few are explicitly aware that we can recognize truth by its beauty and simplicity. Dubay explores the reasons why all of the most eminent physicists of the twentieth century agree that beauty is the primary standard for scientific truth. Likewise, the best of contemporary theologians are also exploring with renewed vigor the aesthetic dimensions of divine revelation. Honest searchers after truth can hardly fail to be impressed that these two disciplines, science and theology, so different in methods, approaches and aims, are yet meeting in this and other surprising and gratifying ways. This book relates these developments to nature, music, academe and our unquenchable human thirst for unending beauty, truth and ecstasy, a thirst quenched only at the summit of contemplative prayer here below, and in the consummation of the beatific vision hereafter.

Not Yet Married is not about waiting quietly in the corner of the world for God to bring you "the one," but about inspiring you to live and date for more now.
