This book was released on 1969 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this investigation was to develop procedures for conducting finite element analyses of stresses and movements in embankments during construction. The procedures developed involve incremental analyses, simulating successive stages during construction of the embankment, and employ nonlinear stress-strain parameters determined from the results of laboratory tests. Previous studies of the nonlinear, stress-dependent stress-strain behavior of soils were extended during this investigation to include variations of Poisson's ratio values as well as modulus values for use in incremental analyses. In order to examine the suitability of these procedures for representing the stress-strain characteristics of a wide variety of soils under both drained and undrained test conditions, the procedures were applied to 46 different soils, ranging from cobble sizes to highly plastic clays, for which stress-strain information had been published or was available from other sources. In each case it was found that the simple procedures developed for representing nonlinear, stress-dependent soil stress-strain behavior were convenient and provided reasonably accurate representations of the actual soil behavior. Download or read book Soil Mechanics Volume Two written by Pile Buck and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2011-07-07 with total page 725 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soil Mechanics - Version 2 is designed as a comprehensive reference book on both soil mechanics and soil testing. With over 700 pages, we have included, in their entirety, the most common laboratory procedures for soils testing, which is rare to see in soil mechanics textbooks. This manual is primarily intended for the active practitioner in the field, although it is certainly a useful reference for students.

Download or read book Advanced Triaxial Testing of Soil and Rock written by Robert T. Donaghe and published by ASTM International. This book was released on 1988 with total page 896 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Although the triaxial compression test is presently the most widely used procedure for determining strength and stress-deformation properties of soils, there have been no books published on triaxial testing since the 1962 second edition of the landmark work The Measurement of Soil Properties in the Triaxial Test by Bishop and Henkel. It is apparent there is a need to document advances made in triaxial testing since publication of Bishop and Henkel's book and to examine the current state of the art in a forum devoted solely to triaxial testing. Because of increasing versatility brought about by recent developments in testing techniques and equipment, it is also important that the geotechnical profession be provided with an up-to-date awareness of potential uses for the triaxial test."--Overview.
