Book Sea Ice Displacement from SEASAT Synthetic Aperture Radar

Download or read book Sea Ice Displacement from SEASAT Synthetic Aperture Radar written by R. T. Hall and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Images obtained by a synthetic aperture radar on SEASAT have been used to measure sea ice displacements over a three day interval in October 1978. The data points lie roughly along a line and are quite dense--about 2 km apart--over a distance of 863 km. The displacements are about twenty kilometers. Displacement errors grow with distance from shore becoming as large as 3 km. The graph of displacement versus distance has occasional discontinuities of several kilometers. Displacement discontinuities are accurate to + or - 0.07 km along track and 3% of their magnitude across track.

Book Observation of the Earth and Its Environment

Download or read book Observation of the Earth and Its Environment written by Herbert J. Kramer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-01-30 with total page 1509 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about spaceborne missions and instruments. In addition, surveys of airborne missions and of campaigns can be found on the accompanying CD-ROM in pdf-format. Compared with the 3rd edition the spaceborne part grew from about 300 to 1000 pages. The complete text - including the electronic-only chapters - contains more than 1900 pages. New chapters treat the history of Earth observation and university missions. The number of commercial Earth imaging missions has grown significantly. A chapter contains reference data and definitions. Extensive appendices provide a comprehensive glossary, acronyms and abbreviations and an index of sensors. An effort has been made to present the information in context, to point out relationships and interconnections. The book may serve as a reference and guide to all involved in the various national and international space programs: researchers and managers, service providers and data users, teachers and students.

Book Regional Satellite Oceanography

Download or read book Regional Satellite Oceanography written by Serge Victorov and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2003-09-02 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work addresses the whole range of problems relating to the application of satellite technology to studies of regional seas and sea phenomona - the Gulf Stream, the Kuroshia Current - and coastal zones. It argues that to emphasize global applications is to fail to take into account fundamental idiosyncracies specific to the regional perspective. In addition, it describes implementation techniques - data gathering; in situ data assurance, algorithms for parameter retrieval; data storage; and data output.; The book contains satellite imagery and incorporates case studies from areas such as the Baltic and the Black Sea.

Book Applications of Radar Remote Sensing in China

Download or read book Applications of Radar Remote Sensing in China written by Guo Huadong and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2001-07-12 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last decade the field of spaceborne imaging radar remote sensing has advanced to the point where many new applications have become possible. Synthetic aperture radar with its all-weather and day-night capability has become one of the most sophisticated technologies for earth and planetary observation. The deployment of advanced experimental systems has allowed radar imaging data to feed into the analysis of environmental and geophysical problems: whether agricultural, land use, forestry, hydrology, geology, mineral exploration, urbanization, archaeology, natural hazards, oceanography or global change. This atlas provides a set of examples of high quality remote sensing work carried out with this leading technology in China, under the auspices of the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and in collaboration with the USA, European Space Agency, Japan and the former USSR. These examples are discussed, compared with ground truth, and analyzed. It includes applications, data analysis, algorithm development, modeling and backscatter behavior analysis.

Book Sea Ice Movements from Synthetic Aperture Radar

Download or read book Sea Ice Movements from Synthetic Aperture Radar written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The spatial structure of the sea ice velocity field determines ridging, open water production and ice stress. The velocity has been measured roughly every 2 km along an 865 km track from SEASAT synthetic aperture radar. The movement shows individual pieces as large as 100 km. The spatial autocorrelation function of velocity has been estimated from these data and FGGE and AIDJEX buoy data, and has a length scale of roughly 1000 km. A model of the movement of a set of pieces shows the large uncertainty in opening and ridging estimated from velocities measured at only three points. (Author).
