Book A Personal Search for Understanding Evolution

Download or read book A Personal Search for Understanding Evolution written by Jay D. Clark, M.D. and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2022-11-16 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Personal Search for Understanding Evolution: Sharing the same world and similar genome… but not the same ancestry or destiny By: Jay D. Clark, M.D. Good standards of scientific investigation seem to be suspended when it comes to evolution. This work points out scientific flaws in the theory of evolution and explains the fallacy of a godless creation and purposeless existence. Hard evidence of genetic entropy is presented to show the reality of devolution (evolution's opposite). Although we are devolving physically, life gives us an opportunity to evolve spiritually. We can endure almost anything now if we are able to understand what we have to live for. The life and gospel of Jesus Christ offer realistic hope for unspeakable joy beyond mortality.

Book Searching the Heavens and the Earth

Download or read book Searching the Heavens and the Earth written by Agustin Udias and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-10-31 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesuits established a large number of astronomical, geophysical and meteorological observatories during the 17th and 18th centuries and again during the 19th and 20th centuries throughout the world. The history of these observatories has never been published in a complete form. Many early European astronomical observatories were established in Jesuit colleges. During the 17th and 18th centuries Jesuits were the first western scientists to enter into contact with China and India. It was through them that western astronomy was first introduced in these countries. They made early astronomical observations in India and China and they directed for 150 years the Imperial Observatory of Beijing. In the 19th and 20th centuries a new set of observatories were established. Besides astronomy these now included meteorology and geophysics. Jesuits established some of the earliest observatories in Africa, South America and the Far East. Jesuit observatories constitute an often forgotten chapter of the history of these sciences.

Book Seeking a Home for Poetry in a Nomadic World

Download or read book Seeking a Home for Poetry in a Nomadic World written by Silvia Panicieri and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2020-01-28 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thoroughly researched overview on one of the most absorbing literary phenomena of recent decades—the trespassing of cultural and linguistic borders—departs from the canonical point of view offered by the English works of the Nobel laureate, Russian-American poet and essayist Joseph Brodsky, to approach the work of the emerging Hungarian-English poet Ágnes Lehóczky. Through the epistemological filter offered by some guiding texts (such as Bauman, Hall, Braidotti, and many others), this study allows the reader to discover the recounting of a search for an identity, where the adoption of English as an artistic vehicle is only the first thread that unites the two “nomadic” authors. Striving to “locate” language and identity, Brodsky and Lehóczky face the limits of doing so, due to the fluid and nomadic nature of language itself. This suggests, if not answers, then new ways of expression, which draw the language of our future.

Book excerpt: Bestselling author Eric Jerome Dickey's creations “have enough sultry self-confidence to suggest, at their best, a Prince song on paper” (The New York Times). Now, he puts a twist on the love triangle in this sexy, searing, and wise novel. Nicole made a bold move by dumping her fiance at the altar. From there, she's built a successful career, relocated north to Oakland, and fallen in love all over again—this time with a woman. But Nicole's still not entirely happy. Don't get her wrong—she likes what she has. It's just that she misses what she had. The question is, can she have it all? As she brings her ex back into her life and tests the boundaries between lovers, you'd better believe that the anger, jealousy, excitement, and passion of this triangle are going to run hot.... Nicole is playing with fire, not to mention the feelings of the two people who love her most in the world. How these three fascinating people handle this unusual and complex relationship makes for one of Dickey's most provocative and unforgettable novels.

Book Hymn to Perpetual Light

Download or read book Hymn to Perpetual Light written by Don Beach and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2006-03 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hymn to Perpetual Light: A Transcendental Comedy in Six Cantos makes use of Spenserian Stanzas and free verse to describe God's salvation of a world gone astray through Primal Sin. Beginning with theological and philosophical observations about God's relationship to his creation, poet Don Beach compares enlightenment to a spiritual journey. This would be from the darkness of a cave-like existence (ignorance and unawareness similar to Plato's Allegory of the Cave) to the bright light of reality and redemption through God's divine love and compassion. Fortunately, some cave dwellers aren't incorrigible or sinful beyond redemption; they are more likely to be confused and misguided. This, in turn, causes them to be detached from truth, beauty, and God's redeeming love. But the poet shows us that every person can be saved by traveling the challenging road to enlightenment and salvation that he describes in Hymn to Perpetual Light.

Book In Search of Absolute Truth

Download or read book In Search of Absolute Truth written by Ramesh Malhotra and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2023-03-01 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An educated scientist and businessman, author Ramesh Malhotra seeks to unveil the secrets of nature known to ancient spiritual scholars. In 2013, he published Spiritual Wisdom based on the holy scripture, Bhagavad Gita. And lately, he’s been working to unveil truths buried in the Vedas, composed by spiritual scholars throughout the years before the second millennium BCE and extending into the Late Bronze Age. In the first volume of In Search of Absolute Truth, Malhotra journeys through complex, ancient Rig-Veda mystic mythology, writings that address various aspects of creation preservation and transformation, covering the first five chapters of the Rig-Veda. He shares that finding knowledge buried in holy scripture is like climbing a mountain. Your judgment and perception are constantly refined as you move higher and higher in understanding the Vedas. You come to know absolute truth only when you reach the pinnacle, look around, and see that many hills make the mountain peak of the absolute truth. This follow-up work, In Search of Absolute Truth: Rig-Veda Volume II: Spiritual Involution continues where the first volume leaves off.

Book In Search of the Castaways

Download or read book In Search of the Castaways written by Jules Verne and published by anboco. This book was released on 2016-08-12 with total page 683 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book tells the story of the quest for Captain Grant of the Britannia. After finding a bottle the captain had cast into the ocean after the Britannia is shipwrecked, Lord and Lady Glenarvan of Scotland contact Mary and Robert, the young daughter and son of Captain Grant, through an announcement in a newspaper. The government refuses to launch a rescue expedition, but Lord and Lady Glenarvan, moved by the children's condition, decide to do it by themselves. The main difficulty is that the coordinates of the wreckage are mostly erased, and only the latitude (37 degrees) is known; thus, the expedition would have to circumnavigate the 37th parallel south. The bottle was retrieved from a shark's stomach, so it is impossible to trace its origin by the currents. Remaining clues consist of a few words in three languages. They are re-interpreted several times throughout the novel to make various destinations seem likely. Lord Glenarvan makes it his quest to find Grant; together with his wife, Grant's children and the crew of his yacht, the Duncan, they set off for South America. An unexpected passenger ...
