Book Search for Large Extra Dimensions in the Exclusive Photon Missing Energy Channel in P Anti p Collisions

Download or read book Search for Large Extra Dimensions in the Exclusive Photon Missing Energy Channel in P Anti p Collisions written by Jose A. Lazoflores and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search was conducted for evidence of large extra dimensions (LED) at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory's Tevatron using the D0 detector. The Tevatron is a p{bar p} collider at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV. Events with particles escaping into extra dimensions will have large missing energy. The search was carried out using data from a total luminosity of 197 {+-} 13 pb{sup -1} with an observable high transverse momentum photon and a large transverse missing energy. The 70 observed events are consistent with photons produced by standard known reactions plus other background processes produced by cosmic muons. The mass limits on the fundamental mass scale at 95% confidence level for large extra dimensions of 2, 4, 6 and 8 are 500 GeV, 581 GeV, 630 GeV, and 668 GeV respectively.

This book was released on 2008 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present the results of searches for large extra dimensions in samples of events with large missing transverse energy E{sub T} and either a photon or a jet produced in p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV collected with the CDF II detector. For? + E{sub T} and jet + E{sub T} candidate samples corresponding to 2.0 fb−1 and 1.1 fb−1 of integrated luminosity respectively, they observe good agreement with standard model expectations and obtain a combined lower limit on the fundamental parameter of the large extra dimensions model, M{sub D}, as a function of the number of extra dimensions in the model.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present the results of a search for the e.ects of large extra spatial dimensions in p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV in events containing a pair of energetic muons. The data correspond to 246 pb−1 of integrated luminosity collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Good agreement with the expected background was found, yielding no evidence for large extra dimensions. We set 95% C.L. lower limits on the fundamental Planck scale between 0.85 TeV and 1.27 TeV within several formalisms. These are the most stringent limits achieved in the dimuon channel to date.

Book Study of p bar P Collisions that Contain Leptons a Photon and a b quark Using the CDF II Detector

Download or read book Study of p bar P Collisions that Contain Leptons a Photon and a b quark Using the CDF II Detector written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a search for anomalous production of the signature lepton + photon + b-quark + missing transverse energy (`[gamma]6ETb) produced in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at √ s = 1.96 TeV using 6.0 fb-1 of data taken with the CDF detector in Run II at the Tevatron. In addition to this signature-based search, we present a closely-related search for top pair production with an additional radiated photon, t$\bar{t}$[gamma]. We find 85 `[gamma]6ETb events versus an expectation of 99.1±9.3 events. High-statistics control samples are used to evaluate a low-energy photon [chi] 2 cut. Additionally requiring the events to contain at least three jets, have a total transverse energy of 200 GeV, and that the photon candidate passes the [chi] 2 cut, we observe 30 t$\bar{t}$[gamma] candidate events versus an expectation from non-top Standard Model (SM) sources of 13.0 ± 2.1 Assuming the difference between the observed number and the predicted non-top SM total is due to top production, we measure the tt$\bar{[gamma]}$ cross section to be 0.18 ± 0.08 pb. We also measure the ratio of the t$\bar{t}$[gamma] cross section to the t$\bar{t}$cross section to be 0.024 ± 0.009, which compares well with a SM prediction of 0.024 ± 0.013.

Book Search for New Phenomena in Events with a Photon and Missing Transverse Momentum in Pp Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Search for New Phenomena in Events with a Photon and Missing Transverse Momentum in Pp Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper, results of a search for new phenomena in events with an energetic photon and large missing transverse momentum with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider are reported. The data were collected in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb-1. The observed data are in agreement with the Standard Model expectations. Exclusion limits are presented in models of new phenomena including pair production of dark matter candidates or large extra spatial dimensions. In a simplified model of dark matter and an axial-vector mediator, the search excludes mediator masses below 710 GeV for dark matter candidate masses below 150 GeV. In an effective theory of dark matter production, values of the suppression scale M * up to 570 GeV are excluded and the effect of truncation for various coupling values is reported. Finally, for the ADD large extra spatial dimension model the search places more stringent limits than earlier searches in the same event topology, excluding M D up to about 2.3 (2.8) TeV for two (six) additional spatial dimensions; the limits are reduced by 20-40% depending on the number of additional spatial dimensions when applying a truncation procedure.

Book Search for Universal Extra Dimensions in Ppbar Collisions

Download or read book Search for Universal Extra Dimensions in Ppbar Collisions written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a search for Kaluza-Klein (KK) particles predicted by models with universal extra dimensions (UED) using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.3 fb−1, collected by the D0 detector at a p{bar p} center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The decay chain of KK particles can lead to a final state with two muons of the same charge. This signature is used to set a lower limit on the compactification scale of R−1> 260 GeV in a minimal UED model.

Download or read book A Search for Large Extra Dimensions in the Non resonant Diphoton Channel with 35 9fb 1 of Sqrt s written by Steven M Kaplan and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for large extra dimensions in the diphoton final state using the interpretation of the ADD model is presented. The analysis is performed using 35.9fbinv of data from proton-proton collisions during Run II of the Large Hadron Collider that was recorded by the Compact Muon Solenoid detector in the year 2016. The center of mass energy of the proton-proton system was 13TeV. Events from both data and the Standard Model diphoton background monte-carlo simulation are selected by a cut-based photon identification that has been tuned for photons with high transverse momentum. The simulated Standard Model diphoton events are corrected to NNLO precision by a k-factor calculated by MCFM. The contribution from events with one or two jets misidentified as photons is derived by a data-driven method. The observed data are consistent with the Standard Model. Limits on the ultraviolet cutoff parameter of the ADD model of large extra dimensions MS are calculated as a function of the number of extra dimensions n in the GRW, HLZ, and Hewett conventions for the dependence of the total cross section on MS. In the GRW convention, we observe a 95\% lower limit on MS of 7.6TeV.
