The data have been recorded by the BABAR experiment at the?(3S) and?(2S) center of mass energies, and include (121.3 ± 1.2) x 106?(3S) and (98.3 ± 0.9) x 106?(2S) mesons. No significant signal is observed. We set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product branching fractions?(?(nS) 2!?A°) ·?(A° 2!hadrons) (n = 2 or 3) that range from 1 x 10−6 for an A° mass of 0.3 GeV/c2 to 8 x 10−5 at 7 GeV/c2.

Book excerpt: Abstract: I detail my work searching for the radiative decays of D0 mesons, e.g. D0 -- [phi][gamma], within 381.7 fb−1 of ee− data collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy ee− collider at SLAC from 1999-2006. Such decays are not well described under perturbative techniques typically used to estimate the frequency of decays under the Standard Model of Particle Physics (SM), and as such are valuable laboratories to investigate quantum chromodyanmics calculations (QCD). I specifically examine the Cabibbo-suppressed (CS) D0 -- [phi][gamma] decay as well as search for the yet unobserved Cabibbo-favored (CF) decay, D0 -- [kappa]*0[gamma]. I measure the branching fractions of each mode relative to the decay D0 -- [kappa]−[pi] and find: B(D0 -- [phi][gamma]) = (2.73 " 0.30 " 0.26) x 10−5 and B(D0 -- [kappa]*0[gamma]) = (3.22 " 0.20 " 0.27) x 10−4 These results are preliminary and currently under review by the BABAR collaboration ahead of publication. In these expressions the first error is due to statistical sources and the second is due to systematic sources.

Book excerpt: ABSTRACT: We conducted a new search for the radiative decay of Upsilon(1S) to the pseudoscalar mesons eta and eta-prime in (21.2"0.2) x 106 Upsilon(1S) decays collected with the CLEO III detector operation at the Cornell Electron Strorage Ring (CESR). The eta meson was reconstructed in the three modes eta to gamma gamma, eta to pipi−pi0 or eta to pi0 pi0 pi0. The eta-prime meson was reconstructed in the mode eta-prime to pi pi− eta with eta decaying through any of the above three modes; and also eta-prime to gamma rho0, where rho0 to pi+ pi−-. The first six of these decay chains were searched for in the previous CLEO II analysis on this subject, which used a data sample 14.6 times smaller. Five of the seven submodes were virtually background free. We found no signal events in four of them. The only exception was Upsilon(1S) to gamma eta-prime; eta to pi+ pi− pi0 where we observed two good signal candidates. The other two submodes (eta to gamma gamma and eta-prime to gamma rho) are background limited, and showed no excess of events in the signal region. We combined the results from different channels and obtained 90% confidence level (C.L.) upper limits branching fraction(Upsilon(1S) to gamma eta)

Today, however, everything we see, is made almost entirely of matter. A fundamental ingredient to explain this asymmetry between matter and antimatter is the violation of the CP (Charge Parity) symmetry. CP violation has been observed but quantitatively not enough to explain the huge asymmetry. The Belle II experiment in Japan studies the particles produced in electron-positron collisions at the SuperKEKB collider, the highest intensity collider in the World, allowing a high precision measurements of the known sources of CP violation and looking for new ones. In my PhD, I worked on measuring the CP violation in B meson radiative decays (decays with photon in final state) particularly promising thanks to their high sensitivity to possible new processes. Following this analysis, I started a new measurement of the B mesons lifetime where I could verify the robustness of the tools used in the CP violation measurement.

The branching ratios B([psi](2S)[yields][gamma]f[sub 2](1270))= (2.27[+-] 0.26[+-] 0.39) x 10[sup -4] and B([psi](2S)[yields][gamma]f[sub 0](1710)) x B(f[sub 0](1710)[yields] K[sup+]K[sup -])= (5.59[+-] 1.12[+-] 0.93) x 10[sup -5] are obtained. When compared to the corresponding radiative J/[psi] decays, the observed[psi](2S) radiative decay rates into[gamma]f[sub 2](1270) and[gamma]f[sub 0](1710) are consistent with the ''15%'' rule.
