Heading to her parent's home for refuge, she breaks down at the side of the road. Widower Brad Jennings traveling that road discovers Angela and her children. Is it a chance occurrence? Maybe, maybe not, but her life from that moment would be a life much more like steak on the grill and poker on Saturday night than water cress sandwiches and Bridge at the club every Thursday afternoon, never dull, always to be well lived, in the arms of a good man.

Book Neuropsychological Assessment

Download or read book Neuropsychological Assessment written by Muriel Deutsch Lezak and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2012-03-27 with total page 2638 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now in its Fifth Edition, Neuropsychological Assessment reviews the major neurobehavioral disorders associated with brain dysfunction and injury. This is the 35th anniversary of the landmark first edition. As with previous editions, this edition provides a comprehensive coverage of the field of adult clinical neuropsychology in a single source. By virtue of the authors' clinical and research specializations, this book provides a broad-based and in-depth coverage of current neuroscience research and clinical neuropsychology practice. While the new edition is updated to include new features and topics, it remains true to the highly-regarded previous editions. Methods for obtaining optimum data are given in the form of hypothesis-testing techniques, clinical tips, and clinical examples. In the seven years since the previous edition, many advancements have been made in techniques for examining brain function and in our knowledge about brain-behavior relationships. For example, a surge of functional imaging data has emerged and new structural imaging techniques have provided exquisite detail about brain structure. For the first time, this edition includes examples of these advancements, many in stunning color. This edition also includes new tools for clinicians such as a neuroimaging primer and a comparison table of the neuropsychological features of progressive dementias. The chapters on assessment procedures include discussion of issues related to test selection and reviews of recently published as well as older test batteries used in general neuropsychological assessment, plus newly developed batteries for specific issues.

Book Score One for the Dancing Girl and Other Selections from the Kimun ch onghwa

Download or read book Score One for the Dancing Girl and Other Selections from the Kimun ch onghwa written by Ross King and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2016-11-14 with total page 704 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Score One for the Dancing Girl presents more than a hundred stories from an early-nineteenth-century collection of yadam stories, the Kimun ch’onghwa (“Compendium of Records of Hearsay”). Prose tales that feature historical people and places but may also include fantastical elements, the yadam stories in this volume feature ghosts and magic, courtesans and sex, and court politics. They constitute both an entertaining literary collection and a rich treasure trove of information about life in seventeenth and eighteenth-century Korea. The first volume in an ongoing series of translations of classic Korean literature by the Canadian missionary James Scarth Gale (1863–1937), Score One for the Dancing Girl includes the original literary Sinitic (hanmun) text and Gale’s English translation. Both the hanmun and English are extensively annotated. Introductory essays by Ross King and Si Nae Park discuss the yadam genre, Gale’s life and career, and the ways in which his background as a Christian missionary affected the translations.

Book A Regression Analysis of One Set of Airman Proficiency Test Scores

Download or read book A Regression Analysis of One Set of Airman Proficiency Test Scores written by Chester J. Judy and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One criterion for airman skill upgrading in the Air Force is met by attaining a qualifying score on an applicable Airman Proficiency Test (APT). This note reports on an analysis which shows the proportion of variance one such test has in common with selected measures of training, experience, education, aptitude, supervisory opinion, and airman attitudes for a sample of 384 aircraft mechanics tested in 1956 and 1957. Each of these categories of information, excepting airman attitudes, could be used to predict the APT criterion at some level of effectiveness; but only the training variables and the aptitude variables added significantly to the prediction attainable by using all other available information. Other research was cited in which various APT correlates are reported. Results show the utility of APT scores in defining one important aspect of airman proficiency.

Book Local Policies and the European Social Fund

Download or read book Local Policies and the European Social Fund written by Zimmermann, Katharina and published by Policy Press. This book was released on 2019-10-02 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reviews how local social and employment policy fields react to the European Social Fund (ESF) to determine the role of the ESF in local activation policies. Drawing on both sociology and political science literature on welfare state reforms, the author examines what shapes local policy reactions to ESF and what effects these reactions have on change in local policy fields. Comparing data from 18 local case studies across 6 European countries, and deploying an innovative mixed-method approach, the book presents comparative evidence on everyday challenges in the context of the ESF and discusses how these findings are applicable to other funding schemes.
