Download or read book The Online Safety Playbook written by Arun Soni and published by Blue Rose Publishers. This book was released on 2022-03-01 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Children must learn several fundamental skills early in life to protect their safety. Before crossing the street, look both ways. Seatbelts must be worn at all times. Do not talk to strangers. Another item to add to the list is to be wary of hackers and cyber predators. Teachers and parents may teach students of all ages fundamental cybersecurity skills and encourage them to use digital hygiene daily. They can achieve it by including more online educational resources into their curricula and at the same time educating and updating themselves with cybersecurity skills. Children can be taught to automatically protect themselves against cyber threats, just as they do while crossing the street. Just ask yourself- Are we preparing our children for life in the digital age? Are we providing them with the required training and resources to deal with never-before-seen cyber threats? Is our educational system able to keep up with the rapid changes in our society, including technological advancements? The only problem with teaching Cybersecurity in schools and homes is that educators/parents may not be entirely updated on the subject. Or may not feel confident enough to teach it due to a lack of knowledge. That is why there is assistance for students of all age groups, educators and parents.

Download or read book Galactic Astronomy written by James Binney and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2021-07-13 with total page 818 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the definitive treatment of the phenomenology of galaxies--a clear and comprehensive volume that takes full account of the extraordinary recent advances in the field. The book supersedes the classic text Galactic Astronomy that James Binney wrote with Dimitri Mihalas, and complements Galactic Dynamics by Binney and Scott Tremaine. It will be invaluable to researchers and is accessible to any student who has a background in undergraduate physics. The book draws on observations both of our own galaxy, the Milky Way, and of external galaxies. The two sources are complementary, since the former tends to be highly detailed but difficult to interpret, while the latter is typically poorer in quality but conceptually simpler to understand. Binney and Merrifield introduce all astronomical concepts necessary to understand the properties of galaxies, including coordinate systems, magnitudes and colors, the phenomenology of stars, the theory of stellar and chemical evolution, and the measurement of astronomical distances. The book's core covers the phenomenology of external galaxies, star clusters in the Milky Way, the interstellar media of external galaxies, gas in the Milky Way, the structure and kinematics of the stellar components of the Milky Way, and the kinematics of external galaxies. Throughout, the book emphasizes the observational basis for current understanding of galactic astronomy, with references to the original literature. Offering both new information and a comprehensive view of its subject, it will be an indispensable source for professionals, as well as for graduate students and advanced undergraduates.

Download or read book Structure and Dynamics of Elliptical Galaxies written by Tim de Zeeuw and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 589 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IAU Symposium 127 was held in Princeton on May 28-31, 1986, at the Institute for Advanced Study. There were 150 participants from 19 countries. This was the first IAU Symposium devoted exclusively to elliptical galaxies. The last decade has been a period of exceptionally rapid progress regard ing our understanding of elliptical galaxies, driven on the observational side by a wealth of new photometric and spectroscopic data, and on the theoretical side by the recognition that ellipticals are slowly rotating triaxial systems, instead of rotationally flattened bodies. The 30 invited speakers reviewed all aspects of this progress, its consequences, and the major outstanding problems. Nearly 80 poster contributions were displayed for the duration of the meeting. These contained many of the most recent developments. The first part of these Proceedings contains the written versions of the invited reviews and the summary, in the order of their presentation. The accompanying discussions are based on the written versions of questions and answers as handed in by the participants. The second part of this book is devoted to the poster contribu tions. They have been grouped in a thematic order, proceeding from morphology to theory. Indices of objects, subjects, and names are provided. Unfortunately, none of the invited participants from the USSR were able to attend the Symposium. The Proceedings include the written versions of the planned contributions by Popov and Polyachenko.
Download or read book The New Cosmology written by Roland E. Allen and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2004-12-14 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers in this volume examine the recent revolutionary discoveries in cosmology and astronomy, and their theoretical interpretation. The observational evidence for an accelerating universe, and an earlier decelerating phase, is brought up to date with the newest results for the most distant and oldest Type Ia supernovae. The data from the WMAP satellite provide, for the first time, true precision cosmology: reliable results for the age of the universe, its geometry, its evolution over the past 13.7 billion years, and many other features, including the proportions of ordinary matter, dark matter, and dark energy. Other papers in this volume describe the information obtained with 21st century astronomical techniques, including gravitational lensing, studies across the electromagnetic spectrum with ground-based and NASA observatories, and surveys of millions of galaxies. The results are interpreted by leading theorists using both accepted and exotic theories, including inflation and superstring theory.

Download or read book The Spectral Energy Distribution of Galaxies SED 2011 IAU S284 written by Richard J. Tuffs and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2012-08-30 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent observational developments are providing the first truly panchromatic view of galaxies, extending from the radio to TeV gamma-rays. This is motivating the development of new models for the interpretation of spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of galaxies in terms of the formation, evolution and emission of stellar and accretion-driven sources of photons, the interaction of the photons with the gaseous and dust components of the interstellar medium, and high-energy processes involving cosmic rays. IAU Symposium 284 details progress in the development of such models, their relation to fundamental theory, and their application to the interpretation of the panchromatic emission from the Milky Way and nearby galaxies, connecting the latter with models for the evolution of the SEDs of distant galaxies, and the extragalactic background light. IAU S284 is a useful resource for all researchers working with the copious amounts of multiwavelength data for galaxies now becoming available.
