Book The Simple Little Salvation Story

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Engage and energize young readers with a fresh take on the Gospel story of Jesus. Charmingly illustrated and very accessible, The Simple Little Salvation Story takes readers on a journey to help them easily understand God's loving plan of salvation. And it helps parents answer lots of difficult questions along the way -- like why did Jesus have to die for our sins? And what are sins, anyway? The Simple Little Salvation Story isn't just a retelling of Bible stories with colorful pictures and short sentences. In fact it doesn't even start with Adam and Eve. It starts with robots. Yes, robots. Then it moves into skateboarding and helping senior citizens across the street. And then it introduces what sin is and God's amazing plan to wash us clean of it so we can live with Him forever. So add some of Jesus' dramatic story to your story time. Or give it to a child or grandchild on a special religious occasion or holiday. It will help explain – in an engaging way with beautiful illustrations from noted artist Shirley Chiang – what all this Christian salvation stuff is about, anyway. Praise for The Simple Little Salvation Story: “The analogy of the robots had me hooked immediately. I've taught Religion for over 40 years and I would read this to my students in a heartbeat!” — Pam Ferguson, Holy Family Catholic School, St. Petersburg, FL“The Simple Little Salvation Story captures the essence of the most profound theological truths and communicates them in a way that is simple and understandable to our children. Get this book. Read it, but most of all read it aloud and make sure someone else is listening!” —Dr. Willy Rice, Senior Pastor, Calvary Baptist Church, Clearwater, FL(60 pages; ages 5+)

Book excerpt: New York Times bestseller What is Jesus worth to you? It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily... But who do you know who lives like that? Do you? In Radical, David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple--then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a "successful" suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus. Finally, he urges you to join in The Radical Experiment -- a one-year journey in authentic discipleship that will transform how you live in a world that desperately needs the Good News Jesus came to bring.

Book excerpt: When God's people pray, they want answers. Yet many Christians don't know how to pray both effectively - in a way that gets results - and humbly - in a way that aligns with God's will. Prayer is a powerful weapon against the true adversaries of God's people: principalities, powers, dark rulers and spiritual wickedness in high places. These forces are the perpetrators of all kinds of evil: Addiction, abuse, poverty and spiritual bondage run rampant through families, churches, cities and nations. What can believers do to battle these forces? They can pray. Not just any prayer: the prayer of petition, known throughout Christian history as the prayer that gets results. Prayer of Petition explores this powerful prayer in detail, from the many examples found in God's Word to more recent instances of incredible miracles ushered in by this prayer. Readers will learn the biblical definitions of petition and supplication, and examine the key components of preparation, thanksgiving and humility. As readers learn to petition the Ruler of All, their confidence that God will prevail - no matter what - will grow, and as they learn to rest in His promises, peace will reign over their hearts through the coming revival.

Book Angel Children Those who Die Before Accountability

Download or read book Angel Children Those who Die Before Accountability written by Mary V. Hill and published by Horizon. This book was released on 1975 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Angel Children is a careful presentation of Latter-day Saint doctrine concerning the status of children who pass away before being baptized. It is a compassionate book which brings comfort and consolation through increased understanding to those who read it. The author, Mary V Hill, lost her own child and shares the emotions she felt during that trying period. She deals with aspects of religious life when serious illness develops: effective prayer, faith and healing, priesthood administration, man's appointed time to die, and one's attitude towards death. The subject then shifts to the status of little children after their passing. She shows how little children need no baptism, that they are heirs of the Celestial Kingdom, and that they are redeemed from the temptations of Satan. Life in the Spirit World is discussed, then the resurrection and the status of children following the resurrection is considered. Another chapter is devoted to the status of retarded children here on earth. The author shows that the eternal spirit of a retarded child is not affected by the illness and discusses the eternal plan for such children. Great comfort is found in the final chapter: Overcoming the Challenge. The author tells of the necessity for having a positive attitude, mourning and being comforted, and ends with the reassurance that after much tribulation come the blessings. Angel Children is readable and inspirational. It is also a valuable collection of doctrinal materials on this important subject, including the scriptures and words of instruction and counsel by General Authorities of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Horizon Publishers is pleased to recommend it highly!
