Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are categories for the judgment of salvation which are mercy, justice, and grace. For human beings who do not believe in God, they will receive justice of what they have done. For the believers, God may give mercy or grace which are usually conditional upon works or faith. They cannot mix works and grace as far as salvation is concern. Salvation Contract gave a clarification between mercy and grace with regards to salvation. Other subject matter clarified in this book are: born against vs. born again; faith vs. work; grace vs. law; faith vs. belief; fact vs. truth; natural faith vs. biblical faith and so forth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea of a heavenly contract, uniting God and humanity in a bargain of salvation, emerged as the keystone of Puritan theology in early modern England. Yet this concept, with its connotations of exchange and reciprocity, runs counter to other tenets of Calvinism, such as predestination, that were also central to Puritan thought. With bold analytic intelligence, David Zaret explores this puzzling conflict between covenant theology and pure Calvinism. In the process he demonstrates that popular beliefs and activities had tremendous influence on Puritan religion.

Book The Way the Truth and the Life

Download or read book The Way the Truth and the Life written by Merle A. Barlow and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2014-09-18 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes, from various perspectives, the Love, Mercy, and Grace of someone who loves you and me. Unlike a novel, each of the chapters in my book is an independent topic. Each chapter topic is relatively brief, except the last. The last chapter is a comprehensive presentation of the answers to these questions: Who is a Christian?, and What is Christianity? My supreme and profound purpose for this book and its content is to proclaim, celebrate, praise, and glorify Jesus, His Faith, and His Truth. Author Merle Barlow reveals Gods plan of reconciliation with humanity. Jesus tells us that mans standardsreligionsrepresent the broad way that will lead to destruction (Hell), and many people will go this way. Jesus tells us that His Way is the narrow way that leads to life (Heaven), and relatively few people will choose this way. This book is about truth. Conditional and relative truth are human fabrications. Truth has no versions. God is the author of truth. He, and He alone, is the authority for Righteousness, and His Truth will free you from the bondage of sin. Life is a significant theme in this book. Jesus has conquered Satan, Sin, Death, and Hell. He tells you that you can have this same victory. Jesus tells you that you can have eternal life if you will trust Him. He asks you: Do you believe this?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Each of us is faced with an impossible problem. Each of us has broken some portion of God’s Law. (That’s called sin.) Unfortunately, this means we are destined to stand before God at the Great White Throne Judgment at the end of time. God’s Law is pure law. It is cold, logical, unemotional, and perfect. It is just. It is righteous. But, as such, it does not offer grace, compassion, forgiveness, or hope. Therefore, each of us will be found guilty and sentenced to the Lake of Fire. That is our eternal fate under God’s Law. God does not want to do this, but His Law forces Him to find us guilty and sentence us to suffer for all eternity. How can God avoid the demands of the Law, fulfill the letter of the Law, keep the Law intact, and still deal with us in love, grace, and compassion? God is able to use a little-known clause in His Law to offer a solution to this problem. It is a plea bargain agreement to satisfy the Law and still save us. To this end, He wrote the Bible, a legally binding contract, to offer an escape.

Book The Hasidic Psychology

Download or read book The Hasidic Psychology written by and published by Transaction Publishers. This book was released on 2003-11-01 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interest in the impact of ethical systems and social or religious ideologies on socio-behavioral patterns is a longstanding theme in social science research. While interest may have begun with Max Weber and his thesis of the relationship between the Protestant ethic and the spirit of capitalism, it extends far beyond this. Surprisingly, few studies have delved into the socio-behavioral patterns emanating from Jewish ethics. This book, with a new introduction by the author, fills that gap. As Hasidic Psychology makes clear, Jewish ethics are unique in many ways, especially in that they are essentially other-centered. Man's ability to affect his own future and interpersonal relations are explained according to the theory of contraction, popularized in Hasidic thought: God, by contracting Himself to evacuate space for the human world, bestowed upon man the power and responsibility to determine his own future, and even affect God's disposition. In the first part of the book, the sociological-structural concept of mono versus multiple ideal labeling is introduced. This concept refers to a social system in which diverse material and spiritual actualization patterns are structurally introduced as equal social ideals. In the second part, basic tenets of classic interaction and socialization are compared to the interpersonal perspective, and the contraction theory is explained as a process of "mutual emulation," whereby father and son affect each other. In the third part, a functional approach to deviance is developed through the Hasidic process known as "ascend via descend."

Book Community Engagement after Christendom

Download or read book Community Engagement after Christendom written by Douglas G. Hynd and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-02-25 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The post-Christendom era in the English-speaking world has seen a significant reduction in access to political power by the churches, a slow loss of their social and cultural influence, and a shredding of their moral standing from abuse scandals and other public failings. Community Engagement after Christendom directly addresses these challenges, proposing a different approach to the relationship between church and society. Church agencies today are often entangled in contracting with the state and its private partners to deliver government policy and services. This means they can be increasingly vulnerable to external pressure. So what resources can they and their agencies draw upon to reshape community engagement in a difficult, unsettling context? Community Engagement after Christendom proposes a multifaceted approach. It begins by reading Scripture afresh through questions shaped by the present situation. Douglas Hynd then explores the story of Anabaptist public servant Pilgram Marpeck, identifying how his critique of Christendom can help reshape our understanding today. Finally, he looks at the current experience of church-related agencies and Christian advocacy, suggesting fresh, imaginative ways forward.

Book William Blake s Religious Vision

Download or read book William Blake s Religious Vision written by Jennifer Jesse and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2013-02-14 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this innovative study, Jesse challenges the prevailing view of Blake as an antinomian and describes him as a theological moderate who defended an evangelical faith akin to the Methodism of John Wesley. She arrives at this conclusion by contextualizing Blake’s works not only within Methodism, but in relation to other religious groups he addressed in his art, including the Established Church, deism, and radical religions. Further, she analyzes his works by sorting out the theological “road signs” he directed to each audience. This approach reveals Blake engaging each faction through its most prized beliefs, manipulating its own doctrines through visual and verbal guide-posts designed to communicate specifically with that group. She argues that, once we collate Blake’s messages to his intended audiences—sounding radical to the conservatives and conservative to the radicals—we find him advocating a system that would have been recognized by his contemporaries as Wesleyan in orientation. This thesis also relies on an accurate understanding of eighteenth-century Methodism: Jesse underscores the empirical rationalism pervading Wesley’s theology, highlighting differences between Methodism as practiced and as publicly caricatured. Undergirding this project is Jesse’s call for more rigorous attention to the dramatic character of Blake’s works. She notes that scholars still typically use phrases like “Blake says” or “Blake believes,” followed by some claim made by a Blakean character, without negotiating the complex narrative dynamics that might enable us to understand the rhetorical purposes of that statement, as heard by Blake’s respective audiences. Jesse maintains we must expect to find reflections in Blake’s works of all the theologies he engaged. The question is: what was he doing with them, and why? In order to divine what Blake meant to communicate, we must explore how those he targeted would have perceived his arguments. Jesse concludes that by analyzing the dramatic character of Blake’s works theologically through this wide-angled, audience-oriented approach, we see him orchestrating a grand rapprochement of the extreme theologies of his day into a unified vision that integrates faith and reason.

Download or read book Damned Deceptions written by Dennis Knotts and published by Strategic Book Publishing & Rights Agency. This book was released on 2020-02-12 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus gave His believers a very clear warning: “Take heed and let no man deceive you.” The problem with deception is that those who are deceived do not know that they are deceived. Deception is the tool of Satan to try and lead people away from the salvation that God has promised through His Word, the Bible. This manuscript explores the history, doctrines, and teachings of two major cults, analyzing them to see if they comply with the promises God makes in His Word, or are they deceptions designed to lead people astray and into outer darkness. Damned Deceptions also follows the logic of the teachings of these cults to see what they are actually claiming and offering their followers. Do people truly realize what they are saying when they teach their doctrines? These are beliefs that you cannot get wrong, because if you have been deceived and are wrong, God’s Word tells us that you will be damned. If what you believe about God, the Bible, and Jesus is wrong, wouldn’t you like to know the truth? This book offers just that: the truth based upon what God says in His Word. This book looks at the Bible as a legally binding contract between God and man. It reviews and analyzes the teachings of Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Latter-day Saints in light of contract law, to see if their teachings and doctrine would hold up in a court of law, or are they nothing more than deceptions that will lead believers to be lost for eternity.
