Book excerpt: Sacred Sundays is a self-help guide book to help the thousands of women who are care takers and nurturers of others before they take care of and nurture themselves. As women, we often times give the entire essences of who we are to others, not honoring our own self-worth nor understanding how to balance the life we have created or been given. Sacred Sundays was written to help the powerful and powerless super women living on the edge of burnout and breakdown fi nd ways to press pause and take time out of their busy schedules to restore and rejuvenate their mind and bodies, as well as how to fi nd spiritual transformation through personal and sacred intimacy. Isn’t it time for you to care for yourself the same way you care for others?

Book THE SACRED SUNDAY WORDS OF WISDOM JOURNAL

Download or read book THE SACRED SUNDAY WORDS OF WISDOM JOURNAL written by Michael William AngelOh and published by Children of Light Publishing. This book was released on 2019-05-24 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It was on July 4th that I found an up and coming Social Media Website called Facebook. I registered for my first Facebook Homepage account and within 30 days had composed a page featuring my “HAWAIIAN WORDS OF WISDOM” sayings. I immediately began receiving hundreds of likes and encouraging comments to my new page which inspired me to begin another new page entitled, “SACRED^SUNDAY WORDS OF WISDOM.” This page would feature my collection of writings and Quotations which I would feature to my many friends on Facebook and then on Twitter another Social Media site posted early each Sunday morning. These early creations have been published regularly on both Fridays and Sundays ever since 2008 and are the source and inspiration for this Book. Each Friday I had posted one of my Hawaiian Words of Wisdom Quotations in both Hawaiian with the English translation. Each Sunday I had posted one of my very favorite Scriptural Quotations occasionally with a comment or personal Prayer attached. The other days of the week were inspired primarily by my own personal Quotations that I had published in my personal Newsletter entitled, “The Sacred^Sunday Journals” which went out weekly to over 6,000 subscribers along with my Sunday postings on Social Media. This new Book publication offers Daily Inspiration and features what are called, “THE FRUITS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT” Quotations. It also features the author's "HAWAIIAN WORDS OF WISDOM" as well as “SACRED^SUNDAY'S SCRIPTURAL QUOTATIONS" for 365 days, a full year. They are presented as daily reminders or what may be called “THE INSPIRATIONAL WORD FOR THE DAY.” Daily "WORD STONE IMAGES" are also posted to keep the reader’s attention focused upon those Spiritual attributes in each Soul’s consciousness that may be reflected upon each day of ordinary time for each individual Soul’s lifetime journey. The “SACRED^SUNDAY WORDS OF WISDOM JOURNAL” begins on a Sunday with Day 1 and ends on a Sunday with Day 365. My sincere desire is that each Quotation for every day of whatever year you happen to be reading this Book will warm your Heart and illuminate your mind and Soul having a human experience on a daily basis.

Book The Religious Lives of Older Laywomen

Download or read book The Religious Lives of Older Laywomen written by Abby Day and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2017 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Religious Lives of Older Laywomen draws on ethnographic fieldwork, cross-cultural comparisons, and relevant theories exploring the beliefs, identities, and practices of "Generation A"--Anglican laywomen born in the 1920s and 1930s. Now in their 70s, 80s, and 90s, they are often described as the "backbone" of the Church and likely its final active generation. The prevalence of laywomen in mainstream Christian congregations is a widely accepted phenomenon that will cause little surprise amongst the research community or Christian adherents. What is surprising is that we know so little about them. Generation A laywomen have remained largely invisible in previous work on institutional religion in Euro-American countries, particularly as the focus on religion and gender has turned to youth, sexuality, and priesthood. Female Christian Generation A is on the cusp of a catastrophic decline in mainstream Christianity that accelerated during the 'post-war' (post-1945) age. The age profile of mainstream Christianity represents an increasingly aging pattern, with Generation A not being replaced by their children or grandchildren--the Baby-Boomers and generations X, Y, and Z. Generation A is irreplaceable and unique. "Generation" shares specific values, beliefs, behaviors, and orientations, therefore, when this generation finally disappears within the next five to 10 years, their knowledge, insights, and experiences will be lost forever. Abby Day both documents and interprets their religious lives and what we can learn about them and more widely, about contemporary Christianity and its future.

Book Harvard Square

  • Author : Catherine J. Turco
  • Publisher : Columbia University Press
  • Release : 2023-02-28
  • ISBN : 0231557868
  • Pages : 489 pages

Download or read book Harvard Square written by Catherine J. Turco and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2023-02-28 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Harvard Square isn’t what it used to be.” Spend any time there, and you’re bound to hear that lament. Yet people have been saying the very same thing for well over a century. So what does it really mean that Harvard Square—or any other beloved Main Street or downtown—“isn’t what it used to be”? Catherine J. Turco, an economic sociologist and longtime denizen of Harvard Square, set out to answer this question after she started to wonder about her own complicated feelings concerning the changing Square. Diving into Harvard Square’s past and present, Turco explores why we love our local marketplaces and why we so often struggle with changes in them. Along the way, she introduces readers to a compelling set of characters, including the early twentieth-century businessmen who bonded over scotch and cigars to found the Harvard Square Business Association; a feisty, frugal landlady who became one of the Square’s most powerful property owners in the mid-1900s; a neighborhood group calling itself the Harvard Square Defense Fund that fought real estate developers throughout the 1980s and ’90s; and a local businesswoman who, in recent years, strove to keep her shop afloat amid personal tragedy, the rise of Amazon, and a globalizing property market that sent her rent soaring. Harvard Square tells the crazy, complicated love story of one quirky little marketplace and in the process, reveals the hidden love story Americans everywhere have long had with their own Main Streets and downtowns. Offering a new and powerful lens that exposes the stability and instability, the security and insecurity, markets provide, Turco transforms how we think about our cherished local marketplaces and markets in general. We come to see that our relationship with the markets in our lives is, and has always been, about our relationship with ourselves and one another, how we come together and how we come apart.

The word catechism means "instruction" - this book will serve as the standard for all future catechisms. Using the tradition of explaining what the Church believes (the Creed), what she celebrates (the Sacraments), what she lives (the Commandments), and what she prays (the Lord's Prayer), the Catechism of the Catholic Church offers challenges for believers and answers for all those interested in learning about the mystery of the Catholic faith. The Catechism of the Catholic Church is a positive, coherent and contemporary map for our spiritual journey toward transformation.
