Book River Algae

Download or read book River Algae written by Orlando Necchi JR and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-06-02 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The content is focused on benthic communities showing how they play an in important role in the river ecosystems. Provides also information on taxonomy of river-inhabiting algal groups, including phylogeny, distribution, collection, preservation and description of the most representative genera of algae in river benthic algal communities. The book also approaches the ecology of river algae not to mention the ecological factors influencing abundance, distribution and diversity of river benthic algal communities and their use as bio-indicators, providing an up-to-date information on taxonomy, ecology, methodology and uses, and a great source of research to everyone interested in freshwater algae, limnology, water quality assessment and biodiversity in river ecosystems.

Book Catalogue of the Benthic Marine Algae of the Indian Ocean

Download or read book Catalogue of the Benthic Marine Algae of the Indian Ocean written by Paul C. Silva and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 1996-09-22 with total page 1276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This catalogue, which integrates nearly 35,000 records of benthic marine algae from the Indian Ocean into a taxonomic classification comprising 3,355 specific and infraspecific taxa in 629 genera, will greatly facilitate future work in this region. The bibliography of 4,000 references is the largest list of phycological literature ever published. The extensive taxonomic and nomenclatural notes are of paramount importance.

Book S wasserflora von Mitteleuropa Bd 21 1 Freshwater Flora of Central Europe Vol 21 1 Fungi

Download or read book S wasserflora von Mitteleuropa Bd 21 1 Freshwater Flora of Central Europe Vol 21 1 Fungi written by Holger Thüs and published by Springer-Verlag. This book was released on 2010-04-11 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Modern Trends in Diatom Identification

Download or read book Modern Trends in Diatom Identification written by Gabriel Cristóbal and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-05-28 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High-resolution images of phytoplankton cells such as diatoms or desmids, which are useful for monitoring water quality, can now be provided by digital microscopes, facilitating the automated analysis and identification of specimens. Conventional approaches are based on optical microscopy; however, manual image analysis is impractical due to the huge diversity of this group of microalgae and its great morphological plasticity. As such, there is a need for automated recognition techniques for diagnostic tools (e.g. environmental monitoring networks, early warning systems) to improve the management of water resources and decision-making processes. Describing the entire workflow of a bioindicator system, from capture, analysis and identification to the determination of quality indices, this book provides insights into the current state-of-the-art in automatic identification systems in microscopy.

Book S wasserfauna von Mitteleuropa Bd 7 2 3 Chelicerata

Download or read book S wasserfauna von Mitteleuropa Bd 7 2 3 Chelicerata written by Reinhard Gerecke and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-04-11 with total page 429 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the first time in limnofaunistic bibliography, the present taxonomic knowledge about the different clades of chelicerata having adapted to an aquatic or amphibious lifestyle along various evolutionary pathways is brought together in an overview for the Central-European fauna. A total number of 746 taxa is covered, over 99 % of these at species level. In Volume 7/2-1 altogether 211 species are treated - 70 species of spiders, 7 species of Astigmata (3 of which to be identified only at family, genus, resp. species group level), 17 species of Oribatida, 27 species and one subspecies of Halacaridae, 45 species of terrestrial Parasitengona (4 of which to be identified only at genus level) and 45 species of Hydrachnidia (4 Stygothrombioidea, 3 Hydrovolzioidea, 16 Hydrachnoidea and 22 Eylaoidea). Volume 7/2-2 deals with 179 species of Hydrachnidia (58 Hydryphantoidea and 121 Lebertioidea). This third volume (Volume 7/2-3) includes taxonomic keys and ecological information for 355 species of the two highly diverse Hydrachnidia superfamilies Hygrobatoidea (241 species and one subspecies) and Arrenuroidea (113 species). The chelicerata volumes of this series are a basic tool for all limnologists interested in diversity and ecology – in particular for biologists investigating the ecotones between ground and surface water, between bottom substrata and open water, and between water and land.
