It was 700 miles through jungles, over mountains, and crossing streams. Some 200,000 native laborers were involved. That was Irwin Reiss' job -- recruiting local tribesmen to move dirt and build bridges by hand and limited heavy help from Caterpillar tractors. Read these letters from the jungle and from the homefront and then ask yourself why is ongoing turmoil in other parts of the world.

Download or read book Heaven is Closer than You Think written by Fred Blom and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-02-22 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a Testimony of real life, not games or movies. The majority of the people in the world don't believe in the one and only God. Then there are fewer, which believe in Jesus Christ. Of that group, how many drift in and out of this commitment. How many worship with their lips, but not their hearts. My parents and relatives fell into the group of there is no God, just nature and the natural renewal of its cycle. For me curiosity was the thing. I had to know the beginning and end of everything, step by step. It's the way I am built! I want every breath and every step I take, to be closer to Jesus Christ. Walk with me and we will see how close heaven really is to us. Why write this testimony of life? Well, we all have the happy and sad, the hard and easy and the close to God, weather we are aware of it or not and the far from God, which we do not understand. Just a few weeks ago I ask my Father in heaven if I should continue to write the 1st Testimonials each month or perhaps even reveal the deep things, which have helped me thru life. In the process and time of seven days I was shown how the hidden secrets of heaven work. To me it's funny, serious and truthful! I work on my testimonials stories at night. It was the hand of God, that leads me to do that, no doubt and you will learn that a little later. There are always more people to give them to, than I can accomplish. Maybe I should put them in a book for everyone Father. I don't have time or know how... I felt like a tap in the back of my head, when I prayed that. I slapped my hand over my mouth, trying to take it back, at the same time I looked behind myself to see if something had fallen off the wall. I stopped praying, took a big sigh and went to sleep. Why did I say too busy? I wrestled all night with, "the secrets of heaven are my Lord Jesus Christ's, but that which he gives us are ours. For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. (Luke 12:2) I was referred to recently as the little lion, which would not roar and the lost generation. Then a voice stood up for me and said, "No, this is the one who walks the dusty road. I wanted to respond, but I fell to the ground in weakness, because of the awesomeness around me. I was shown the loss of mankind and told to go forth with the testimony I was given. I cry and pray with great supplication, before the heavenly throne of our savior, Jesus Christ. I don't want anyone to be lost! Even though I have learned many things and seen many things, the ultimate purpose is the salvation of the soul. Many things are wonderful and thrilling and most assuredly can be beyond ones metal capability. A pillar of light revealed one night and the protection from 220 volts the next day. Falling down a 100 foot silo chute and being caught in mid-air, revealing of the Holy Spirit to change on lookers hearts in an instant. Even close deaths being miraculously healed by the Holy Spirit. This has brought about dozens of hearts and souls with life changing results. The value of a soul may seem difficult to understand, but it isn't hard at all. The angles in heaven give ultimate joy and praise to the King of glory for the salvation of just one soul. The creation of people shall come to an end and judgment shall fall. The number of saved souls shall be small in number, compared to those that lived. You may think a body is marvelous, but the soul is a 1000 times 10,000 times more magnificent. Capabilities and wonders that stagger the mind! Even I have taken the soul for granite and continually fights the good fight. The most important thing in life is the salvation of your soul. Fred wants you to fight for it! Love in Christ, Fred
Download or read book All Involved written by Ryan Gattis and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2015-04-07 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A propulsive and ambitious novel as electrifying as The Wire, from a writer hailed as the West Coast's Richard Price—a mesmerizing epic of crime and opportunity, race, revenge, and loyalty, set in the chaotic streets of South Central L.A. in the wake of one of the most notorious and incendiary trials of the 1990s At 3:15 p.m. on April 29, 1992, a jury acquitted three white Los Angeles Police Department officers charged with using excessive force to subdue a black man named Rodney King, and failed to reach a verdict on the same charges involving a fourth officer. Less than two hours later, the city exploded in violence that lasted six days. In nearly 121 hours, fifty-three lives were lost. But there were even more deaths unaccounted for: violence that occurred outside of active rioting sites by those who used the chaos to viciously settle old scores. A gritty and cinematic work of fiction, All Involved vividly re-creates this turbulent and terrifying time, set in a sliver of Los Angeles largely ignored by the media during the riots. Ryan Gattis tells seventeen interconnected first-person narratives that paint a portrait of modern America itself—laying bare our history, our prejudices, and our complexities. With characters that capture the voices of gang members, firefighters, graffiti kids, and nurses caught up in these extraordinary circumstances, All Involved is a literary tour de force that catapults this edgy writer into the ranks of such legendary talents as Dennis Lehane and George V. Higgins.

Download or read book Prison Journal written by George Pell and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2021-11-02 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Innocent! That final verdict came after George Cardinal Pell endured a gruelling four years of accusations, investigations, trials, public humiliations, and more than a year of imprisonment after being convicted by an Australian court of a crime he did not commit. Led off to jail in handcuffs, following his sentencing on March 13, 2019, the 78-year-old Australian prelate began what was meant to be six years in jail for "historical sexual assault offenses". Cardinal Pell endured more than thirteen months in solitary confinement, before the Australian High Court voted 7-0 to overturn his original convictions. His victory over injustice was not just personal, but one for the entire Catholic Church. Bearing no ill will toward his accusers, judges, prison workers, journalists, and those harbouring and expressing hatred for him, the cardinal used his time in prison as a kind of "extended retreat". He eloquently filled notebook pages with his spiritual insights, prison experiences, and personal reflections on current events both inside and outside the Church, as well as moving prayers. In this third and final volume, Cardinal Pell''s conviction is overturned by Australia''s High Court, and he is released from prison. As his appeal draws near, he grows in confidence that his case is strong and that his vindication is important not only for his own sake and the Church''s sake, but also for the sake of Australia''s legal system. While continuing his daily readings and devotions, and receiving hundreds of letters with offers of prayers and sacrifices on his behalf, the cardinal ponders the meaning of suffering in the life of the Christian, and he determines to accept with equanimity whatever outcome lies ahead.
