Book The Biography of Muhammad

Download or read book The Biography of Muhammad written by Harald Motzki and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ten revised versions of presentations at an international colloquium held in October 1997 in Nijmagen, the Netherlands, provide a range of methodological approaches and use varying types of evidence to examine issues around the sources for the several biographies of The Prophet written between the end of the second and end of the third Islamic centuries. Five of them look at the development of the sira tradition of writing the life of Muhammad; the other five at the historical reliability of the biographical source material, including that used by the earliest Christian writings. Book excerpt: "And most certainly, thou (O Muhammad) are of most sublime and exalted character." (The Holy Qur’ân, 68:4) How the Topic Arose About ten years ago, a distant cousin of mine - Mr. Mohamed Mehtar Farooki gave me a typed quotation by the French historian, Lamartine. The quotation [A detailed exposition of the quotation will be found on page 38 ] purported to prove that Muhammad (pbuh), the prophet of Islam, was the greatest man that ever lived. Mr. Mehtar was in the habit of passing information on to me, believing that I might put the same to some good use at the proper time and place. Before this he had presented me with "The Call of the Minaret," an expensive book written by (Bishop Kenneth Cragg). By analysing this book I discovered the masterful deceit of the Christian Orientalists.

Book Geometry of Differential Forms

Download or read book Geometry of Differential Forms written by Shigeyuki Morita and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2001 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the times of Gauss, Riemann, and Poincare, one of the principal goals of the study of manifolds has been to relate local analytic properties of a manifold with its global topological properties. Among the high points on this route are the Gauss-Bonnet formula, the de Rham complex, and the Hodge theorem; these results show, in particular, that the central tool in reaching the main goal of global analysis is the theory of differential forms. The book by Morita is a comprehensive introduction to differential forms. It begins with a quick introduction to the notion of differentiable manifolds and then develops basic properties of differential forms as well as fundamental results concerning them, such as the de Rham and Frobenius theorems. The second half of the book is devoted to more advanced material, including Laplacians and harmonic forms on manifolds, the concepts of vector bundles and fiber bundles, and the theory of characteristic classes. Among the less traditional topics treated is a detailed description of the Chern-Weil theory. The book can serve as a textbook for undergraduate students and for graduate students in geometry.

Book An Introduction to the Theory of Numbers

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Basic Algebra and Advanced Algebra systematically develop concepts and tools in algebra that are vital to every mathematician, whether pure or applied, aspiring or established. Together, the two books give the reader a global view of algebra and its role in mathematics as a whole. The presentation includes blocks of problems that introduce additional topics and applications to science and engineering to guide further study. Many examples and hundreds of problems are included, along with a separate 90-page section giving hints or complete solutions for most of the problems.

Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to those parts of analysis that are most useful in applications for graduate students. The material is selected for use in applied problems, and is presented clearly and simply but without sacrificing mathematical rigor. The text is accessible to students from a wide variety of backgrounds, including undergraduate students entering applied mathematics from non-mathematical fields and graduate students in the sciences and engineering who want to learn analysis. A basic background in calculus, linear algebra and ordinary differential equations, as well as some familiarity with functions and sets, should be sufficient.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Combining a concrete perspective with an exploration-based approach, Exploratory Galois Theory develops Galois theory at an entirely undergraduate level. The text grounds the presentation in the concept of algebraic numbers with complex approximations and assumes of its readers only a first course in abstract algebra. For readers with Maple or Mathematica, the text introduces tools for hands-on experimentation with finite extensions of the rational numbers, enabling a familiarity never before available to students of the subject. The text is appropriate for traditional lecture courses, for seminars, or for self-paced independent study by undergraduates and graduate students.

Book Introduction to Combinatorics

Download or read book Introduction to Combinatorics written by Gerald Berman and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Combinatorics focuses on the applications, processes, methodologies, and approaches involved in combinatorics or discrete mathematics. The book first offers information on introductory examples, permutations and combinations, and the inclusion-exclusion principle. Discussions focus on some applications of the inclusion-exclusion principle, derangements, calculus of sets, permutations, combinations, Stirling's formula, binomial theorem, regions of a plane, chromatic polynomials, and a random walk. The text then examines linear equations with unit coefficients, recurrence relations, and generating functions. Topics include derivatives and differential equations, solution of difference equations by means of generating functions, recurrence relations, summation method, difference methods, combinations with repetitions, solutions bounded below, and solutions bounded above and below. The publication takes a look at generating functions and difference equations, ramifications of the binomial theorem, finite structures, coloring problems, maps on a sphere, and geometry of the plane. The manuscript is a valuable reference for researchers interested in combinatorics.
