Book excerpt: New York Times bestseller What is Jesus worth to you? It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily... But who do you know who lives like that? Do you? In Radical, David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple--then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a "successful" suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus. Finally, he urges you to join in The Radical Experiment -- a one-year journey in authentic discipleship that will transform how you live in a world that desperately needs the Good News Jesus came to bring.

Book The Healing Wings

  • Pages : 0 pages

Download or read book The Healing Wings written by Abraham Ocholi and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2023-08-11 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Healing Wings is a book written for the purpose of teaching and helping the believers in Christ know how they can minister the healing power of God to the sick, and how the sick can also receive healing by appropriating the healing power of God in their own lives. When God created human beings, sickness did not exist. Sickness, pain and disease came as the result of the first disobedience of the first man, Adam. You will find the story of the Fall in Genesis chapter 3. God hates sickness and disease just like He hates sin and poverty. But thank God, He provided the all round solution by the gift of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the prophetic Sun of righteousness which would arise with healing in His wings (Malachi 4:2). The healing power saturates this book. Faith to receive healings and other blessings of God can rise within you as you read. There is also impartation grace in this book where the reader can manifest divine healing in a greater dimension through the prophetic encounters from inside. Therefore, you do well to read, study, teach and practice the truth in this book, The Healing Wings. Time has come for the saints of God to fly high on the healing wings. Malachi 4:2 KJV/NIV But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings, And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. As I watched the Jesus Healing Crusade clips, and saw what God did through the Bishop Dag, I quickly realized that it is not by power nor might of man, but by the Spirit of God. In his crusades, you see the actual demonstration of what this scripture means, that the joy that comes after a miracle healing is received, people leaping, swinging like calves recently bound, but now released from the stall of bondage. What could make someone bound, and could not walk straight, then suddenly began to walk straight. A lady carried to a Healing Jesus Crusade with paralysis, instantly rose and began to swing with hands stretched like flying wings. What about a hunchback that vanished suddenly and the man stood straight? Where did the hunch at the back go? Miracles are real, better believe it, and it is supernatural through the mighty power of God. Think about A. A. Allen, the miracle man, who prayed, and a missing second toe suddenly appeared, a man without a lung and three ribs, suddenly was healed with the appearance of the lung and the three ribs through which the lung was removed, when he listened to A.A. Allen on the radio. What about a hermaphrodite whose masculine feature suddenly disappeared and she became a complete woman? If you don't want to believe in miracle, which will not stop God doing wonders. But you may miss the benefits of miracles. I encourage you to believe in healing and creative miracles. Read, be healed and be imparted. Many healing hard questions are answered in this book. I like to note here that God works in different ways with different people. God may give someone a miraculous healing, whereas He gives another a gradual healing. Miracle healing happens instantly in most cases, but divine healing is a process of amendment which happens gradually. I believe your healing miracles, deliverance and other blessings are here for you. And you will receive them as you read this book, in the name of Jesus.

Book Rethinking Hell

  • Author : Christopher Date
  • Publisher : Wipf and Stock Publishers

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most evangelical Christians believe that those people who are not saved before they die will be punished in hell forever. But is this what the Bible truly teaches? Do Christians need to rethink their understanding of hell? In the late twentieth century, a growing number of evangelical theologians, biblical scholars, and philosophers began to reject the traditional doctrine of eternal conscious torment in hell in favor of a minority theological perspective called conditional immortality. This view contends that the unsaved are resurrected to face divine judgment, just as Christians have always believed, but due to the fact that immortality is only given to those who are in Christ, the unsaved do not exist forever in hell. Instead, they face the punishment of the "second death"--an end to their conscious existence. This volume brings together excerpts from a variety of well-respected evangelical thinkers, including John Stott, John Wenham, and E. Earl Ellis, as they articulate the biblical, theological, and philosophical arguments for conditionalism. These readings will give thoughtful Christians strong evidence that there are indeed compelling reasons for rethinking hell.

Book Gods Goddesses and Images of God in Ancient Israel

Download or read book Gods Goddesses and Images of God in Ancient Israel written by Othmar Keel and published by Augsburg Fortress Publishing. This book was released on 1998 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Keel and Uehlinger's unique study brings the massive Palestinian archaeological evidence of 8,500 amulets and inscriptions to bear on these questions. Vindicating the use of symbols and visual remains to investigate ancient religion, the authors employ iconographic evidence from around 1750 B.C.E. through the Persian period (c. 333 B.C.E.) to reconstruct the emergence and development of the Yahweh cult in relation to its immediate neighbors and competitors. They also fully explore whether female characteristics were present in the early Yahweh figure and how they might have evolved in Israelite religion. Keel and Uehlinger's major study marks the maturation of iconographical studies and affords an exciting glimpse into the vibrant religious life of ancient Canaan and Israel.

Book excerpt: What happens when a former Zen Buddhist monk and his feminist wife experience an apparition of the Virgin Mary? “This book could not have come at a more auspicious time, and the message is mystical perfection, not to mention a courageous one. I adore this book.”—Caroline Myss, author of Anatomy of the Spirit Before a vision of a mysterious “Lady” invited Clark Strand and Perdita Finn to pray the rosary, they were not only uninterested in becoming Catholic but finished with institutional religion altogether. Their main spiritual concerns were the fate of the planet and the future of their children and grandchildren in an age of ecological collapse. But this Lady barely even referred to the Church and its proscriptions. Instead, she spoke of the miraculous power of the rosary to transform lives and heal the planet, and revealed the secrets she had hidden within the rosary’s prayers and mysteries—secrets of a past age when forests were the only cathedrals and people wove rose garlands for a Mother whose loving presence was as close as the ground beneath their feet. She told Strand and Finn: The rosary is My body, and My body is the body of the world. Your body is one with that body. What cause could there be for fear? Weaving together their own remarkable story of how they came to the rosary, their discoveries about the eco-feminist wisdom at the heart of this ancient devotion, and the life-changing revelations of the Lady herself, the authors reveal an ancestral path—available to everyone, religious or not—that returns us to the powerful healing rhythms of the natural world.

Book excerpt: Abstract theology is overrated, for God can be found in even the most ordinary of things. Jesus used things like a lily, sparrow, and sheep to teach about the kingdom of God. And in the Old Testament, God repeatedly describes himself and his saving work in relation to physical things such as a rock, horn, or eagle. In God of All Things, pastor and author Andrew Wilson invites you to rediscover God in this way, too--through ordinary, everyday things. He explores the idea of a material world and presents a variety of created marvels that reveal the gospel in everyday life and fuel worship and joy in God--marvels like: Dust: the image of God Horns: the salvation of God Donkeys: the peace of God Water: the life of God Viruses: the problem of God Cities: the kingdom of God God of All Things will leave you with a deeper understanding of Scripture, the world you live in, and the God who made it all.

Book excerpt: Do you long for something more in your relationship with God? The good news is that “something more” does not mean “doing more.” God is not waiting for you to get your spiritual life “right.” He wants to be with you right where you are. The real question is not “What does God want from you?” but “What does God want for you?” Sharon Jaynes understands what it’s like to have a “glory ache”—a longing to experience God’s presence on a daily basis. She also knows how easily working for God can get in the way of intimacy with God. And she’s discovered that we tend to make our faith journey much too hard. In A Sudden Glory, Sharon uses Scripture and story to help you erase the line between your “spiritual life” and your “daily life” as you enter the sanctuary of God’s presence even in the middle of your busy, messy day. Here you will find your eyes opened to moments of sudden glory in which the Creator assures you of His love as you live and move and have your being in Him. Here you will discover true freedom—the freedom of experiencing God in a deeper and more intimate way than ever before. Includes Bible study and discussion guide.
