Book excerpt: Truth is, you can't get through life without going through betrayal. However, betrayal isn't as straightforward as you might imagine. What happens when someone at work stabs you in the back or even worse, what happens when your family betrays you? At that moment, the wind is knocked out of you, but you don't have to remain gasping for air. In Betrayal From Hell, prophetic minister Ryan LeStrange peels back the supernatural layers to reveal the three evil spiritual roots of betrayal and exposes how these demons are: Controlled by pride Hungry for power Seduced by opportunity Whether you are a soccer mom, a prophet, or an entrepreneur, betrayal is sure to show up in your life. In this important follow-up to Hell's Toxic Trio, LeStrange explores the concept of betrayal and the resulting pain, and offers a recovery plan and a recipe for quick and lasting healing.
Download or read book Hunt for the Jews written by Jan Grabowski and published by Indiana University Press. This book was released on 2013-10-09 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A revealing account of Polish cooperation with Nazis in WWII—a “grim, compelling [and] significant scholarly study” (Kirkus Reviews). Between 1942 and 1943, thousands of Jews escaped the fate of German death camps in Poland. As they sought refuge in the Polish countryside, the Nazi death machine organized what they called Judenjagd, meaning hunt for the Jews. As a result of the Judenjagd, few of those who escaped the death camps would survive to see liberation. As Jan Grabowski’s penetrating microhistory reveals, the majority of the Jews in hiding perished as a consequence of betrayal by their Polish neighbors. Hunt for the Jews tells the story of the Judenjagd in Dabrowa, Tarnowska, a rural county in southeastern Poland. Drawing on materials from Polish, Jewish, and German sources created during and after the war, Grabowski documents the involvement of the local Polish population in the process of detecting and killing the Jews who sought their aid. Through detailed reconstruction of events, “Grabowski offers incredible insight into how Poles in rural Poland reacted to and, not infrequently, were complicit with, the German practice of genocide. Grabowski also, implicitly, challenges us to confront our own myths and to rethink how we narrate British (and American) history of responding to the Holocaust” (European History Quarterly).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What happens when your partner, your primary person, in an instant, becomes a source of danger and pain? The Betrayal Bind introduces new language, concepts, and imagery to explore the crucial relational dilemma that betrayed partners face when their significant other is unsafe to connect to, yet connection is the key to healing. Discovering a partner’s sexual betrayal spins your world out of control. In a split second, your sense of safety is shattered, your trust is gone, and everything you thought you could count on is in question. Betrayed partners, whether dealing with an isolated infidelity or a pattern of sexual compulsivity, need immediate support to navigate the new terrain of their relationship. They need a clear articulation of betrayal trauma, a thorough education about their normal attachment-based reactions, and a proven path to healing. By focusing on how a partner’s attachment system functions in the wake of sexual betrayal, The Betrayal Bind offers a new, game-changing exploration into an age-old problem and connects the dots from research to the lived experience of betrayed partners.

Examining twenty-eight great noir films from the earliest examples of the genre, including The Maltese Falcon, The Big Sleep, and Out of the Past, to such twenty-first-century spy films as The Good Shepherd, Syriana, and The Bourne Ultimatum, this study explores the representations of trust and commitment that noir and spy films propose. Book excerpt: The book is divided into three parts: “Philosophy of Thought” (mainly), “Revelation of Power,” and “Philosophical Theory: ‘Civilization and Barbarism’.” The first is “Philosophy of Thought,” which establishes a suitable practical ideological basis—an ideological system: non-individual-oriented thought, and then discovers the correct view of the universe. The latter two articles are more historical. They prove the importance of wisdom and the importance and urgency of popularizing wisdom in society. This book shows that we have come to a key point in history.

Download or read book THE TEACHER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS AND THE WICKED PRIEST written by Edward D. Andrews and published by Christian Publishing House. This book was released on 2024-10-25 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE TEACHER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS AND THE WICKED PRIEST: Their Roles, Rivalry, Conflict, and Divine Judgment in the Dead Sea Scrolls uncovers the lives, beliefs, and intense ideological conflicts of two significant figures from the Second Temple period—the Teacher of Righteousness and the Wicked Priest. In this richly researched volume, Edward D. Andrews explores the complex history of the Qumran community, a secluded Jewish sect, as seen through the Dead Sea Scrolls. These texts illuminate a society fervently devoted to righteousness, prophetic interpretation, and adherence to the Law, set against the backdrop of a religious landscape often marked by corruption and compromise. Through an extensive examination of texts like the Damascus Document, the Community Rule, and the Habakkuk Commentary, Andrews delves into the Teacher of Righteousness's pivotal role as a spiritual guide, interpreter of Jehovah’s Law, and beacon for the Qumran faithful. In contrast, the Wicked Priest emerges as a powerful adversary, symbolizing moral decay and the erosion of covenantal values within the established religious order. This study vividly illustrates their struggle, offering readers insights into the spiritual, theological, and eschatological dimensions that framed the Qumran community’s worldview. THE TEACHER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS AND THE WICKED PRIEST is an essential resource for those interested in the Dead Sea Scrolls, early Jewish thought, and the profound impact of these enigmatic figures on both ancient and modern religious perspectives. This book invites readers to reflect on timeless themes of faith, loyalty, and the quest for righteousness in a world filled with spiritual challenges.
Download or read book Uncanny Rest written by Alberto Moreiras and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2022-10-28 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Uncanny Rest Alberto Moreiras offers a meditation on intellectual life under the suspension of time and conditions of isolation. Focusing on his personal day-to-day experiences of the “shelter-in-place” period during the first months of the coronavirus pandemic, Moreiras engages with the limits and possibilities of critical thought in the realm of the infrapolitical—the conditions of existence that exceed average understandings of politics and philosophy. In each dated entry he works through the process of formulating a life’s worth of thought and writing while attempting to locate the nature of thought once the coordinates of everyday life have changed. Offering nothing less than a phenomenology of thinking, Moreiras shows how thought happens in and out of a life, at a certain crossroads where memories collide, where conversations with interlocutors both living and dead evolve and thinking during a suspended state becomes provisional and uncertain.
